Thousand Isles (Riot God Quest)

The talk of lineages brings up an interesting point; how do the Skull Pirates reproduce? Are they manufactured by the Lady Luck or are new crewmates forged by enterprising Captains looking to literally make indentured workers who must pay off the debt incurred by their own creation?

Furthermore, and I really mean no offense by this, how do gender identities work for them? Presumably there are no physical differences based on gender but are there societal gender roles among them? Is it purely a matter of personal identity unrelated to outside factors? This post and others showed that they do have male and female genders at least but is that just because of how they were built or something else?

Do the Skull Pirates even bother questioning the details of their own existence or are they too busy swashbuckling to care?

Lady Luck manufactures them.

I, the author, did not want to use "it" all the way through. That is confusing, at least on my end. Also, it would be a bit boring seeing only "it" and using other pronouns would at least give extra variety. I am using He and She because those are the other pronouns in English, but they could have very well been Xe and Ze.

The genders are an aesthetic choice. There's no exact expectations for each gender. Choosing a gender is like choosing a username in an MMO. You are expected to keep it for the rest of your life, but does not necessarily have any meaning.
Do the Skull Pirates even bother questioning the details of their own existence or are they too busy swashbuckling to care?
Yes on the latter.

Hmm... Potentially-stupid thought here...

[] Starcore Pirates
-Upgrades the Iron Skull Pirates to use Sunstone-based internal solar engines in addition to their standard power sources. The additional power gives a corresponding improvement to performance, and is frequently used to power additional built-in weaponry; fortunately, this additional power source is not strictly necessary and can thus be disabled or even omitted in the event of a Sunstone shortage.

Not 100% sure if I should go with this Act or come up with something else; I haven't been sleeping well lately (as in, I literally didn't sleep last night) so it's kinda hard to think. If I do, though, I might introduce the ability to synthesize Sunstone (inferior to "natural" Sunstone to maintain its value, but easier to get in bulk) at a later point.

Thank you @MangoFlan that answers all of my questions neatly. Bit confused about the MMO example but I believe I understand your point. And the use of pronouns does make their scenes easier to read.

[X] Sandians

Sandians are slender bird humanoids with flickering, wings that allow them to easily fly over the sandy sea. Their bodies are covered with beautiful, golden feathers that are easily combined with desert sands, which makes them almost invisible. The faces decorate their sharp, bird beaks and piercing eyes that can see a lot of miles through the vast landscape of the sandy sea.

The Sandians are able to control the winds, creating sand storms to disorient and confuse attackers who dare to approach the graves of treasures. They have experience in air battle, using their dexterity and speed to surpass any potential threats. Sandians can also perfectly hide themselves with the environment, which makes them almost impossible for detection until it becomes too late. Also, the priests of Sandians are available for psammokinesis, because of which to defeat them in the sandy sea will be a difficult task.

These creatures violently protect the tombs of treasures in which they live and the relics located there are the objects of worship for the Sandians. Only the priests that the heads of the tribes can interact with the relics of any violation that it dares to violate this rule awaits the fate of the victim for the sandy sea. Despite their territorial nature, the Sandians are not aggressive in nature and will only be attacking if their tombs are at risk. But if this happens, then the Sandians will fight until the last sigh.

The additional power gives a corresponding improvement to performance, and is frequently used to power additional built-in weaponry; fortunately, this additional power source is not strictly necessary and can thus be disabled or even omitted in the event of a Sunstone shortage.

A side effect of this additional power source is that any Pirate with a Sunstone installed emits a hellish glow from its eyes, mouth, and any other applicable openings. While this glow is not dangerous in any way, they still tend to like it since it makes them more intimidating.

This is a treasure, which appears like a familiar type of chest. It is full of stacked Glitched Seeds. These seeds have all the usual properties of Minecraft Crops and slight glimmer of enchantment. However, it is impossible to tell what will grow out of them when they are planted. Each seed will grow into a randomized type of Minecraft type crop, which later can be cultivated as usual and have its own quirks. It can be something already existing, like golden carrots and apples, but it can also be something else such as beetroot, potato, sugar cane, berries, birch or something more exotic. Or even dangerous. It is a gamble for each seed planted. It destined to be found by Merela hier, lover or friend.

[X] inch-drake dragonic meditation

A form of meditation all inch-drakes knows instinctively. Those that practice it slowly evolve into inch-dragons. They slowly gain dragonic power until it stops having a effect when they become inch-dragons. The inch-dragon offspring will always be inch-drakes. The kind of power and dragon they become dependent on the inch-drake.

[X] Shrine of Value

A jade and golden statue of a iron skull pirate captain holding aloft a chest overflowing with wealth. A pool around its feet is filled with shifting void sands swirling and moving but never leaving the pool. One can place anything into this pool which then turns into more of the sands. Then the individual has a choice if they reach in they can pull out treasure worth half again whatever they placed into it. The other choice is to leave taking a token of the statue. If they can take a raid or capture more value than they placed in the shrine they can crush the token and receive thrice the value they placed into the pool. However one can only give and get from the shrine once in all their time, and the token lasts only a year and a day after being taken. The statue depicts the iron skull pirate that has captured the most wealth with the token with the original statue being of the wealthiest current pirate. Should a non-iron skull pirate come to the shrine they can gain its benefits but can not have the shrine take their form.

A very bold Act but might as well try

[X] The Sea and The Ship
For the Iron Skull Pirates two figures hold special importance: the Sand Sea (source of treasures and dangers alike) and the Lady Luck (their home and valiant protector). As these thoughts fill the land, what was once just natural phenomena and cold machinery is tainted by emotion and purpose. And just like that a new existence is born, a soul of belief and greed seperated in two opposing minds:

A mind of mechanical gears made of the Lady Luck and all machines connected to it.

A mind of shifting currents made of the Sand Seas and all things tied to it (Debris whales, Treasure Tombs, etc).

Though filled with potential, the newborn minds will be weak and only capable of affecting things in the smallest way possible. Ex: the Sand Seas might shift its currents to make a trip slightly more comfortable, the Lady Luck might use her systems to keep a house refrigerated.

[X] Vault of Mammon

At the edge of the Debris Field and the Sandy Seas, floats a massive space station, it's form opulent and imperial in aesthetic. Within its depths lies vast treasures, mounds of gold, silver, platinum, and myriad gemstones that would be the envy of any wealth seeking adventurer. Armories filled with weapons and armor, finely crafted pristine works of art just as functional in their intended role of warfare. Fabricators filled with schematics and recipes for the finest luxury items and foods. All of the treasures within were guarded by synthetic horrors that would make even a gargonite congregation pause in caution and the most ambitious of pirates to doubt.

Swarms of robotic insects resembling horrid mixes of centipedes, ants, and bees that bit and sting to inject a hyper corrosive toxin that dissolves flesh and metal. Giant mechanical four armed Minotaurs with chainsaws for one pair of arms and hydraulic claws for the other. Spider like drones that latch onto corpses and reanimate them into zombies that act to defend the station with undying savagery.

Yet, if one can reach the control room for the station, hold out until they can hack it and take control, the riches could be seen as worth it.
