[X] She was going to sit in on final lesson with Elder Ying

This is for saying farewells, we got at least two more reasons to see Su Ling again, between Diao/Fox politics and Gan's romance, as well as one more reason to see Guan Zhi again in the Ith-ia war.
We're never going to see Elder Ying, the most influential teacher on our Way again, in all likelihood.
It just makes better story.

To be fair, during the last vote, I didn't pick Suyin + Hua Su based on Suyin v Su Ling. I picked it based on Elder Su v Guan Zhi because we're going to see the SuSu duo one way or another. The same for Guan Zhi, if she appears in the war arc. But we won't see Elder Su again, so I wanted to talk to her. It's the same for Elder Ying. We won't see Elder Ying again, and she, like Han Jian and the music club, has helped Ling Qi immensely during Forge of Destiny. It's as simple as that.

Paying Respects is all about saying goodbye to all the people who have helped us along the way. All the people we're leaving behind. It has been pushed back a lot because it would be too early to say goodbye. Now that we're finally saying goodbye, I want to actually say goodbye to the people we're leaving behind. Su Ling and Suyin just don't fit that image. Yes, it'll take a while to meet them, and it'll be really long irl, but it's as simple as that (at least for me).

And I really dislike the reductive description of Elder Ying's help. You can literally classify Jiao and Xin in the same way. The challenge which gave us our first Moon art took a day or two, and Jiao gave us thieving lessons for a similar amount of time as Elder Ying (I think it was a month). They still had a big impact on how we developed. It's the same with Elder Ying. Without her challenge and her help, we wouldn't have Zhengui or TRF. Meizhen wouldn't have Earth. Suyin wouldn't have started on her current path. Small ripples create big waves, and we have to acknowledge that and thank the people who started us on our path. That's the whole point of Paying Respects.

You can't be possibly comparing Xin's help with Ying's. Jiao is kinda true, even if a month is a lot longer than a week.
Xin has been helped and guided Ling Qi a lot. Not only on pure cultivation or arts, but also in personal ways, like when she celebrated Ling Qi's birthday. She was the one that was there for her right after Zeqing died. And much more. There is a reason she appeared as a flickering "mother" during Ling Qi green breakthrough.

You are overblowing Ying's contribution. It was a week of turoring. A WEEK. TRF was great. We got Zhengui in her trial, but that's hardly enough to say Ling Qi got him "thanks to her". She taught Ling Qi how to raise him. But that's it. Her contributions to Meizhen (I don't know what you are talking about regarding Suyin) shouldn't be a factor to decide to vist her now.
It isn't nearly so transcendental as you are making out to be. I would wager than Ling Qi hasn't even tought about Elder Ying for over a year now.
If we want to show our gratitude to someone, I would rather it be our dress's maker (I can't remember the name). He has influenced Ling Qi A LOT more than Elder Ying.

We aren't leaving Ying behind because there is nothing to leave behind. That's what people don't understand. Elder Ying is not relevant. On the other hand, this is the last chance we have to talk with Su Ling in over 3 months, maybe more.
You talk about thanking the people who has helped us. Well, how much has Su Ling helped us? Last time she was severely hurt and suffered a traumatic revelation. Is Ling Qi just going to completely ignore her? And no, that she talks with her off-screen doesn't count.
Su Ling is most assuredly going to participate in underground missions long before Ling Qi meets her again, and we are not even meet with her before we leave the Sect? That's nonsense.

I was fine with either Li Suyin or Su Ling beacuse they are both important to Ling Qi. I was against Elder Su because she isn't relevant to Ling Qi. This update just proved that. It was generic congratulations, warnings and farewells. Elder Ying won't be any different.
I honestly don't understand what people are expecting out of it. Even talking about Zhengui's mother is a stretch, specially since Ling Qi hasn't ever bothered to introduce him to his father.

This is the first option this arc I actively dislike, instead of just having a preference.

[X] She would see Su Ling next, who would be coming out of military drill with her former commander Guan Zhi

Grumpy fox comeback, I believe.

Going by the vibe of the last update LQ is not really saying goodbye to her close friends. LS was mostly narrative window dressing for the goodbye with Elder Su. With the way the votes went, Paying Respects turned out to be mostly Lady Ling's goodbye to her Sect grown political/mentor connections.
From that standpoint, finishing the arc with Elder Su > Ying > Jiao feels quite fitting.

When the Su Ling Diao/Fox story arc comes around after the Summit it will have my vote.

*Sigh* I guess we'll leave interacting with Su Ling for the first time in 3 turns after her world-changing dream adventure "for later", as in 4 whole turns for a minimun of 7 turns total. But, hey, no worries. The thread will totally remember it eventually and absolutely choose it instead of whatever new plot that hasn't been ignored for more than 1 real life year.

How come that doesn't inspire me much confidence?

I believed someone called us ignoring Su Ling in one of the previous votes. Said that we won't follow through on meeting her. Looks like they are right :(

I had no idea this was going to be the final vote...my eyes must have skipped over that bit. If I hadn't missed it, I would've made a big effort post when the vote started. And now we're skipping an actual goodbye to one of our closest friends...The fact that we may see her soon doesn't change the fact that the goodbye arc to the Sect would be incomplete without Su Ling. After asking on Discord, I've confirmed she'll just be mentioned, basically...

You've got a point about how we haven't talked to Su Ling in a while, but it doesn't feel like it's been awhile, probably because those Su Ling/Gan Guangli side story chapters just dropped at the beginning of the month. It doesn't feel like we're neglecting her because we feel like we've seen her just this turn, even if we haven't really.

I still kind of want to see Elder Ying, but it really has been awhile since we saw Su Ling.
