Yeah, Paul doesn't excel in raw power unless he calls on the Ophidian; it's always been creativity on his side.

eh, paul kinda of does by baseline standards. It's not his focus, but his constructs are pretty strong. For the leel, he can operate at they are fairly weak sure, but he's still probably to the right of the bell curve on construct strength.

Going by the canon Lantern's Report Omake from Spring in Blume:
Empiricist said:
While his construct strength is not particularly strong, roughly on the level of a Green Lantern partway through basic training, his propensity to multitasking, attacking from oblique angles, creativity in appliance and creation of constructs, and horde of non ring-based offensive and defensive options all mean that even a much more experienced Lantern would have an extremely difficult time in defeating him non lethally."

Prediction: the fight doesn't finish; the Guardians pull them in sweaty, panting and flushed. Guy immediately asks if Paul's branching away from spiders.
*Paul limps into the Hall of Willpower, ring power so low he's walking (doesn't want an Orange Lantern recharging on Oa)*

Guy (Smirking): Looks like you've been busy.

Paul: *Pant* Admittedly... I... whaw... I have a new respect for Killowag. Obviously what Orange Lantern's have in creativity can be worn down by sufficient stamina. I can now only conclude that my easy victories sparring against you are the result of that bus accident, not improper tutelage.

Guy (Sniggering): At least I was able to get the number of the bus that smashed me. That ring embargo means you can't stay in touch with your bang buddy.

Paul: ...Shut up Guy.

I am hype. I want Paul to win, but I do want it to be a struggle.
Nah, Paul is facing a Green Lantern with decades of experience in their home turf. A lot of Paul's stuff comes from trickery and gadgets he probably won't pull in a spar of Oa, can't show the Guardians everything after all.

I think he's bitten off more than he can chew for this one. I want Paul humbled.

If he has, then he should have a talk with Kilowog about why Earth's greenies were so woefully underprepared for him. If the teacher can fight Orange Lanterns, why can't the students even make a good showing?
Perhaps intent? Besides Paul and Sinestro, there really aren't many hostile Lanterns in the galaxy, even then those aren't thing the organization as a whole deals with often.

It seems like Green Lanterns are more speced for defence than Orange is. Remember orbatal bombardment training? That requires a level of construct strength that Paul really can't match, and that is apparently standard for Green.

I also think Crumbler rounds no-sell Green Lantern construct strength training, which makes them look a LOT weaker to Paul than they really should be.

Guy's gonna be a bit miffed if Paul clobbers Kilowog. And smug if the reverse happens.

Are we going to be seeing green constructs that can totally overpower OL, and OL desperately trying to find ways around them while not being squished or zapped? Presumably the use of Best Snake would count as cheating...

Only if Kilowog can counter crumbler rounds.

Of course. This is supposed to be "how to fight a Lantern like a Lantern" not "look at how strong the Embodiments are".

I recall a line from Rebirth, when Hal is characterising each lanterns style when it comes to using their rings. Killowog?

When he uses his ring it's the only one that makes a sound, like a big ol base dropping.

Nope. Paul can manufacture them with his ring, so theoretically other Lanterns can too, so they're fair game. It's only magical ammunition that has a sharply limited supply.
Genuine question here: Is that actually a thing Green Lanterns can do, and not just Orange? I can't think of any scenes where a Green Lantern is used to build anything wholesale like that.

I also think there was a scene where Paul gives Lantern Jack Chance a few hundred rounds as a gift. With the implication that he couldn't get more, but that may have been anti-magic rounds.

He probably can; he obviously has been keeping up with what the Green Lanterns know about OL, and they know about crumblers & how to defend against them.

You'd think, but apparently killing and eating your predecessor doesn't exclude you from Green Lantern Corps recruitment, so it's a little difficult to be sure.
"In my defense, he was really yummy."

It is in this story. After the Red androids attacked the Team's base one of the Green's helped rebuild it. They are restricted on what they are allowed to build, though.

We had a chat about exactly what he's allowed to do with his ring as far as building work goes, and the upshot is that he with his unlimited-recharges-but-can-only-manufacture-things-commonly-available-on-Earth-unless-he-gets-special-dispensation ring will be doing all of the structural work, while the orange no-more-recharges-for-seven-hours-but-can-make-anything ring makes the advanced stuff. Well, we are now. Last night I got a bit repair-happy, and I'm now on low power. Unlike Lantern Jordan, Lantern Stewart actually sounded interested in the possibilities of unrestrained creation.

IN terms of construct strength; remember that Hinnon failed to break his construct a few updates ago. His constructs must be stronger now. He also has the privalages from when Hinnon unlocked his ring

I imagine that a giant orange chomping mouth construct would do wonders for their concentration."
This is a Pac Man reference. But Pac Man is not orange. Pac Man is yellow. One does not offer to make orange Pac Mans, it is simply not done. If you are going to make a construct Pac Man, you need to go to the extra effort of making it yellow. Because Pac Man is yellow, and not orange.

The Guardians are gonna cockblock them by calling for OL in the .iddle of the fight, aren't they?
Certainly sounds dickish enough.
Especially if it happens just when OL thinks he is positioned to land a decisive victory momentarily.
