Alternatively:

"Aren't you going to use protection?"

"Ah, of course, silly me." My armour appears around me and gives me a tactical threat assessment of the room. Thankfully, Jade lying naked on the couch is the only thing of note.

"That's.. not what I meant. Protection against pregnancy."

"Jade, how could I get pregnant in my power armour? That doesn't even make sense."

I really don't get this thing with Alan. Paul explicitly said to Alan that he and Zatanna were working on figuring out how to kill Nabu and why they were doing that. When they finally confronted Nabu, Paul gave Nabu several options that didn't have to end in violence, and not only did Nabu refuse all of them, Nabu was the one that first started using lethal force. And as a Lord of Order Nabu was far to powerful to not to respond to lethal force with lethal force, not if Paul wanted to avoid fatalities on his side. It's regrettable that it ended that way, but Nabu was the escalator.

Aw, you didn't use the 'Fluttershy comes out' one.

So, unrelated to that post, but I've been reading the Johns era of Green Lantern, and I couldn't held but notice that Larfleeze refers to the Ophidian using male pronouns twice in two separate issues. Is this something you've addressed and I've missed? Or is it later addressed in the comics, themselves, because right now I'm on GL #57, GLC #53, and Brightest Day #17 (Following a reading order).

It's one thing to inform Alan that. It's another to actually do it. He looks up to Alan and wants to prove that giving Paul the lantern was the right choice, and he is afraid of disappointing him.

In all honesty, I think Alan might be a bit regretful that things didn't turn out better, but I don't think he will disapprove of Paul's decision.

Huh, that was a very realistic and rational approach. It's still possible in the future and it'll probably be a while before either fully gives up the possibility, but they're still open enough that, should OL or Jade become romantically involved with someone else, neither will have their heart broken and will be able to easily move on. A sensible and mature way to handle such a thing.

Now how would this have all gone down if OL hadn't turned his libido back on? I imagine he'd recognize that overt of an invitation. He was missing social cues, that was Jade presenting herself.

"Oh. That's right, I completely forgot we humans did this."

Edit: Oh, and Paulphidian.

"We apologize, we do not feel that way about humans anymore."

On one hand can understand his reasons but on the other damn it man hot willing woman you like right there! You killed a bastard who deserved it then told off the justice league how about you live a little bit more before you throw yourself into space and all the crazy shit waiting for you there.

For fucks sake...
Fine, guess it's back to waiting.
At least he left it open, and IIRC he will be recruiting Jade or something in the future when he's back on Earth.

You make a shit orange lantern bruh.
This, more or less. There's nothing to stop Paul from taking Jade with him, if he really wanted to. The fact that he doesn't either means that he doesn't want that relationship as much as he claims to, or that he's less creative than he's been so far.

My read on it is that he's expecting Alan to react badly just because the JL did... which is silly, since Alan was onboard earlier, but he's not in a pleasant headspace after that meeting, so it's understandable.

Alan's an experienced super hero, he knows from personal experience that fighting someone more powerful then you, who is willing to use lethal force, sometimes requires lethal force to take down if you don't want to suffer any fatalities on your side. Hell that's how things went down with Mordru and the Justice Society.

Is laundering money the sort of crime she should admit to doing to a superhero? Also why is she laundering that money? She wasn't doing anything illegal. Just deposit it in the bank and declare it to the IRS under "other income."

I took it as a joke.

She just aided in the assassination of a superhero and accepted a large sum of money for it. What else is she going to call it?

Man, Eris is probably about to strangle someone...

If memory serves, her thing was that she doesn't want him to have casual sex (for some reason). So she'd be against this too.

Huh, that was a very realistic and rational approach.

Rational, abso-bloody-lutely. Painfully so. In fact, for a story all about emotions and drives, they're almost never allowed to be fulfilled because people think themselves out of it.

Realistic? I'd... uh, probably have maybe hoped she would call him out on his arrogance here. "You're right, Paul. If we have sex now, I'll fall so deeply in love with you I'll pine for you until your return!" Please. Fair play Paul not wanting to and having his (entirely valid) reasons. But I raised an eyebrow seeing Paul's interpretation of her emotional state.
