Also, there's no way that Adom is Isis's sole worshipper. In this world where there's no evidence at all in the existence of the supernatural or gods specifically there are people who worship Isis. I can name one in my city, and I don't generally associate with that sort of hippy. In that world where not only has magic been proven to exist countless times, but the gods themselves have been proven to exist, there's no way that Isis doesn't have many more dedicated followers, even if they're still a small number.

Why is this in this episode of all things? I'd have thought a situation like this would deserve an entire focus episode.

Probably because life isn't episodic. There's always crap going on in the background, and it just happened that this crap was coming to a head as Paul walked in.

I suppose I should be proud that bronze age Humans could spoof power rings…
Bug report:
Human tech tree includes seemingly-random connections to copies of far more advanced techs than would otherwise exist at a given level. This may have gone unnoticed because they don't get used as prerequisites until the tech is researched the normal way or you use a Leader to convert them directly into the next tech in the normal tree. This issue is most pronounced in the magic tech tree, which also interacts unreliably with the top levels of all other tech trees with even basic research.
Please fix.

The issue is the persistent world feature. There was bunch of nerfs for early game magic in a patch years ago but unless you uninstall and re-install your game you keep finding these superstrong magic stuff all around the place.

I mean magic is still op but these early op stuff is just a remnant.

I'm guessing it's a "No, strange men flying around handing out jewelry is no basis for a system of government."

And probably also a "we need to date first," unless "missing her tongue" was actually a euphemism for kissing.
You are my hero.
HAHAHA

I laughed out loud at his cluelessness.

No, see, she really is angry here. But it's not showing up as red because in this fic this emotion is the desire to destroy. She doesn't want to destroy Adom.

Note that if she loved him or lusted after him, he'd be able to see these. So it's nothing that simple.
I feel like it's more like a wish for sanity. Which is why she is such a good sanity checker. Something like "She doesn't hate anything until she understands it". or something. Probably wrong.

Why'd Isis do anything to empower someone who isn't a worshipper?
Especially someone who keeps arguing against Adom, who is basically her representative and DOES keep to the faith.

You'd be surprised. Son of Vulcan's origin is basically that he told the Roman Gods off. "Wait, if you guys are real, why the @$#$ is the world such a mess?"

So Vulcan's response was "Fine, here's a power up, you go fix things."

Aquaman got a divine power up by mugging Neptune's son after he took the family trident for a spin.

Wildfire got her powers from a fire god surprised she survived a fire.

On the other hand... Captain Marvel is empowered by a number of deities, titans, demigods, and one prophet-king, whom I doubt Billy worships...

Also, Black Adam still got the power despite clearly not a worshiper?

Black Adam got the power by disguising himself as Teth Adom, spiritually speaking.

For Captain Marvel... While the power is named after those beings, I think it's relevant that Shazam has the on/off switch. I don't know what's going on there.
Don't forget that the religious requirements of Zeus and Solomon are probably incompatible, and that some of those beings are dead.

By comparison, the Black Adam thing is simple.

Not that complicated, Shazam is the middle man- He's the one with the deals with the seven patrons, and then he makes arrangements to dole out the power.

When Shazam was busy being dead, Freddy went a questing to gain deals with the patrons themselves.

Then Shazam came back and took Freddy's powers away, which makes far less sense, since he shouldn't have had the authority.

But it's not like DC writers care about such trifling things as continuity.

I don't raise my right hand in a lifting motion as the plug comes free, but it would probably be appropriate.
"All yours, Mighty One."
Always amusing to see Paul, a being who regularly throws around what could easily be labelled as godlike power, calling someone else Mighty One.

Nice to see that Adom is capable of moving on. Shame he picked either a tsundere or an unmitigated jerk to try and share his heart with.
