How would he know to look beyond Atlantis?
"His father would be the best bet, just need to use this spell to find his blood relatives on the- Huh. Interesting."

More importantly, what arcane artifact is he trying to activate? What's the full inventory on what was taken from Them-

Fuck, was the Spear in the Watchtower?

"And uh...how/why do you know this?"

"Sir, we live in a world where one Lord of Chaos and a handful of magic users was able to cause havoc on a global scale. I've made it a point to perform background investigations on every powerful magic user, artifact, or royal family I can."

"..."

"Also, I hacked into Batman's notes on everyone. Apparently he thinks I might be weak against "Love Poison"."

"While there you had a relationship with a woman named Kako. Early next year she gave birth to a boy, Koryak. Based on that timeline and observations on his physiology, including unusual strength and resistance to the cold, I think it most likely that he is a Pureblood Atlantean and your natural son. According to police reports he went missing two days ago. Witness testimony says that he was picked up from school by 'an odd-smelling man' who claimed to be his uncle."
"And...why didn't you tell me about this child when you found out?"

This arc has been great so far. OL has always had reasonably competent opponents, but it's been a highlight of this arc so far.

Also, while OL did ask to speak with Arthur in private, I think he should have insisted on it some more. That was a pretty massive bomb to drop. Still, at least he tried. Next time, when OL asks for a sidebar, listen to him.

I think an interesting question is Aquaman might ask Orange Lantern is"why did you never tell me I had another child?"

EDIT: Ack, I missed B.B. Rain's comment.

He'll probably ask in the next installment.
My guess is that the Light did this to activate the Vault Key, but how powerful is the Dominion thingy? Could it command the helmet of Fate? does anyone remember all the magic artifacts mentioned in the story so far?

Not sure about the Spear, but I'll remind people of Johnny Sorrow's attack and about the Key he grabbed. To make a long story short, it's one of those "Key that can open any door" type of deals(IIRC).

Now, think about what's happening over in Renegade Town. The Light want to unleash the King of Tears to kill the Justice League.

Both odds and narrative convention is that they're probably planning the same thing in Paragon Verse.

So to recap, they've got an Atlantean artifact that enables one to control magical artifacts and they may or may not have an Atlantean artifact that opens any doors.

Also of note: The next update is the first in the episode "Titanfall." Methinks the Paragon side will be unleashing something other than the King of Sorrows.

I was a bit confused by this at first. Perhaps "Early the following year" may work better.
Thank you, corrected.

Thing is, Aquaman is the leader of a nation that has just been attacked and may still be under attack. While he would be happy to make time for the SI after the crisis has passed he isn't going to abandon a crisis management meeting without a very good explanation. And if the explanation is 'I know of a relative you may have overlooked' he's going to consider it a matter of state and tell the SI to say who it is at once. Plus, the SI has no idea how much time they have to save Koryak and/or prevent teh Light accessing Oceanus. Waiting for an indeterminant period of time isn't an option.

Sure, but it's not like he couldn't have used his ring so that the king was the only person who heard him speak. Or even just whisper it into his ear.

Yeah, I know. Just my way of griping about Pavlos keeping his SI origins a secret. I still think it's so dumb.

I know it's a moral difference between me and other people. I don't like withholding the truth from people. Some can handle doing that sort of thing. I can't, especially not with people I admire.

Well, is it the truth?

Let's look at two scenarios, and try to determine which of them is more likely.

1. The SI is exactly who he thinks he is, a person from a parallel universe. In that origin universe, there exist comic books which, with high accuracy, describe what has, and (to an extent) what will happen across the multiverse he now find himself in. The comic writers and illustrators have some kind of weird psychic link to the multiverse, where they have been inspired by, or somehow create the events.

2. The SI was created ex nihilo by some being of god-like power (there are multiple candidates who could have done this on this planet alone) who believes he came from a parallel universe. Said god-like being also implanted past and future knowledge of the multiverse into the SI. The SI may have invented memories of reading about all this via comic books to make it all easier to accept. Having knowledge in your own brain that seems to come from nowhere is a sign of brain damage or other insanity, and said creator of the SI didn't want that either. Creating some additional false memories about reading comics is practical option, because comic books also exist in the multiverse.

From the point of view of someone living inside the DC multiverse, which is really more likely?

I know that Zoat has presented the story to us as option 1, but he plays the long game...

Titanfall could equally refer to:
1) Diana being killed
2) The League falling
3) Gaia being killed
Given how utterly overwhelming the Light's current level of power is, I'm going to assume any or all of those to be likely. My prediction that OL's departure from Earth is basically him being chased out by the techno-arcano-demonic forces of the New World Order, carrying the last survivors of the Hero Purge with him, is looking to be the more likely option.

I recall a Worm SI fanfic that used an idea very close to that. When the authorities found out that the SI claimed to be from another world where he'd read about theirs in Worm, they decided he was probably a precognitive driven a bit crazy by his power who was rationalizing his power-granted knowledge by imagining he'd read it in a story in another world. It struck me as funny because after all, they might well be right.

Sephtian didn't want it in Atlantis and OL wanted it in Themyscira, so probably not.

The league could easily retaliate. Flash with a spelleater in an orichalcium scry-protected armor armed with the Sword of the Fallen could quite literally decimate hell. The question is, will the League retaliate, not can they.

1) OL just aired a bit of dirty laundry that throws the line of succession into serious doubt. Also king's marriage. They are going to ask him why he didn't bring this up before now, at least in private.
An unlegitimized bastard does not, in fact, throw the line of succession into serious doubt.
