The Power(Harry Potter/The Gamer)

Sure, I can add that.

Everyone else, it would be easiest if you would vote for my plan by name so I can make edits like this as they are suggested.
Sure, I can do that... Although I'd like to make sure we sent a letter to Moody or asked Amelia Bones to make sure Moody is there when they come to appropriate Peter also; he's the best resource we have for making sure this actually happens and doesn't get swept under the rug. After all he's a renowned dark wizard hunter with a strong sense of paranoia and justice going for him.

Hmmm... no, he's still alive. If he wasn't, I'd suggest sticking Mr. Pettigrew in our inventory just to be sure.

Probably isn't necessary, but I'll add it.

[X] You have Hedwig and Susan Bones! Send Hedwig off with a letter from you and Susan.
-[X] To Amelia Bones
-[X] Cast Petrifying Curse to Pettigrew in case he wakes up

-[X] Have someone go fetch a prefect and any adults with actual authority on the train, notifying them that an animagus Death Eater has been found and captured in Harry Potter's compartment.
Doesn't this make it more likely that someone nosy or in league with Death Eaters would insist on taking him away?

Just petrify him and hide him from the trolley lady since nobody else ever comes here.

Best chance of freeing Sirius from hell; Fudge won't be able to sweep it under the rug if there are lots of high ranking Aurors as well as lookie-loos around who are actually ADULTS.

Because he likes to be seen DOING something by the public even if it's the wrong thing; we can influence his political muscle much more easily if there are already tons of witnesses that it's Peter Pettigrew and he has a Dark Mark and was turned over to a retired master auror, Amelia Bones and whomever else. Also he'll get bonuses to his political stuff by being able to claim it was thanks to him Harry was trained by Moody and successfully caught a dark wizard at 11!

He'd lose face trying to cover it up at that point.

We have no guarantee Hedwig will reach Amelia Bones in time for her to get to Hogwarts when the train arrives - Post Owls can take longer than muggle mail to deliver something, sometimes. As such we need to involve other authorities now.

As far as being in league with Death Eaters, I included in the vote that we don't let the guy out of our site until a proper authority (checked to be non-evil with Detect Evil) has custody.

Okay. Now that the first post of that other quest is done, time to start reading through the pages here to see what all I missed.

... This could take a while.

That'd be in a case of extreme distance more than anything else; honestly Hedwig will outpace the train. This is a Steam Train with probably a speed of 65mph if that. It has to accelerate and decelerate based on land incline, worn track, etc etc.

Hedwig isn't a fast flyer as far as raptors go (neither are any other owls) but she can fly roughly 40mph. We aren't long into the ride so we're still much closer to London than Scotland.

Keep in mind for JKR owls moved at the speed of the plot or were intercepted or whatever at the needs of the plot. We have the smarts to look up better information.

EDIT: Its 443 miles by land transport from London to Edinburgh; its only 332 as the crow flies (owl flies in this case) and honestly it was dark when the gang arrived in canon so it was probably 8 pm (or thereabouts, being as it was end of August/early September) ... so the train took roughly 9 or 10 hours to get to the castle from London... It would take less time to drive a car to Inverness than to take that old steam train.

Which is fine. I'm hoping it will arrive with plenty of time. But we have no guarantees. If it does, then great! Amelia will be there before the train arrives at Hogwarts. If not, then we'll have to deal with an alternative method of getting him arrested and not having informed anyone on the train will look strange.

Getting further witnesses involved ensures that even if Peter manages to escape somehow, we need witnesses. I suppose I can add having it be a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff one as someone else suggested, to ensure a likely neutral party.

They're magical owls. I wouldn't be surprised if they can teleport.
...
Well, not that, probably, but their speed is likely higher than the ordinary variety.

Paladin 5: Be named a Champion or Protector(Can be named such by any source; Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Queen, etc.)
Do House Elves count?

There was one instance where a letter sent by owl arrived a day after the same letter being sent by muggle snail mail, with the snail mail letter being sent a day after the owl letter. This is why I'm being paranoid about this.

We're the Boy-Who-Lived. That totally counts as having protected them from the Bad Wizard, right? :p

Has to be a new title, I think.

In that case, we can tell Hermione about House-Elves early, watch the resulting fireworks, and step in to protect them from She-Who-Knits. Can't get more Championy than that.

That's JKR fuckassery. It's also utterly stupid. Snail mail has to go first to your local post office, then from there to a sorting facility, then from there to their post office then finally on to the recipient. Unless it's priority or the like there's an average of a week to two weeks turn around.

Direct owl flight at 40mph on average trumps snail mail any day of the week.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about Errol who was honestly nearly dead and should have been allowed to rest in honored retirement YEARS before Harry was born.

Any owl that loses consciousness when flying and divebombs into things or gets lost needs to not carry post anymore.

Like I said, it's a precaution. I'm hoping no nonsensical things will happen here and logic will prevail, but given we're in JKR's universe I can't guarantee it just because we've got a good GM. Even if we bring a prefect in, they aren't going to be able to take Mr. Pettigrew off the train.

EDIT - And hopefully it's likely the train will be stopped well before reaching Hogwarts if Amelia gets the letter quickly.
