Jedi Recruitment 3942 BBY
Recruits have poured in from throughout the galaxy.
(+25 Initiates)
And of the Initiates who have already joined you, plenty join you as Padawans, taking their first steps into a wider universe than they could ever have imagined.
(+42 Jedi Padawans, -42 Jedi Initiates)
And of those, a great number step into the life of a true Jedi Knight of the Republic.
Some step up as Guardians, protecting the innocent and bringing justice to the Galaxy... (+16 Jedi Guardians, -16 Jedi Padawans)
Others as Sentinels, lighting the way... (+13 Jedi Sentinels, -13 Jedi Padawans)
And some as Consulars, advising and sewing peace where they walk. (+7 Jedi Consulars, -7 Jedi Padawans)
But most of all, you can feel it. Breda, Kador, Zez...they are all nearly ready. But then.
One of them decides to prove it. To everyone.
--
All the scum of the galaxy, gathered in one place. The line starts at "slaver" and grows worse from there, ending at "glorified serial killer." Quite a collection they've found.
Kador puts his hand on his brother's shoulder. "Remember. We do this for justice. Not for vengeance."
Iolete nods. "I understand."
The two step out into the converted auditorium, both with their lightsabers: Iolete's shoto and main wrapped in his belt, simple if comfortable robes that have refilled to a harder edge. The lowlifes look at them both, questioning. "What, did your old man call us? Wait, ain't you supposed to be bumming around?"
"Bumming around? If that's what you want to call the worst six years of my life," Iolete says with a hard edge, eyes cold in their fury-- but calm. Calm, calm, calm, think about the Code. There is no Emotion...
"As you have taken all from us, so would we seek to take all from you."
"Two against two-hundred. Not good odds, Jedi."
"Two can fight two-hundred," Kador says simply as he raises a hand, followed by his brother, "if they can't move."
The questioning look grows more serious...and then freezes entirely as the Force reaches out and touches them. Everything stops...their eyes, their mouths, their limbs dangle, uselessly. It would be so easy, so very easy, to spread it to the heart. Certainly, most of them have earned it; and give it a year, and the rest will have too.
But, Iolete acknowledges as he lends his strength, whatever it is, to the stasis field that even now arrests the foe, that would be revenge. A certain satisfaction in beating a foe may not be a quick and easy path to the Dark Side; but slaughtering them when there are alternatives and it would only get him off, let him make them feel a little of what those six years were like, would be.
And then he would not be a Jedi.
Besides, the Security officers are on their way.
"As you damned him, damned me, to servitude for nothing: we damn you to prison. Enjoy yourselves."
--
Kador and Iolete Shirot have destroyed a massive segment of the Mid Rim Slaver's network, the very same which their father led and which, even more worryingly, sold Iolete all those years ago.
On the one hand, not a soul of that scum died. In an impressive display of connection to the Force, the two managed to keep an entire building in stasis, surrounded by incriminating evidence of the most unimpeachable kind. This is very impressive.
On the other hand, Kador has admitted both that he broke into the most classified portions of your archive to study at the feet of Kreia's holocron; and directly usurped Atris' authority in the matter of Iolete's education, something she is very unhappy about.
What do you do?
[] Praise him. Kador saved the innocent, and did not slay a single soul in the deed. Yes, there are matters to quibble about but you are not the Council of the Mandalorians Wars-- you will not die if your authority is questioned.
[] Chastise Kador, but still make him a Master. Though his deeds were meritorious and certainly not worth complaint, there are parts of his methodology you must question.
[] Chastise Kador, and do not make him a Master. Breaking into the Archives? Usurping authority? Seeking vengeance, even for the sake of another? A Jedi does not do these things.
Either way, in effect:
(-1 Jedi Sentinel, +1 Jedi Master Watchman)
