Now that we know this versions ring wasn't created be a ROB, it occurs to to wonder were all the other alternate rings the other Pauls gor came from, especially the alternates who didn't even get into a DC universe.

I disliked the previous episode to the point of tuning out, but this episode is fascinating. I don't expect the courteous communication to last, though. The uplift part of the story was always the most interesting concept explored, and this certainly qualifies.

I wouldn't be too sure of that, if the White Light and it's entity is a thing in this setting, and the Controllers are aware of it, they may be wary of developing too noticeable a connection to Earth, for fear of drawing dangerous groups to pay too much attention to it and discover the White Light and try to misuse it. Plus, I think it was implied that magic is weaker in general throughout most of the galaxy than it is on Earth (there are of course, other exceptional areas when it comes to magic, earth isn't the only one, but it is still an exception to the norm), so a lot of magic stuff may be less powerful and reliable after spending some time away from higher magic areas, making trade of magical stuff only work best with other high-magic zones.

You're assuming that she even knows about that. That anyone knows about that. Hell, if no one on Earth knows about that, why should aliens? If they do know it's there, and our planet being kind of... primitive? Developmentally fragmented? as it is, if they knew it was there and how to get at it, why wouldn't they have just taken it? Granted, I've never read the GL comics so I don't know how they found out that it was there, but wasn't it in some really huge crisis with the Black Lanterns, Darkest Night? Even then, was it them discovering it or the Life Enitity revealing itself? I'm pretty sure someone somewhere said that it was hard to find, or in a dimensional shift, or something like that. Right?

White Entity was observed by Paulphidian in the text. Not sure about not establishing connection - Earth is due to be Reached soon anyway, after all. Better to stake the claim before Reach can. And I think magical items, once created, retain their properties no matter the environment - see Sword of the Fallen and such.

Huh... So Earth technology can be fascinating to Maltusians. I am surprised she's not gushing about Paul's tattoos, really. I mean, from her (and, really, my) perspective they are technology (application of skill and knowledge to create devices to change the world), and creating perpetually growing souls on demand + perfect scry protection should be VERY interesting. I mean, scry invisibility itself could probably be adapted into emotional spectrum shielding. If active remote scans are protected from (and they are), then scry invisibility shields can act as shields against emotional light. Perfect shields.

Also, jovium, orichalcium, mythril samples should fascinate her. And if she (and other controllers) are actually interested in the universe and improving themselves / upgrading stuff they have / advancing further than they are, I could see them establishing actual no joke trade with Themyscira for the stuff.
Well, she has been in a coma (or something similar) for over 3 billion years at the very least. While Maltusian/Guardian/Controller/whatever technology has has pretty much been ahead of the rest of the universe since they managed to successfully control/channel the Emotional Spectrum, there would be significant changes in the development and application of more mundane (compared to power rings) sciences. Even with Earth's schizo-inventors, there's probably a fair number of things that she'll be interested in since she simply wasn't there for them if/when some other species came up with similar devices.

Definitely can see the metals being of interest to all of them, though (albeit she's likely the only one to outwardly express it in a noticeable fashion). When it first came up Paul did mention that NO ONE had jovium, at least as far as the ring's database said. Whether or not they need it, it's at least going to attract some "huh, would you look at that. neat" reactions.

oh she is going to love earth. well, once she stops sputtering at seeing insanity like a high-end combat robot running on vacuum tubes.
"How in any possible existence is that working?"

"Welcome to the Fifth World."

"Oh. Yes, that makes sense. Wait, they're only up to five? They should be starting the seventh world by now."

"There's been several different groups interfering with the development of the fifth, some deliberately, some by accident. Including the Guardians, though I don't know which side of the scale they fall on. Either way, things have been very delayed."

don't the Arcane metal/alloy are just normal metal/alloy infuse with magic
what happen if you use alien material in the magic imbuing process

She blinks. "An immortal marinated on the orange light for three billion years with only his own madness for company?"
You know, his age really sinks in when you go look up the age of the Universe and find it's only 13.772 years old. Larfleeze is slightly over 1/5th the age of the Universe.
1/4.59th the age, to be precise.

Apparently the Orange Light is really good at keeping you going.

Goddamn. Y'know, this is almost too good to be true? I mean, it's what I'd expect of a Sane Maltusian, and those are rare as hens teeth really. I'm almost waiting for the other shoe to drop, she's just so damned reasonable!
She is entirely reasonable.
The rest of the Controllers, well...they haven't been refreshed by a three billion year nap.

I'm also quite interested in the fact that she threw the ring into the Bleed to "go find a user".
Aaaaaand we have Word of Darkseid that original!Grayven "threw himself into the Bleed" when leaving Apokalips.
Hmmmmmmmm.

he not flesh anymore
just a big ball of solidify greed energy in the shape of what he used to look like

I'm still dissapointed he didn't talk to Starfire.

I thought the scry protection tatooes were inside his soul. Can she even see those?
And even then the guy who made them is out of commision for now.

Isn't Larfleeze mom still around? I thought his race was also a race of pseudo immortals like the Maltusians if significantly less powerful.

I think part of the problem other Maltusians have is the multi-billion year lifespan with very little change. They spend millennia at a time doing the same things over and over again. It's entirely possible that half the problem with them is the fact of having fallen into an enormous rut. That, and buying into their own hype.

