Invisitext = Oh shit

"I want the world to work in a certain way. People who are productive members of my society being turned into someone else's instruments is contrary to that. Not because it is injurious to them -plenty of things injure people whom I don't care about as individuals- but because it's a frustrating distraction. It means I've got more work to do to fix things. Like this! Have you got any idea how much work I could be doing now if I wasn't saving one guy?"

That's what? An extreme branch of utilitarianism? Defining people by their use for others?

Does OL not subscribe to abstract ideals? "I want to live in a world where people aren't getting nullified and disposed of as worthless, so I want to save him so that he doesn't turn into an example of what I dislike" or something?

Oh crap! Paul just got exposed to a piece of the anti life equation and its a different piece than the one renegade was exposed to.

Huh, I wouldn't have expected the Paragon to get a full piece of the anti-life too. Might be less severe though, for a number of reasons (didn't come right after what happened with Jade, didn't come from Darkseid himself, he isn't a new god (though it's not clear whether that's a positive or a negative), he's enlightened, and he had MOMENTARY experience with the white light when he obtained enlightenment (didn't use it, just spoke in white text for a moment.)). Still, this could be bad. I hope it's not an excuse to get rid of his enlightenment though.

I think "I want the world to work a certain way' covers that. This guy dying this way matters because it makes him a tally on the world not working that way, on it working the way someone else, Darkseid, wants. Even if it's only in a small way.

Okay then, I wasn't completely decided between anti-life and black hand/lanterns/nekron, but that settles it; Darkseid is coming to town.

Well, in Sandman Hope explicitly trumps Anti-Life, so this might turn out ok. Hope that Paul is ok too, and will now be clued into what is going on.

Before it was revealed what was going on here I thought that it might have been the The Dark from the Forever People comic.

Basically the emotional embodiment of despair and hopelessness.

That series canon wielded Kirby's Fourth World, the Millenium Event, and the Lords of Order and Chaos.

Established that the conflict between New Genesis and Apokalips is part of the conflict between Order and Chaos ala the Lords thereof, that Earth is central to that conflict, and during the age of kali yuga, humanity will either fall or rise up (ie evolve into the new Guardians of the Universe).

Failure is a lie, there is only purpose.
Through purpose, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Source will free me.

Purpose = Failure is contradictory.

If your purpose is to fail, then what happens when you fail to fail?
Yay success?

Less the 'your purpose is to fail' and more 'no matter what your purpose is in life it will end in failure because it doesn't matter, nothing matters, nothing has ever or will ever matter'. I think.

Pretty much this exactly; the ALE boils down to "nothing matters, nothing you do matters, nothing you are matters, so surrender to [ALE HOLDER], resistiance is pointless".

With [ALE HOLDER] of course being Darkseid in virtually all continuities.

round isn't touching the location the spell is bound to
I feel like this should be this way...
because this 'could' be the explanation.

If not Darkseid, then Nekron...

Black isn't death per se. I've seen any number of dead and dying people without the tiniest hint of black in them. It's more… A longing for nullity, or drawing on power that feels similar enough

Hm, interesting how an Orange Lantern describes the black light. After all the discussion yesterday about how the power rings of any white color can't detect the black light at all, it's interesting that an avarice enlightened one describes the black as the wanting of nothing.

Can he escape to the Plane of Avarice to cleanse the Black from his system? Last resort obviously, because he can't keep the constructs up, but he shouldn't have a problem finding his way back in an instant assuming that the Brand acts like a beacon.

Love the most recent episodes, MrZoat. I don't understand if Vandal Savage is still alive in Paragonverse after the events of Mandated. I know Eliminations Inc and Per Degaton's people were rounded up, Goldstein and Hunter are in custody with the JL (along with time machine) and Dana Dearden is now trapped with the Legion while they fight Time Trapper Paul?

So I was rereading Prayer and Constantine said that Timothy Karnes (Sabbac 1) would need at least six months-1year recovery before rejoining society. However, now that the angel mess has happened I wonder if he is under some kind of witness protection due to the religious crazies going around hunting people with demon blood. I also think that Frederick Freeman would make a good blue lantern if Alan begins building his corp. Is his disability healed in Renegade? I imagine that William who is acting as both CM and Beowulf would be looking for things to help his foster family.

And since Grayven has accepted SinestroRing's idea for a Yellow Corps, I'd like to nominate one Amanda Waller. Renegade has had little contact with her, but I believe that 'The Wall' would certainly use fear to inspire order.

Yes. The original version of Savage (whose request to use the hero dial started the whole mess) realised that history hadn't changed, shrugged, and went about his business.

Fortunately, knowledge of a dubious bloodline isn't widely known. And most of those who have heard it assume that it was a lie. Otherwise, how could someone else get the power as well?

No.

Incidently, I've just seen the Shazam trailer. Looks surprisingly good for a DC film.

Waller 16 is a prison warden, not the criminal lunatic she is in most iterations.

Actually from what I understand as far as the ALE is concerned Darkseid is just as pointless as everything else. That's the whole point of Self=Null. Darkseid however is attempting to twist the ALE to his own ends with Self=Darkseid as part of his role as the New God of Tyranny. That's the whole point of why he's searching more parts/better understanding of the Equation its not something that is naturally his but something he stole and is trying to force to submit to his rule just like everything else he comes across.

I agree. It has a much lighter tone than the other DC movies, and the actor seems to really nail being a child in an adult's body with newfound powers.

The naivety of walking up to armed robbers without knowing he was super durable was funny as well.
