Shepard Quest Mk VII, Age of Revy (ME/MCU)

Do laser shotguns and SMG's count as part of laser small arms, or do they need to be researched in their own field.

Also [X] No. Even if she wanted to, the Systems Alliance would want to keep her on Mindoir, considering how much of a strategic asset they would see her as. If the Batarians are going to attack her, better while she is on a heavily armed and fortified planet than on the battlefield, where she is more vulnerable.

Well, what else do you expect if you actually give them a valid reason to discriminate somebody, lol. Having attacked your people is generally a good reason to treat somebody differently.
That logic is still pretty racist and illogical. As mentioned the First Contact 'War' not only lasted just a few but killed around 3-400 people. On top of that when the other council races found out what the Turian patrol had done they immediately tried to get everyone to calm the hell down move to peace. The only understandable reason that Midoir people may have issues with racism would be the Batarian pirates and even then it's noted that the only Batarian's seen outside their territory are criminals and pirates funded by the Hegemony with the rest of the civilians living under North Korean like conditions and restrictions.

it's pretty ridiculous that a number humans are so xenophobic against all aliens when most of them in general have been pretty chill. Seriously the only people that are actively hostile against humanity at a societal level are the Batarian's and that's only for the main government.

I mean, it may be racist but that racism has actual grounding in the fact that yes, they attacked, no, they didn't come in peace. That tends to taint your thoughts in regards to a race. They attacked without provocation. It's logical that you fear further attacks, which is why you generally want them out. And killing "only" 300-400 when even a couple being killed nowadays is considered a major tragedy is absolutely underselling the point, they massacred people essentially. Fact is, they gave those racist thoughts actual grounding in reality and it's not the "you are inferior because of your skin colour, so you don't belong" but "your people actually killed our people, so you don't belong".

Should note that the aliens did in fact come in peace considering that not only did their other alien allies immediately showed up as soon as they learned what happened with peace literally being the intention but if the Turian's did really want to fight humanity at that point they could have easily won. And on a scale as big as theirs a few hundred people would still be the current real life equivalent of less than a dozen guys getting killed in a border skirmish.

Not saying that there wouldn't be racists, just that said racists would seem like the kind of people that would have been racist to other humans due to xenophobia. Except with the revelation of aliens existing a lot of it just switched from xenophobia towards other humans to literal aliens. Even if it did leave some negative impressions it seems like it would mostly be wariness and from people who didn't interact with aliens much.

Heck in real life after a few decades people don't seem to really care about past war incidents as long it wasn't that serious and again FCW was just an incident and not a real war.
hmmm, would you guys like me to explain the vote option and what the invisitext means?
Didn't even realize that there was invisitext. That said I'd say that it seems like our headquarters is going to be attacked which a lot of people have seen coming due to past experience. So the options seem to be go on the front lines during the attack or deal with an attack on our home turf.

One minor vote
Will Revy personally take to the field?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No But actually Yes?
Invisitext for those that haven't seen it. Ironically it seems that going on the front lines may lead to Revy missing the potential attack on Mindor. Which would actually be hilarious in a way since that could lead to the Batarian's becoming incredibly confused and furious when they learn that Revy wasn't even there when they launched a big ass attack hoping to kill or capture her.

Still it does give people a good excuse to have a good reason to have Revy involved in a huge fight in story.

On the other hand, this was First Contact. Getting attacked at First Contact tends to leave scars and makes a species distrustful. So I'm surprised that the xenophobia is so mild actually.

To give you an impression: This is almost like what happened to Japan when America forced them to open their country. People with more advanced tech force themselves into your sovereign land. It's just that it could be argued that they arguably played that off as people going rogue because it lets them get a better position during negotiation. Show and demonstrate that they have the bigger stick and so on.

Humanity is likely also more overt in their racism because:

1) It's considered more "acceptable" given how humanity is at war with an alien race.

2) Humanity can afford to be more racist due to our technology giving them an edge. Otherwise they'd probably think twice about talking shit against interstellar empires who have been travelling the stars for thousands of years.

This prejudice is likely to fall both because of the batarians briefly beating humanity back and the council actually aiding us.

Of course some political parties (Terra Firma) are likely going to try counter this by giving the people the real reason the council is choosing to help now.

Human politics over aliens are going to be a doozy over the next few years.

More importantly, can we make directed energy based grills/ovens?

Because laser based cooking probably opens up all sorts of options.
