It would be more efficient to at least give them the Cholera cure first before starting the warding. That way, we don't either 1) have to spend an extra influence mid-warding to give the cholera cure to them, or 2) get it leaked to them by the others we're giving it to during that time.

But once we give them the Cholera cure, there's no near or mid-term danger of war, so we can just wait for our action economy to get better (or for there to be fewer other things to do, or in case Khem does get hostile) anyway.

These long influence lock-aways are things we should be delaying until it's necessary (in the case of the Hung) or there's little else to do, because in the meantime the influence can be used each year for other equally/more useful things. Raising income, spreading cholera cures, diplomancing, spreading warding to Amber Road...
Agree, and that's what's in my original plan - but I would rather do *something* to ameliorate Khem relations and cholera doesn't seem popular this turn

"So anyway, hey Styrmyr, that's how we responded when someone attacked a minor neighbor. Greenshore is not a minor neighbor, it's part of our blood and soul. If you'll pretty please give it back, we can keep being f̴̠̤̹͜r͕͖͔̯̻̱̜̫͜į̶̖̣̠̖͈̮e͔̦̲͚̗̱͕̲̝n̪͙͎̺͚̲͖͢d̪͎̟̬̰͡͡s̨͚̼̘̪̼̘̀ :) :) :)"

I have made some changes to the prestige rankings. Specifically I bumped most of the peeps outside of North Saffron up by ten, and I increased Melkut Ymaryn by 3 to keep them ahead of the Hellas.

The 1607 snapshot is supposed to be taken--in this case, just barely--after "Turn 14 (1607 AD)" and any attendant profile updates, but before any further updates. In addition to serving as an independent calculation of stats, one of its intentions is to inform 1607 plan-makers as to the current situation (in this case, that there are no appeasements, so better do something); as such, the snapshot couldn't know, at the time, which is the winning plan.

The upcoming pre-1608 snapshot will take into account the winning plan, along with any mid-turn updates (edit: but not any mid-turn choices, since I can't know which ones will win).

Ideas for a less-ambiguous naming scheme would be appreciated. I've decided, for now, to go with "1607 Start" and "1607 Initial/Final Results".

News!

The Samraj of the Magyar has sent a diplomat to establish ties of communication and commerce with The People. This news is met with a consdierable amount of condesencion and tittering by the nobility of the People. The Magyar are nomads! These savages truly claim to be worthy of joining the court of the Melek?

Then again, it was the nomads who broke the old kingdom, some priests whisper. The old arrogance should be guarded against.

Meanwhile, the local nomads to the north and east of the Northern Core have sought contact and trade. They very carefully avoided giving offense. Which is odd.

[] [Magyar] Accept Diplomat and Sell Bombards (-1 Influence, +1 Treasury, unlikely minus other Kus opinion)
[] [Magyar] Accept Diplomat, no Bombards (-1 Influence)

Praise the Sun, pt 2.

The priests seem to have finally recovered their composure. Heliocentric Imperfectionism carries the day.

[10/10]

Infiltration, Black Sheep
Needed: Irrelevant, Authority

Maximilian is dead. He died in the aftermath of the second time he got kicked out of Txolla. His son has focused on building and maintaining control of the Thunder Plateau and thunder mountains. He has proven an able administrator, and many people have resigned themselves to his rule.

[Black Sheep Rumor Mill unlocked. Thunder Plateau stops being governable in 1623]

Establish Trade Enclaves, Hung:
Needed: 26+. Rolled: 41. Success.

Negotiations in progress.

[3/5]

Sell Food, Kus
Needed: 1+. Automatic Success.

You can't keep it up forever. Two years, three at most. The auguries say that only this year and the next will it be needed, fortunately. Kus is extremely grateful, all of them. Your food aid has allowed thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands who would have starved to live instead.

The biggest loser in this is Khem. Who has decided to charge as high as the market will bear for the food. Your aid is only so much, so Kus is forced to pay, yet all are able to see the differences in what is charged. You have made many friends even as the KMT has made many enemies. It is no small matter, for a number of Kus have decided to favor you in the trading of things much more valuable than food.

