Looking down, I see small wooden houses with thatched roofs, their chimneys a mixture of brick and stone. Not all completely primitive, though. I see several wind-powered electrical generators -small ones- linked to a wire strung along a series of fence posts. There's a stream powering a water wheel which I'm guessing is used for grinding grains into flour. Short flag-topped poles mark the edge of the cliff. I can see people working on things, but there isn't much that grows well at this time of year and at this latitude. From the looks of things most people are inside.

Oh god, hippies.

Quick hold up a cellphone and use it to ward them off!

Influence from Grayven? O.O Seems awfully high and mighty of Paul...

They are Hippies, it's justified.

*OL gives his best effort to narrow down the search as much as possible*

I don't suppose one of them has a sign saying 'Pagan Nation' on the front -all but one disappear- gate…

Thanks, ring.
BWAHAHAHA! :lol

Yeah, that'll simplify matters.

Since he's a primitive I'll let him off not holding it open for me.
So British.

"I doubt it, Coll. I think I'd know about it if anyone did."

*OL steps in* "No, I really do wish to speak to you, Miss Mercury."

"AAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!"
That's just hilarious. I love the way his scry wards throw off those people used to know everything.

Asking for you by name, no less.
Yup.
If anything, the fact that she was screaming shows she's been living soft for the last decade.
Any number of people I know would not expend their breath on screams; they'd be out the window and running the fuck away.
God knows the first time I heard a gunshot at close range I was down and in cover before I consciously realised someone was shooting a firearm.

I step forward and push open the door myself. In the dark -of course, it would be rather hard to make glass here- the orange glow from my environmental shield is clearly visible and the sigil on my chestplate stands out even more. Several people are eating lunch around a wooden table. One of them -a short woman with brown hair- looks positively shocked to see me. "No, I really do wish to speak to you, Miss Mercury."

"AAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!"

"Do I have something stuck in my teeth?"

"If it's about the lack of a proper soul. I assure you, I didn't sell it or have it eaten or anything. I just come from a dimension where folks don't have them."

"Are you a demon?"

"That's actually kind of racist. We're just as human anyone else."

To be fair, Paul does have a proper soul. And it would be a human one too gosh darnit, if, you know, he hadn't gone all Paulphidian only a couple of days after he got the soul granting tattoo's. So ya.... not a human soul, but still has one!

The one exception to this is one-time pads. Regardless of how much processing power you have, a one-time pad is absolutely unbreakable without the key, because a given N-character string can be decrypted to any other string of N characters just by using a different pad. Without the key, there's no way of knowing if the message is "Attack at dawn" or "Please walk dog?"
Even so, the key must exist somewhere, so a Power Ring could probably just brute force scan the planet for likely keys, use them on the encrypted sources and pick the most likely candidates for correct translation. So, unless the key is warded or memorized, or hidden in an otherwise exotic way....

Of course, since the key can be anything - a specific fanfic, any specific digital photo....

I don't know much about quantum computing.
... Actually, I'm not sure I know anything about qc.

"AAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!"
Bit of a long shot but we might be about to get more info about the Orange Dawn.

Not sure Tula truly understood the lesson if that is her counter to mental magic. The point of such subtle attacks is that they hit at a moment of unsuspecting weakness. Having a defence you must activate doesn't matter if you don't know when it is needed.

No that is just him being British and the other guy being Amish. A Scottish Amish at that.
