There Was A Different Idea: An MCU Producer Quest

[x] Plan: Bad script is bad
-[x] [Barton] Nathan Fillion – Nathan's characters tend to be incredibly likeable no atter what. And his role as Captain Mal Reynolds in Firefly show he can get the 'bucking authority' part down. He is currently working as the lead in Castle though that hasn't shown any conflicts at the moment.
-[x] [Duquesne] Sean Penn – With a colorful acting career, Sean Penn can bring the Swordsman to life with all his flaws and virtues uncovered. The main issue is that he is too busy at the moment. This might delay production (Negotiation Roll)
-[x] [Natasha] Katheryn Winnick – Katheryn took her loss well, once more auditioning for a role. The she would play Marvel's Femme Fatale seems to fit her well enough; you can see her as someone ruthless enough to work with someone just waiting to stab them when they lower their guard.
-[x] [Dean] Casper Van Dien – Breaking out thanks to the Cult Classic Starship Troopers which garnered him a huge following for his future films, this actor can bring a degree of fame to the role.
-[x] Your friends at Marvel have told you something's going on. (Roll)
-[x] Write In: Find who made that script and educate that person that badly written fanfiction is bad. Than scream at them until you feel better.
-[x] Network in Hollywood for Actors (Roll)

[X] [Barton] Jensen Ackles
[X] [Duquesne] Jean Reno
[X] [Dean] Yayan Ruhian
[X] [Natasha] Gemma Arterton
[X] Focus on smoothing any obstacles for the Technical Aspects of the production and filming of the movie (Costs all 3 actions)

[X] Plan: Nystical
-[x] [Barton] Karl Urban
-[x] [Duquesne] Jean Reno
-[x] [Dean] Yayan Ruhian
-[x] [Natasha] Gemma Arterton
-[x] Focus on smoothing any obstacles for the Technical Aspects of the production and filming of the movie (Costs all 3 actions)

I have to disagree with this plan name solely because the script isn't bad, it's actually pretty good, it just isn't as jaw-droppingly amazing as our other scripts, which have had extremely amazing rolls. Also, please cut Stahelski and Leitch some slack, they're new to directing and trying their best, lol. :V

Bad fanfiction is bad fanfiction! I shall not accept anything less than the best when it comes to our films! Or they shall meet our inner Hulk! HULK SMASH!;)

Alright, I'll be closing the votes here.

With 9 votes over 7, Jensen Ackles wins. Now, I'll be rolling to see if the negotiations are succesful. It will be with a malus due to the conflict, with Karl Urban being the next option if the roll fails.

Though if I may say something? I'm surprised you went with Gemma rather than Winnick, but I love the creativity and the unexpected!

Edit:

...Yikes!

Okay, Karl Urban it is.

Oof, well it was worth the try. Since we never know what the RNG Gods will give us unless we risk it. I do like Karl Urban so I'm okay with the outcome. :)

Could we somehow find a way to make Jensen look older than Urban? Asking for possible casting choices in the future.

When you last left Chad and David with the script you'd worried. This was their first time directing a film, and you'd just thrown them off the deep end on their first try. Thinking back, you can now understand the real anger that your superiors had when you went and gave them control of a character that while popular still had not broken into mainstream thought.

That's why you had decided to give as much aid as possible. You were not a Director, and your experience as such is limited to the one production where you fancied yourself as a visionary and tried to film letting the actors just make their own lines.

It only took you one week to realize what a fucking stupid idea that was and hire someone that actually knew how to do the job while you hid in your office for the entire rest of the production. That no one spoke of that experience can only be summed as a small miracle.

Regardless of the fact, you may not have had the experience or full know how of a Director, but you had learned what did and didn't work; knew well enough when to speed things up or when to let them take their course; and always could give as much assistance as needed when it came to technical aspects and arrangement for the teams needed as well.

Directing was a thousand and more small details clamoring for attention, and you're sure that at least you were able to cut that number by half, allowing them to give their full focus to the actors and the scripts.

And boy where they going to need it.

The script has gone through many revisions, changes that were necessary, others that just fit closer to their vision, and some that were just plain obvious at first glance. Then there were also the small changes that happened in the middle of filming when either a Director or Actor felt inspired, and you had a recipe for either greatness or disaster.

