Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

Your salty tears are Ambroisa to me.

I'm a spirit of salty tears and contentious lost votes my DE is through the roof.

To be fair to lurkers, this quest's type of voting is scary. So many options, and even worse, budgeting! Praise be to the plan makers, who simplify it enough for the layman.

On a completely unrelated note, is there a Spirit of Salt trait the we can pick up?

The Worst Goddamn Vote: The Omake

The stars watched, their incandescent fury little more than cold, distant dots in the night sky, as the spirit twisted and turned, seeking definition, seeking meaning.

It couldn't decide.

The Moon hung overhead, casting a cool, wan light over still waters, embodying change and reflection, and still the spirit couldn't decide, for it had to make a decision now, and the future would fall as it may.

The Sun, too, watched, warming it's waters just enough that perhaps a petitioner could survive the journey, were the waters not roiling with tension and debate, as the spirit warred with itself.

The Villagers slunk around, incapable of avoiding the problem, for they needed food, and the fish ran thickly.

The Hunter did not even notice.

The nearby Constellation did not notice, either.

...

What would come? What would fade?

Whither would the voices that hung in a silent, vicious debate take it?

Would the world even give a damn? No, it had lasted past worse problems before, and would again.

The Moon? Change was all it knew. This, too, would change, change, and change again.

The distant, cold stars, upon which all was writ - well, almost all, sometimes people erased things - took note, and shifted ever so slightly; enough that for any who looked, they would know, too. But few, indeed, looked in this place, and those farther away looked for other things, worried about what was close to their homes.

...

Placid waters sat right next to roiling waves, the turbulent waters of the Teeth of the Sea ebb and flow. Sea breezes blow icy winds, as winter descends once again, and the land is painted a stark, bleak white.

Still no decision has been made, no choice determined, yet it is time.

It must decide. The Endless Waters must become more than what they presently are.

The Stars are no help, the future is clouded until a decision is made.

The Moon is no help, Change is already upon it, and future change will is yet to be determined.

The Sun is no help; it's light shines onto all.

The Earth is no help, it does not care.

The Voices are no help, split evenly on a decision it considered a mere starting point, rather than the be-all, end-all of its existence.

The Hunter is no help, not that any was expected, or even desired.

The Constellation is no help - it, too, has other concerns.

A wan, pale sliver of moon hangs over the horizon.

It is time. Perhaps something else will make a decision?

Gears turn endlessly in the background, and reality moves on, as the spirit ceases to be in a faint wisp of energy.

*-*-*-*

No idea what to call this, just came to me. Seems to fit.

Definite 'Bad End' though, I think.

Edit: Title thought of by our wondrous QM, adding it here to reduce confusion. Err, to the top of the post...

Look at it like this. At some point, the major pantheon we undoubtedly are a part of, will require a Fear spirit.

Wouldn't you rather it be us instead of ages of arguing about the trustworthiness of an NPC?

But a Pantheon does not need a Fear Spirit. Their is a reason that major monsters like Typhon, Fenrir, and Jormundgandr are all imprisoned or incapacitated in some form.
Fear spirits are activley detriminal to civilization so it is in a pantheon's best interest to destroy them.

If they wanted a monster then they simply create a monster.

@Captain Spatula have we been able to convince you that we could keep people focused? You have seen how much effort Both Pandemonium and I have put forth to ensure things. Spirit of Exploration need not be some far off dream!

I don't doubt that you and ivy can keep on target. Faith would be easier to use for exploration though. And to be fair, fear seems to be an opening into madness. If just picking faith or fear can be this contested I genuinely don't wanna know how turn votes will go because almost every turn there'll be an upgrade.

Turn plans are going to be so split for a fear spirit (and faith to a lesser extent) because some people want different traits. I'd be voting for whatever would fit the exploration/travel path. So fish and exploring. Someone else might want squids and a new elemental affinity so they'd further split the votes and it'll just be hell.

So thank you for trying, but I'll stick to faith. Either way it'll be interesting.
