[X] …in the Supreme Chancellor's office.

I'll go with it. Its arguable as to whether its a good option or a bad one, really, and its probably both simultaneously. But it at least seems a more useful danger.

It might not win but so be it.
My point was moreso that he's not going to drag this crisis out because the jedi will begin loosing faith in the republic. He's fine with Anakin loosing faith that's what this exercise is probably for, but the whole reason Sheev's clone trick worked was because it trapped the Jedi in their role as the official defenders of the republic a more independent order is not something that he will risk for Anakin points. Thus so going to Nabou or especially the Senate kinda has to succeed, imagine what it would do to Sheev's career if the trade federation got away with something like this so blatantly his mandate when he replaced Valorum was that this sort of thing wouldn't happen again. What do you think happens to his career if Padme where to call him out like Valorum. Palpatine probably knows this and so he won't jeopardize his career, instead he will play the sensible chancellor and approve it.
I'm calling your bluff Sheev.

I think that Mace Windu needs to step up in front of the Senate and read out the 'Cease and Desist' notice ... and then tell the Senate to go piss up a rope.

While Palps absolutely could stop this, its odds are more than good that he started it in the first place so I doubt any sort of resolutions from him will come without its own poison pill. If the galactic Senate holds to the pattern it is always shown in, I feel like its a guaranteed additional stressor for Anakin when any proposal dies in committee or gets loaded up with so may riders and amendments its unrecognizable and unpassable. Padme, on the other hand, could potentially raise or lower our stress but also help by not only trying to rally the senate from the inside but by waging a hearts and minds propaganda campaign to leverage the Naboo invasion as a parallel to the situation on Kalee.

Seems like the best choice, going to Palpatine might get things done faster, but that's likely exactly what he wants us to do, and I don't like playing to his tune.

I think the "poison pill" is more that he becomes seen as more reliable to Anakin - and the Order, for that matter - and that it bolsters the 'mandate' that got him into his position.

When it comes to Anakin and longer-term plans, Palpatine is probably not that concerned with 'tempting' Anakin or frustrating him; it's going to be about establishing him as someone that can be trusted to give good advice or to help solve problems. Generating a problem that he can then solve (or that ends up damaging the Order's reputation with one or another party) is a simple enough way to do that.

That said, the danger in regards to Palpatine is just that - it risks "going to Palpatine" as being a habitual option for Anakin and possibly shaping one of his Traits, when one of the higher priorities should probably be to prevent that from happening. Not perhaps as high as Anakin both learning how to use and trusting in institutions (like the Order) to get things he wants done done, but Palpatine options should be taken with caution.

Of course, I also think that interactions with Padme could be hazardous. On one hand, she's canonically the biggest chink in Anakin's armor against temptation. On the other, a key aspect of their romance in canon was how they didn't really interact much (if I recall right) between Episode I and II. Continued interaction might (if they still go down the path to romance) lead to a more stable relationship - or even something more like Obi-Wan and Sabine's than like the canonical one.

Honestly, Obi-Wan's love life is so hilarious.

Anakin's out there having a crisis about being tempted by one person to give up being a Jedi to be a romance partner, meanwhile Obi-Wan has, like, 2-4 Love Interests that he agonizes over before repeatedly choosing "Jedi" if you count some of the more obscure people out there.

Interestingly, if Anakin had been aware of it... he might well have taken the same course, thinking Obi-Wan had found the "right path". Well... for a time, at least; perhaps long enough to delay developments like "Padme's pregnant" past where it can be used by Palpatine in the rise to the climax of his plans.

Which would be an interesting thought - Anakin certainly has the same flaws for Palpatine to exploit, but they're a little less acute than "Padme's gonna die!!!" dreams; he'd need to find another angle to convince Anakin that he had to protect Palpatine to protect what he loved.

Hmm. Now, who do we know who'd be very good at making a public spectacle of some corrupt businessmen? Who could give us some personal guidance on how to become a good diplomat?

Ah perfect, glad to see we're on the same page about our good friend and pal in the senate.

Ok. Now how about someone who fits those criteria AND who you could safely leave in the presence of minors?

Okay fiiiine we can do something sensible and reasonable instead.

In all honesty though, you had a very good writeup. I'm coming down to about the same point I think, though I do still think the senate option is valuable on its own.

Tbh I do kind of assume "Anakin and Padme fall in love, get married in some form, have Luke and Leia" is a canon event, so to speak- it's a core aspect of Anakin's character and something that would be a challenge to navigate on this "try to avoid the walking iron lung" quest.

It would be nice to see it develop in a healthier direction that it did "OTL", though

Each choice has a cost, the question is which we are most willing to pay:

Padme: Costs time which may be too long
Senate: Costs stress and may fail
Palpatine: Costs falling under the influence of a sith lord

I think the highest cost is clear to see, and comparing the other two... Naboo seems to be clearly the best option available in my opinion.

Also, as @dreameater pointed out, this is likely a bluff that Palpatine cannot afford to let play out since it would damage his long-term plan for the jedi order. That remains true regardless of whether we go to him. Call his bluff; ignore him and force him to act to help even without our talking to him!
