What about those weather machines they built awhile back? I thought they were made for this type of problem?

Wonder how Oceanus would react to a few flaming bolides impacting it's face?

But. Story should end by convincing Zeus to apologise.

Alternatively. Hera hooks up with Oceanus. He calms down. They stiff Zeus at parties from now on. Paul brings him to the moon Europa where he can make all the waves he wants. Biggest ocean.

Captain Cornwall drains the staff. The staff basically keeps Oceanus angry.

Bermuda's probably fucked

Really?

...

Well crap.

How badly fucked are we talking here? On the scale or 'massive property damage' to 'need to redraw the maps with a certain mid-Atlantic island removed'.

I mean, we should be OK on the storm side. The island regularly tanks cat 3 hurricanes with nothing worse than downed power lines. (building code is exterior walls need to be 8 inches of stone minimum) Things will probably be bad but not catastrophic.

Not sure how well we'd do against the tidal waves. Bermuda is hilly enough that storm surge isn't a big issue, but that's more of a raised sea level than a wall of water with an ocean of momentum behind it. We've got a pretty robust reef line that's great for dealing with surface waves, but I have no idea how it'll interact with a pressure pulse.

Any hope of local talent helping out? I don't think DC has any characters that deal with Bermuda (at least outside of continuities where Paradise Island is in the Bermuda Triangle) but we have enough local traditions and weird superstitions that in a magical universe there's probably something going on.

I've been following the story for a while now but the mention of my home was enough to get me to break lurker status. Thanks for upping the engagement on an already great story.

I'm, I'm pretty sure he wears power armor, has cool Paultech, and goes by Arsenal. Unless I'm very confused.
Ah, you're correct. He changed his name, but it wasn't explicitly mentioned that he did.
Wait, what?

I thought he had claimed all within his sight?

His mantra is a lie!

Low energy orange lanterns :(
If he's never been somewhere, then it falls outside of his sight.
Don't know why I wasn't following him already.
Zoat near exclusively posts in this thread and the story only thread. Unless you particularly want at least two notifications a day, it's easier to just read this thread.
No. I did consider having him wake up in a chair in her room, but decided against it.
Thank you. I do not see why people ship the SI, a 30 year old man, with a ~15 year old girl. It's just... really creepy.
Why you'd hope for that is beyond me.
Because it's cool to ship a 15 year old with a guy only slightly too young to be her father? Really, I have no idea. I guess she talks fairly maturely and the picture on the first page makes the SI look like a teenager.

Bermuda's probably fucked.
Half the time Bermuda is hiding in the Triangle has space time folded back in on itself. I give it pretty good odds.

Saint Patrick's bailiwick. Surround Oceanus with Green on all sides!

Let's all follow him
Only following two people. Zoat is already one of them, for WTR. @Gromweld is the other for Alchemical Exalted.

He has made a working prototype, and by now probably some production models. But they need a magician casting through them for full effect, and those are busy. Also, they are city wide stuff, and this is hemispheric in scale, with the water just keeping on coming.

That plan of Oceanus hooking up with Hera looks a lot more plausible when you read some of the stuff on his Wikipedia page.

Paragraph 5 of the intro has Hera twice mentioning that she went to visit him in the Illiad. Of course, those versions also say that Oceanus didn't take the Titan's side in the war with the Olympians, so YMMV.

What really worries me is that he also represented the "ocean stream at the equator in which floated the habitable hemisphere."
That, and Oceanus is the oldest son of Gaea and Uranus, while Cronos was the youngest. as in, he actually is old enough to remember the world before the first Olympians' father was born.

Hell, Oceanus is Athena's grandfather, as the father Metis, Zeus's first wife and Athena's mother.

We're not just talking Titan, we're talking incarnation of 70%< of the planet's surface. Even among bad situations, this is bad.

Unless he decides to just grab Tethys and sire another few thousand kids instead.

...Unless these waves are a side-effect of him doing just that, in which we need to worry about how destructive he'll get when the JL tries to interrupt him mid-coitus.

