You may have overestimated the Executive's patience. Leaded by Ike they closed ranks around you and nearly outright demanded that you release what you had. If it wasn't for Avi's quick intervention you may have not only been forced to do just that, but even lose some ground in their respect for you.
You made sure to thank him after the meeting, as he once more reminded you that despite him sharing your love for the characters and originality, he was also a member of the Committee and made sure to extract a promise from you to release the movie on this month no matter what. You may be trying to make the best movies around, but they live by the maxim of "Perfection is the enemy of good enough", and as far as they're concerned the movie was good enough two months ago.
Hamish Linklater Screen Presence: 99 (Reroll)
Sean Patrick Flannery Screen Presence: 64 (Reroll)+10 (Intense Focus)+10 (Intense Focus): 84
You don't know if it was the announcement that they had to finish the movie this month, or the fact that he was singled out by nearly everyone without saying anything. Though more than likely it was Sean taking Hamish to one side as they got to talking, then shouting, then fighting, before they shook hands and made peace with each other as Hamish went to Vaughn and apologized directly and begged for a second chance.
Turns out that Hamish had been resentful of the fact that he had been casted into Scarecrow almost immediately when he had originally wanted to audition for the Living Laser role. Unlike Hayden he had not been reconciled with the results and it had shown in his work. Sean had figured it out but had hoped that he'd grow out of it, and when seeing it hadn't he decided to take a more hands on approach.
And it worked wonders! Without that chip on his shoulders Hamish was able to flourish in the role, actually making Scarecrow to seem menacing, yet also fun. You can buy this version of Scarecrow, heck even the fight scenes have been improved by his new attitude.
Sean did not slack off either. With the extra time for his recovery he made sure to shore up his previous performance, more emtion is shown, flexibility that he did not have is now properly used, and soon enough the few scenes that showed him while still recovering are now replaced by new ones with him at full strength.
Now, hopefully you can face whatever comes out in April.