(+1 Influence, +.2 income at expense of Khem, +2 Kus Opinion, -2 KMT opinion)

[1/2]

Diplomatic Contact, Styrmyr
Personal Stewards of Nature, Styrmyr
Needed: 6+. Rolled: 95+5=100. Crit Success, bonus to PSN roll.
Needed: 11+. Roll: 1d10 → 6+1=7. Failure

The Styrmyr lay out a lavish feast for Melek Balthazar. The talks last almost a month, but Balthazar leaves without Greenshore. It will need to be taken by force. Once Balthazar is back in Valleyhome he draws up a formal declaration of war with the stated aims of regaining Greenshore Province.

(Styrmyr Opinion Gauge unlocked.)

Diplomatic Contact, Tarta
Needed: 11+. Rolled: 49. Success.

Tarta is the home of the Tartars, one of the groups that rolled into the Rum Impyra and smashed their attempt to reunite the realm. Which gives many in the Melkut a flashback to the Collapse, to be sure. However, the Tartars have since adopted agriculture and civilized. They have on again off again wars with the Doych and the Styrmyr, but especially feud with the Styrmyr. They recently concluded a war in which they snapped up some of the Styrmyr's northernmost territory.

(Opinion Gauge and Options Unlocked)

Sell Guns, Behryvar
Needed: 26+. Rolled: 74. Success.

Behryvar is not interested in guns at this particular time, unfortunately.

Personal Action: Styrmyr Diplomacy

-

Rumor Mill:

Etal War Ends: The fighting in Etal winds down as Vynta and Ruma sign a peace where a couple of mountain fortresses on the border change hands, but nothing else. Ruma has greatly gained in prestige with this, admittedly minor, victory over the previously presumed more powerful Vynta. It is thought that Vynta came to the table because they were worried about the Hellas moving in their direction.

Pamplona Expands!: Pamplona has a new ruler, a queen. Several of her neighbors sought to depose her and install a puppet, on the grounds that a woman should not inherit, but they could not stand against the surprising amount of resources Pamplona could marshal in its defense. Having defeated them in battle she adds their lands to her own!

Khemetri Humiliated!: The KMT is feeling the pain of being in other people's eyes. All have noticed that they, the greatest power of the saffron sea, have tried to gouge Kus in their time of need. At the same time as the Melkut Ymaryn, a kingdom still on its knees twenty years after facing a nomad horde, practically gives its food away to the hungry. Is KMT truly so desperate for cash that they must stoop to this?

Trade with the nomads is good. Friendly relations is almost always good and it might get us more money or access to stuff we wouldn't to otherwise or at least not as easily.

With the Magyar, we should accept and sell. We can afford to lose that Influence since it basically means we lose the once we gained this turn. Plus we are going to have to bite the bullet at some point and by having Magyar contact us, we don't have to spend an action contacting them. Likewise with the selling guns, we get to gain Treasury without spending an action. We can afford to take an unlikely chance of losing opinion since we just gained a bunch this turn. Plus we didn't gain any Treasury from our planned gun sale.

That moment when you just get done losing a war with a minor and jump right into a war with a major, because you give no fucks.
Sometimes people don't want what your selling. In this case Behryvar, or however you spell it, doesn't want to spook its neighbors for reasons.
So they don't feel like kicking off the Nth Germanic Civil War?

No they aren't? They don't have the territory or army size to be majors in anything other than name. By that standard Hellas would be a major, which they are not as one can see by how easily they folded whenever there wasn't a natural barrier between us and them.

They aren't a minor, but they are not a major either. The Majors are us, Khemetri, Rexum Germanum, Magyar and maybe Pamplona.

The only minors shown on the map are Highlanders and Amber Road.

Next turn, we got to dunk on Styrmyr as quickly as possible so we can start the campaign to retake Thunder Plateau. We send a War Mission, a City Levy and both Banner Companies. We will need to up relations with the Khem so we should stick an Authority on Sacred Warding. Alternatively, we could sacrifice 0.1 Income to improve Khem opinion via a trade deal if people don't want to lock up that Authority That will take up half of our actions since we will have four Influence and two Authority available next turn. I'm thinking we attempt some diplomacy with Tarta to double-team on Styrmyr if possible and try to sell some more guns to fully secure our war chest for the Mass Levy.