The big issue is what happens if the JL reaches the center of the storm cloud and finds Johnny Sorrow standing atop a floating assembly of stolen weather control devices, with the King of Tears gazing out from a bleeding hole in the sky behind him.

I wonder though, how Willpower can function as Enlightenment, and how this alignment would last. I mean, Paulphidian primarily functioned by doing whatever they wanted, but Willpower?

Willpower is goal-centric, but almost blindingly so. This shall be done, but afterwards? What would happen afterwards? At least avarice wants everything, but Willpower needs guidance before it can achieve anything. Once this is all over, what would happen to Guy?

He'll likely be as all over the place just as much as Paulphidian, I reckon. Paulphidian wanted to be accepted, wanted their friends and family, but Guyion has to do his dues.

Hero-work, peace-keeping, justice, hey maybe Guy will even get to sorting out minor things that he pushed to another time, like for example washing the dishes and cleaning his house. Maybe morality will be lost in translation there somewhere, maybe not!

Hmmm... I wonder what will happen to Guy after this. Will he make a similar relationship to Ion as Paul did for the Ophidian? Or will he simply try to cut the connection?
Actually, because Green is so goal oriented, Ion will probably separate once the current goal (protecting the Americas from tsunamis) is finished (ie when the situation is resolved)

Paul takes off his rings to sleep? I thought that ended when he was attacked in the bathroom.
With his enlightenment, he can summon them to his hands from a distance, which he couldn't back then.

So I guess that means Arthur just lost the son he didn't know he had?
depends on how the artifact works. Blood sacrifice would be bad, but maybe hey are mind controlling the kid and having him weild the artifact to unleash Oceanus.

People don't see him as a 31 year old man, but as a 18 year teenager who is really mature for his age; which could very well be a side effect of the ring effecting his brain and hormones. Sure a 30 year old with an early teenager is completely wrong on every level but the fact is that if the author never explicitly stated the SI was lying about his age and was in fact an SI, PaulxZatanna would be the highly assumed relationship of this story. Alas he did, but not everybody is completely up-to-date with all of the OOC chatter of this story.

I think that when it comes to written works a lot of people have trouble keeping in mind that teenage characters are teenaged. Characters tend to default to my own age in my head most of the time, even when I know better.

Also, I think that the version of Zatanna that most people think of when they see the name is way too...mature (makes curvy motions with hands) for anybody to mistake for 15, even though YJ Zatanna isn't.

Paragon Paul never revealed his actual age but mentioned to Wonder Woman that he graduated from the equivalent of high school in order to avoid going back to school and Kid Flash told him how the others thought he was lying about his age in that he was younger than what he looks like, he probably look like he's under twenty if people mistake his age. When Artemis brought up their age difference Paul mentioned that an 18-19 year old guy dating a 14-15 year old girl is kind of skeevy and how dating her in her current situation is also pretty bad.

It's Renegade Paul who admitted that he was in his thirties and lied as to being older due to being a new god, specifically as Grayven the son of Darkseid, when he mention he was dating Cheshire/Jade and why he couldn't return her feeling and date her.

Given the fact that Captain Marvel ages up when he transforms , how martians age differently than huma, or how clones or robots act a certain age biological but are technical younger chronologically regular rules regarding age become blurry. In canon Wonder Woman brought that up as a point that Billy/Captain Marvel should step aside regarding league matters due to how in his regular he's a child despite being a part of the league for some time.

The shipping is due to fact that people find it fun and Zantanna is probably the only female character, aside from Megan, he's closest with in a platonic form that doesn't end up awkward when he tries to become closer romantically. He got shot down by Catwoman/Selena due to how young he looks, didn't know Danni/Fire Brand was attracted to him despite her kissing him along with Artemis, and how he accidentally slut shamed Harleen during their flying lesson/date.

Admittedly some people wouldn't mind the fact if it was the other way around since some people ship Paul and Diana/Wonder Woman or other older female characters, but some people would have a problem both in and out of story if he was around Zantanna's age. Maybe if she was 18 at the least then it wouldn't be as bad. Which is ironic given how chronologically old Kon is compared to Megan along with their actual biological/mental ages, which affected their relationship in canon along with Megan mind raping criminals for information.
