and we should really do more than just petrifictions, cast every disabling charm, plus if weve got to drain mana use that, then transfigure some arms and leg cuffs with a chain linking them behind his back, dont forget to search him.
And contacting more people could only help even assuming someone tries to free hi either they attack a school train prompting investigation or they arrive after senior wizarss have arrived to take him into custody.

@Halpo133 How likely is it that the trolly lady or conductor might have a magic mirror or such to contact one of the adults in the castle? Honestly I doubt they'll be able to apparate to the train because a moving steam train is one of those things you don't try teleporting onto unless you want to get squished under the wheels but if they do it's a way to contact Dumbledore.

Not very, as the only references to communication mirrors like that comes from a set that the Marauders had. All the instances of it coming up in the books is a result of that set. She might have another way to contact the castle, however. She might not. Something to consider as you decide.

My problem with sending a letter to Moody first is that he might blow any letter we send up thinking it's a trap. Because he's paranoid as fuck. It's why I'm sending a letter to him last.