You were hoping for the former.

You were feeling hopeful though. From the report you received both Chad and Leitch were getting into the groove (with your help) and had found Karl a delight to work with. He surprisingly took to being the second choice very well, and was ready to prove he can be as good or better than Jensen.

Now if only the news about Gemma could be as good. When you chose her you saw her body of work, her talent, and the draw for more viewers in the future. Apparently you should have thought how she would do in fight scenes. She has been giving her all, but when compared to the physicality that Ruhian (Dear God, that man can fight!) or even Urban, she falls a little flat. There is still time though, so there is still a chance for improvement at the moment.

You can almost visualize the finished film: The story of an old Agent wishing to recapture old glories playing into the Maggia's hands. His disciple seemingly following his path before rejecting it altogether, preferring to save and protect people rather than doing it for his own ego.

It might just be enough you think as you stretch and recline back.

Your moment of peace however is broken when your roaming eyes happen to notice Jon Favreau's request on your desk.

Ah yes. Of all Directors' you've work with so far, your relationship with Favreau is the one that cannot be defined conventionally. Not quite hostile, but not quite cordial. Favreau has a vision for Iron Man, a vision that you know he confided in Kevin, but one that he's only given you the bare minimum. He won't refuse to work with you, but neither can he be sure that you'll go to bat for him when the time comes.

And his request shows that as well. Marvel Execs were the ones that made sure he would retain the Director's seat for future Iron Man movies, thereby putting himself in their debt. Their price: making sure that the sequel has at the very least a connection for the future MCU films, even if that means having to cram in S.H.I.E.L.D. like it seems to be happening on every other film.

Jon has accepted this, already at work with Justin Theroux on drafts for the movie, which is when you come in.

For the draft he wants to add an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., a female agent, one that is on the Avengers. When you first read the proposal you were afraid that he was going to ask for Black Widow, but the next lines both calmed you down...and made you face palm at your forgetfulness.

She had just come back to life as well.

Barbara "Bobbi" Morse. Mockingbird. Trained Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., member of the West Coast Avengers and Clint Barton's Wife.

How had you even forgotten her?!

Seriously, it's like you focused so much on Black Widow that you blocked any other Agent from your mind.

…Although to be fair, she was supposed to be dead, and just recently came back to life. There was even some celebration last you heard from Marvel.

Well, the point is that Jon wants to have her appear, but is sure that the Creative Committee (Ike more than likely) will raise a stink over it. No matter that they are the ones asking for more connections with the overall MCU. Which is why he's asking for your support on this?

Well, this is…

On the one hand, you had been wondering on how to include a female member for the Avengers, and this would bring you the perfect chance to do so. That it would fit right in with the character's return and current popularity was a bonus.

On the other hand…this was going to cost the little support that you had managed to get from Marvel so far. And there was the possibility that Bobbi Morse would not be as well received if you could not find the right actress to play her.

So, with all that said, what was your next step?

[] [Mockingbird] Yes, give support to Favreau to use Barbara 'Bobbi' Morse for Iron Man 2 (Negotiation Roll)
[] [Mockingbird] No, do not give any support for this.

Edit: Sorry guys, I confused Mockingbird's Earth-616 name for her Earth-TRN907 one. I have fixed it now.

Ah. Well, I suppose we screwed up a little on Gemma, which is fair enough.

There also isn't anything necessarily against this, at least as far as I know, but we will need to find the right actress. Anyone have any guesses?

For now, my vote is yes, but I'm willing to change it, if others have any suggestions.

And find someone with some physical acting talent, or martial arts background.
Terminator Chronicles just got cancelled assuming real history, so we could get Summer Glau. Bree Larson may be free after Scott Pilgrim, and has decent match to the comic look for a younger agent.

I really wish we'd have used Winnick as Widow, but maybe we could have Winnick be Morse, they are both blonde.

So I'm guessing Gemma's stunt-double is doing a lot of work, maybe they can grow into the physicality of the role, but it is why I wanted Winnick ultimately.

Better to try and give support to Favreau so he'll be more willing to edit his own ideas to our own.
