Care of Magical Creatures purely because we didn't go see Luna, at least not yet. I don't even know what use we'll get out of the Harry Potter, Runes, or Arithmancy books, but why not. Knowing the laws of a place we've never even heard of before sounds like a good idea to me.

I didn't take the Course books for the upper years since we should be able to order those if/when we complete what we're already picking up.
Costs 110 galleons and gets everything that isn't Lockheart.

The GM has confirmed that some books are skillbooks, but not all of them are. Things like the history books won't be, so we can save some money by not buying a complete second set. Making a wise decision to not buy a second set of books we don't need two of may also increase our WIS (wisdom) stat, as good planning is a way to grind that.

The law and culture books as well as Hogwarts, A History are confirmed to not be skillbooks. The Hogwarts library likely has similar books for the former, and Hermione has a copy of the latter that we could borrow. It would be best not to buy these so as to save money.


Also, just to point it out, the GM has confirmed that the Harry Potter books and Lockheart books are all skillbooks that we can learn unique magic from.

I don't see why we can't just go back to Gringotts and grab more gold. And while we're at it, we can get our key.

That probably depends to a large degree as to whether Harry is considered a 'public figure' or not and explicitly whether or not the 'Harry Potter' in the book series is specifically identified as the one who defeated Voldemort (Not 'He Who Must Not Be Named' or 'The Dark Lord').

That's not to say that you couldn't sue in civil court for use of your name. You can sue for damn near anything. But just because your name is 'Tom Swift' and you invented a better toaster that doesn't mean you're entitled to royalties on books sales written before you were ten.

My guess, it's probably not illegal, but Harry could probably get some money from it if the publishing firm didn't fight it too hard. Assuming his executor didn't sell them the right to use his name.

Why not buy or at least check out a Lockhart book to see if a skill can be gotten from it? I assume there would be some sort of charm or fame-based skill, if not a skill relevant to the particular Lockhart adventure.

That sounds fine at least. Honestly, not picking them up and getting everything else just seems out of character, since we don't know that he's a fraud yet.

I doubt we'll get anything from using observe on the skill/skillbook window, but maybe it'll tell us a bit more about the skills than their names? At least I assume it would if observe were higher level.
