"The dead didn't stop coming here just because Greece converted to Christianity. We usually get one or two a year. Classics professors, archaeologists, people with no strong religious leaning who found some depiction or other of the gods inspiring. A few of them had ideas for upgrading the palace, and they had a ready workforce as well as all of the materials they wanted."
Nice to know the afterlife isn't stagnant at least.
Do they get BBC World Service down there?

I'm getting mixed messages from this woman. She's cross at him trying to flirt, but wanted him to pick her up in a bridal carry?
Time for Paul to shack up with a death goddess.
Melinoë… That was.. the Nymph of Nightmares and Madness, right? She seems nice enough. I float off the ground after her. Actually… Okay, the grey skin, orange eyes and downwards curving horns are a little unusual, but all in all she's not bad looking. And if I'm really resolved to try attracting a mate…
Paul "Clueless" Casanova everyone.

He can only attract women when he isn't trying to.
It depends on if Melinoe is just a nymph or is the daughter of Hades and Persephone according to Wikipedia.

Bored housewife + single daughter = MATCHMAKER!!!

And like many parents who have grown offspring still living with them, Hades might be willing to throw Melinoe at OL just to her out his hair. Having a moody teenager cramping your style for centuries would test anyone's patience.

Persephone: "Squee! That Paul lad couldn't take his eyes off of Melinoe!"
Hades: "Nice to see a boy who appreciates a girl with a big set of horns. Most modern mortals are so prudish about dating outside of their species. Why, back in the day..."

[speaking of 'nightmares and madness']
Dream-OL: "I've decided to get a girlfriend."
Dream-Zatanna:  "R-r-really?"
Dream-OL: "A girl whose smart, funny, and dependable."
Dream-Zatanna: "Ohhh Paul..."
Dream-OL: "Which is why I hooked up with Starfire!"
(Zatanna waits up screaming)
Zatanna: "Oh thank goodness, it was only a dream."
Melinoe: :ogles: "Or was it? Mwa-ha-ha!"
Zatanna:    !!!

You know, had a thought.

@Mr Zoat, for this version of Melinoe, is she really the daughter of Hades, the unknowing daughter of Zeus, or known-but-still-accepted daughter of Zeus because fuck Zeus?

And if I'm really resolved to try attracting a mate…

"Have you been down here l-?"

"Oh! Gods!"

Okay. Fine. Knocking that one on the head.
OK, so I can understand hitting on a Nymph. Nymphomaniac, right? But surely, surely, there are better Nymphs on the planet than the Nymph of nightmares and madness? Like almost literally any others, preferably ones that don't live in the underworld. Hell, hit on Eris, that's still probably a better idea than her. At least then the local priesthood doesn't get panicked calls about some guy walking around with a demon.

Actually, is a talk with Aphrodite in OL's near future? That would be interesting. I'm sure she knows a few lonely minor deities that wouldn't mind OL hanging around.

No. Sadly, radio waves don't propogate across the outer edge.
That's easy to fix, build a receiving station outside, run a line through the entrance, then hook that line up to a transmission station put together inside.

He was attempting to get her talking about herself.
Repeat after me, "You know about me, but all I know about you is badly done myths I read about it books?" or "What's it like living in the Underworld?".

But surely, surely, there are better Nymphs on the planet than the Nymph of nightmares and madness?
Regardless of the potential romance angle, OL might think he unintentionally insulted Melineo (he did), and the British Code of Politeness demands that he make some form of apology.

As both a Paragon and a Champion of Avarice, OL is all about giving people what they want in such a way that doing so gives them the opportunity to become better people and/or improves society. It's how he made alliances with Lex Luthor, the Cheshire, Beresford Twins, Abra Kadabra, etc.

Thus, the two questions OL ought to ask himself are "what gift do you give to a demi-goddess of nightmares and madness?" and "how can a demi-goddess of nightmares and madness use her abilities for the betterment of mankind?"

I'm a fan of the webcomic "Girl Genius" so I associate madness with inspiration, so maybe OL could tell Melineo about 'Epiphanic Prisons' as a way to combine the concepts of nightmares and inspiration whereby her nightmares are about teaching people to face their fears or recognize their own flaws rather than inflicting terror for its own sake. Those that succeed become better people (not necessarily good people) while those that fail slowly fall into madness.
