There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

[X] Plan Too Tired to Think Of A Name, Just Finished Exam
Good by me. More masters means more stats means easier patrols

[x] Plan: Foreign Policy
- [x] Let's Just Be Friends (5/20 -> 13/20)
- [x] Holocron of Nomi Sunrider (1/3 -> 2/3)
- [x] Write in: His brother's master should be another Jedi because family do not always make the best teachers, but Kador will be allowed to supplement his brother's instruction and patrol schedules arranged so they can spend plenty of time together.

I'll hold off on the brother matter until I hear of the QM's decision on the write-in.

The argument for my plan is that I think we should define our status with the Republic sooner rather than later.

Answer is here:
You can try it.

But there is still a chance he will say no.

I choose to interpret this as 'you'll still roll but your odds of winning are better'. Hopefully it'll be fine as long as we don't critically flub it.

By the way, detachment only matters in the event that a war starts, the Republic asks us to join in, and we don't really want to join in. I'm not super worried about that exact sequence of events happening in the next year or two, whereas it seems fairly likely we'll have candidates to start promoting to master soon. I'm still in favor of getting the detachment bonus, but I think master's trials is the more urgent of the two.

[X] Plan No
-[X] Masters' Trial: +8 to 14/20.
-[X] Holocron of Nomi Sunrider (1/3)
-[X] No. It...it is too nepotistic for you to accept.

I okayed it.

Adding the write-in to my plan then.

I don't have a whole lot of energy to argue much so I'll just go with the simple fact that we don't actually know when the next crisis to erupt. So I think being ready to say no, even if we don't end up using it, is more important than formalising a title.

It's not about formalizing the title, it's about increasing the odds of promoting masters.

A promotion that is titular only. Jedi aren't going to hit an arbitrary ceiling of excellence because they don't have a specific title yet.
Pretty sure going from initiate to Padawan is a title that comes with excellence. Padawan to knight adds excellence. Different kinds of knights have different kinds of excellence.
Pretty sure the entire game system as it stands is on opposition to this one.

And from a narrative point, it's less about characters reaching excellence and more about recognizing it's already happened.

Ultimately I approach the game from a narrative or in-universe standpoint. And from that POV the best knights can wait a year or so for recognition, it won't kill them. Instilling our position wrt the Republic is a more pressing concern early on, especially since we've already gotten in bed with the Core a fair bit so far.