Of course when you have that much power, any mistake you make is gonna wind up being big.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I doubt SI Paul is actually some sort of mutated Grayven, but wouldn't it be just the kind of confusing comicbook-y twist for Renegade to turn out to be Grayven All Along.

Do we know if SI-timeline Grayven is also missing?

Indeed. List of tech that we KNOW Paul has, and which seem to be the best on Earth out of the known universe:
1) Crumbler tech. Perfect unblockable (save for sacrificing ablative armor) destruction. Perfect counter to the Glow barriers. Were unknown to GL corps until Paul gave them some rounds.

2) Earth Freeze Rays - the ones that drop the target to 0K. They tell entropy and conservation of energy (and conservation of energy is a direct consequence of the "laws of nature are consistent over time" law; no kidding here) to f*ck off. Again, no one has them but Earth (and now Jack Chance), and GL corps hasn't heard about anything like that. If upscaled, they could potentially snuff out stars and such. Plus, the tech built on this tech should be fascinating.

3) Jovium - perfect heat and electricity transfer. Depending on how conceptual it is, with no upper limit. This + freeze ray = perfect anti-energy weapon armor.

4) Potentially Orichalcium and Mythril, for their various properties.

5) Garrick formula. Yes, it's adapted to humans, but... It's a VERY high class speedster generation method with no drawbacks once the process is figured out. And that's mental processing too.

6) Soul carving process is general (possibly), and scry warding in particular. Also possibly the whole soul creation technology.
I thought the scry protection tatooes were inside his soul. Can she even see those?

She might be able to help John, and she did comment on "what fascinating soul structures your species must have", meaning that she has at least some knowledge of how souls work and can do research on them.

Probably.

However Larfleeze's people are quite long lived, at least in some iterations.

Adara, the blue entity of hope, revealed to Larfleeze that his family is still alive and misses him. Larfleeze hopes to find his family again, you see.

Which implies that not only is Larfleeze still in his natural lifespan, but that his parents are still in their natural life spans as well.

And in JL 3001 (based mostly on New Earth with prime and pre-crisis touches) the JL runs into Larfleeze and his cousin G'nort, although G'nort is starting to show his age- he has arthritis in his tail so it hurts to wag.

Whether Zoat will have a rehabilitated Larfleeze returning to the bosom of his family remains to be seen, of course.

Is it just adapted to humans? Didnt Paul test it on animals?

Yes, and Grayven, despite not being human, can gain temporary superspeed before his healing factor says "Hey, that's not supposed to be there, cut that out!"

IIRC they know it's there and falsely declared Oa the center of the universe as a distraction. They wanted nobody to know it was there. For good reason, you'll note that OL hasn't gone around announcing its existence and location either.

Yes; that's how he found out that re-applying the formula makes the subject explode, for example.

Ok, Earth-based life then. And maybe New Gods. Still, with soul-engineering advanced based on Paul's own artificial soul and John Constantine's soul rune carving method (which he hopefully taught to at least someone reliable), this could be overcome by grafting necessary soul structure onto alien souls.

"Nine. Only nine of them left."
"The.. Guardians? Yes."
The Controllers used to be Guardians
So, are there enough former Guardians to take the name away from the 9 Malthusan's on Oa? If the organisation used to be larger, should the smallest faction after the breakup really be entitled to the name?

"Hey Guy, all the original Guardians got together, and there's been a bit of organisation reshuffling. The Bobble-Heads you work for lost the Name Rights when they stopped being the single largest faction. So now the Orange Lantern Corp has the sponsorship of the Guardians of the 'Universe' and you work for those nine Malthusans on Oa, who haven't been able to increase their membership in 3 billion years."

Hmmmmmmmm.

the rest of the controlers have been dealing with a multi teir forever war against a galatic empire that inslaves people with limited resources, their out numbered, in some cases out gunned, and if they screw up the fate of trillions will be inslavement or being used as parts.

And there are only 30 of them.....

they have a legit reason to feel cranky.

So she is a former member of the guardian faction (when there where more than thirty of them) and returned to Maltus to join the controler faction...

In essence she is a true guardian and has knowledge of the glow technology, meanwhile thr controllers are cousins that went with a different tech tree and were never part of the group that researched glow technology?

I am asking because its not clear what she means when she says there are only nine guardians left, and grieves as if they died when there are literally over half a dozen controllers sitting in a chamber waiting for them...

1. I kind of want her to meet Eris.

2. Isn't killing Larfleeze as easy as making him suicidal enough to have contempt for his own existence?

Continuous membership.

After season 9 of X-Files ended, many of the writers flocked together and started working on the first seasons of Supernatural. Some ten years later, X-Files came back, and brought back many of the writers who had worked on the early-to-middle seasons of X-Files. So which is the original team of writers? The one that's stuck together and been in active service for over twenty years? Or the one that was reconstructed from the people who had quit years ago?

Personally, I think the writers working on Supernatural now have a more valid claim to being the team that worked on X-Files in the earlier seasons, even though they have fewer members in common. Because they have organizational continuity. You can write a detailed timeline of that group, and every person who's left and joined, and there won't be any skips of more than a few years. Meanwhile, the other team is made up from people who left that group a long time ago, and have all been doing other unrelated things since.

So I think the guys on Oa still have the better claim to the title.
