It almost definitely is an overture. I don't think SLL would warn us in person otherwise.

I like the way that Sun appears to be of the opinion that a bunch of schoolchildren who helped in some very small way with kickstarting an alliance somehow remain responsible for it to the point that threatening them would have a chance in hell of accomplishing anything. She's just so self-important that the idea the whole thing was kicked upstairs and is now out of the hands of everyone at her level is inconceivable.

I'm not really worried about Bai Xiao Fen. Assuming that she accepts her alliance with Gan, she'll be fine without real guidance for some time. And we'll make good on our promise to Meizhen anyway, since we've invested AP into it.

Let's confront our topic of family on the heels of the other big family event in recent times. It'll be more fitting than going off somewhere else for an arc or two and then returning to the topic of family.

A nice theory was brought up in the discord a moment ago, where she might be doing this because we accidentallied her faction's attempt to seize power again.

Because the Outer Sect Mountain basically had an etch-a-sketch taken to it after the Winter's Muse Tribulation, which means any caches she and her side left behind there is fuckin' gone now.

More importantly, the Cai Faction remnants are better organized, which meant that they were a lot more likely to be the ones who picked up the prizes from the 'Impromptu Trials'. Likely got a solid credit booster too, and ended up defusing Thunderdome on account of blizzard.
