Sorry this was a while ago

But like I think it is illustrative!

Geraldo Riviera is mostly a male power fantasy? He has lots of sex, powerful and attractive women from the world over talk about how much they wanna fuck him, in the games he fucks, like, a bunch of them? Even in the books he's got a pretty sizeable bodycount? The TV show he is a more settled character but he's still, like, primarily the agency-having protagonist who is cool and badass?

And I mean, there's nothing wrong with that - I like Geralt of Rivia! I like the Witcher books, I tolerate the Witcher games and I am aware of the Witcher TV show - but it is interesting that people think he's male fanservice? In any of these settings, Geralt of Rivia is an object of power fantasy, not sexual fantasy (this is not to say people don't want to fuck Geralt of Rivia, but it isn't the "main" appeal of the character.) but people - still, like, look at Geralt and assume he is fanservice just because he's cool and hot? He isn't framed or presented in a remotely similar "vibe" to, like, Jack from Mass Effect 2 or Quiet from Metal Gear Solid 5. It's just... a different thing entirely.

There's not a lot of media consumed by SV users which has male fanservice, people don't really instinctually understand what it is and isn't, I think.
I was thinking more of the bathtub scene, and a few others like that, but I do catch your meaning yeah.

And no worries about the lateness or whatever

...

To continue, there was at least one character in a tv show that I quite liked for what I'm fairly sure was unintended fan service (Alex Kamal in the Expanse, that accent and voice), but then it came out that the actor had been sexually harassing women, and it really just soured the whole thing and made me kinda question myself a little.

Given the historic behavior of the video game industry I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't even running the character designs past female focus groups, especially not the American companies. They've generally looked at women as incomprehensible eldritch beings whose desires cannot be understood, not even by sticking their head out of the office door and yelling "Hey Carol, does this look good?"

It's not a matter of running designs past female focus groups. It's about keeping their main branch of customers as happy as they can without them being in panic. Companies are perfectly capable of introducing new ideas and forcing certain fanbase's to sit down and eat their food like what happened with Mortal Kombat 11.

But for something like FGO, male swimsuits will have people crying dooooommmmm over the fact a slot for a swimsuit that pushes the limits of the ratings was given to a male character who would have safe as hell summer designs. If the doomsayers already have worries about modest swimsuit designs, having male characters in the game get Summer skins for a fanservice laden game would be seen as the end times

And they will absolutely use the misinformation to kill community morale as well from personal experience.

I don't know. To me, the best solution seems to be just don't play Gachas and let the whole genre die. There are real men in the real world that are really hot.

Gamers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your overpriced PNGs!

SEA and South American Gamers: Never. Your Californian Overlords can take away all things lewd in Senran Kagura that drives out Takakiz but you will never take away Japan, Korea and China making overpriced PNG collectors from us.

Unfortunately, the SEA and SA gacha community are too attached to the medium since some parts of the western audience gets sensitive to lewd content on social media

You really do only have one setting don't you.

Unfortunately all hope is lost because Gachas have also diversified into mechs.

You could've done something if it were just furries, as paying many furry artists is cheaper than doing the gacha, but mech artists are a very limited luxury.

Elaborate, was it because I mentioned Takaki again?
How do I put this...

Whenever you post, it consistently feels like you've read, like, two articles on the topic about a decade ago, then decided "All right, that's enough, I now know everything there is and will be about that." and then based your entire worldview around that, to an unshaking, unviolable degree.

Meanwhile, not only has the rest of the world generally abandoned the ideas of those articles and moved on, they were of dubious validity even back when they were just released. And all the bogeymen, all the drama, all the issues that you consistently talk about have been long forgotten and were likely never even an issue in the first place.

That's how you always end up reading, at least to me.

Thanks for the explanation, but yeah I kind of get stuck.in the past thinking it still holds true today.

What's Moaism?

Also, Multi-Level-Marketing.
Multi level marketing is a kind of sales pyramid scheme where you sell to people you recruit into the scheme, who pay you a commission for bringing them into it (and you in turn pay those who recruited you), in addition to the normal sales commission for selling product. It's insidious because it often works by word of mouth: your friend recruits you, so you help them out, and you in turn recruit your friends who help you out. But like all pyramid schemes, it's an elaborate scam that mostly benefits the originator.

tbh i was only bringing up gachas because gbf is the best example i can think of and fgo works as a great counterexample :V
FGO works as such a great counterexample that you picked the softest softball possible and still had an excellent illustration of how FGO fuckin' hates anyone who thinks men are hot.

I think about Douman and I get incensed about Douman.

effgo goes all in on the whole 'admiring cool boys from afar' thing. Like the archetypal 'sexy' FA for a guy is staring wistfully off into the distance somewhere, maybe holding a flower or something else.

I think Douman specifically doesn't like me considering how much quartz I wasted trying to gain him,
I literally have alot of his "outer god" "allies?" In my Chaldea like Koyanskaya and Muramasa, still waiting for him to "pick up my calls"

I'm curious if Disney's Twisted Wonderland gacha game somehow does not count male fanservice.
