Tugg's reaction after hanging up: "Damn, I fucked up. Now I only have about 48 hours before orange-flavored Spock there eliminates all the wrong boxes on his checklist"

Is there anyone with time based powers in DC that can fix this nonsense? Or is Paul going to have to jerry rig something the hard way.

Ok, so Truggs practically leads with, and I quote, "You an' me are about the only guys who remember how history's supposed ta be."

And Sino!Paul puts timeline fuckery on the BOTTOM of the list of possibilities?!?!?!

Argh.

Now, while this seems to confirm that this is our Paul with his memory scrambled, that doesn't necessarily mean that Truggs didn't simply call the wrong Paul.

Because...why would Truggs' memory remain unchanged but not OL's?

Now that would prove interesting...ParaPaul and MandatePaul forced to fight over whose timeline will remain.

funnily enough its been shown that some angels in the dc universe have the ability to change time. I mean i doubt it will go that way, but...we might be seeing zauriel again real soon.

Edit:
other than that, the only heroes that typically have the ability to time travel/change time are doctor fate, captain adam, the phantom stranger, raven, the various flashes and booster gold.

Does he.. not know that China is a surveillance state?

There we go, proof that this reality ISN'T the better timeline some people in this thread think it is. It's actually kinda shit. Not only is most of Europe a backwards conservative hellhole, but the country that appears to control most of the world is a surveillance state (I'm assuming more so than the US is in the real world).

Depends on how bad you think a surveillance state really is. Of course, keep in mind this is a surveillance state effectively 'run' by a Lord of Order, meaning the opportunities for graft and corruption are going to be very few and far between. That eliminates or reduces a lot of the downsides of a surveillance state.

Saying it's "run" might be going too far. I get the feeling that the Heavenly Guardians are considered Unquestionable, but they're considered too important to be dealing with such mundane matters as rooting out corruption. Well, aside from as a hobby which, considering Nabu, seems likely.

Wait, Paul's ring called this Earth-16. How does he know that?

Is the Ring's database temporally shielded, or did Blue!Paul drop by in this altered history too?

Only if you accept that whatever the state (or a lord of order, for that matter) thinks is wrong IS wrong, which I do not. Real world china has a huge censorship problem, so I certainly don't trust fictional china to be a productive surveillance state, if such a thing exists. They could easily be using it to detect dissidents trying to communicate or organize. Not to mention there are things that should be legal that aren't; to use examples from our world, drugs, polygamy (obviously not a problem in their world) and in some countries gay marriage. I'm sure this world has things like that of its own; what are the chances it has a perfect government?

This version of China hasn't tried to ram through decades of Communist Manifesto either nor has it been exposed to Western Capitalism via 'ingesting' Hong Kong (among other factors). Judging it's government by real-world-China's seems like it would be fairly inaccurate.

I was open to that being the case, but the fact that it's a surveillance state is a bad sign.

A few. Off the top of my head-

Gabriel Walker, the second Chronos is a possibility, he grandfather paradoxed himself out of existence so timeline changes shouldn't affect him at all.

The Rip Hunter who survived Crisis might be a possibility, a timeline change to an Earth he isn't native to wouldn't affect him.

For just one example of situations where this earth is worse, most of Europe is an ultra-conservative religious hellhole
Most of the middle east is a 'ultra-conservative religious hellhole' here. If Europe is just as bad, then the situation is a equivalent, and the Mandate Universe is better because of other factors. If Mandate Europe is more conservative, but less so than the current Middle East, then the Mandate Universe is even more favored.

The real life UK is a surveillance state. Like either parliament has a sexual fetish for CCTV, or whoever the government awards the contracts to has incontrovertible proof the nation is run by lizard people and is milking it all it's worth. News Flash, the dystopia you are accusing the alternate timeline of being is already the status quo.

We're rooting for Truggs on this one.
If the devil came to oppose Truggs, I would make at least a favourable reference to the devil in the House of Commons.
