The Power(Harry Potter/The Gamer)

I feel like this is very out of character for Hermione. As a bullied person, why would she default to making someone's name? ...Especially considering she's sharing a compartment with someone named Longbottom.
Maybe she assumed Draco saw the movie and was intentionally trying to be funny by acting the scene?

Current tally... did you jerks seriously have to make things harder to tally by having like half a dozen variants of D&D?

Draco is being a prat. And people are laughing at him. What do?

[x] So... Couple of things... First, you're introducing yourself first by your surname. Indicating that you believe your family to be of the utmost importance, even more than your own identity. Then you re-introduce yourself, using your first name and your last name. Do you have a middle name? And, is that your actual full name? (Harry is wondering if he can find out Draco's True Name, which, per most magical systems, gives you some power over others. He has previously determined he will not give his full name to anybody at school, just in case.

Alrighty then what do you think about this?

-[]You wouldn't mind speakin again another time to introduce each other properly when conditions are better set.

I added that second bit there because of what it says here in the wiki of Draco.

he offered his friendship to Harry as his father believed that Harry was a Dark wizard, and Draco wished to impress him and relay some interesting news home

http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Draco_Malfoy

He's trying to offer his friendship to Harry here. None of the response so far indicate Harry is going to accept, the write in is suppose to suggest that we wouldn't mind speaking to him another time and doesn't suggest we have anything against him or feels like we are insulting him, possibly opening the possibility of friendship and possibility to talk about not insulting our friends later on, or at least ignore them.

I'm trying to see if we can avoid canon conflicts here as much as possible with him, that's all.

She isn't making fun of his name, though? If he'd just introduced himself as Draco Malfoy she wouldn't be laughing. She's laughing at the unintentional James Bond reference.

I know people like to vote based on optimal scenarios they dream up in their head, but how the hell does anyone think inviting him in is going to end in anyway without enemies being made? Because even if we come out of this without people getting pissed at Harry directly, it will ensure that Draco ends up in enough of a feud with someone that we'll either have to pick sides or piss off multiple people by trying to stay out of it after having invited him in.

Or maybe people want to invite him in only to side against him so we can show stronger support for the people here? Or they want to side with Draco and don't think Sasha or Neville will think any less of us for siding against the people they've been getting along with and siding with the snob who started shit?

[x] Thank him for his time but explain that you already have friends capable of helping you figure these things out.

If we're going to play D&D then inviting him into the game is...impractical. We'll have already spent a while explaining the rules and getting stuff started with our friends, and then we'll have to do it all over again for Draco with no assurance that he'll actually stay for the whole ride. If you want to include Draco you need to vote to play something that can be picked up quickly and put down quickly if he loses interest or gets chased off after making a racial slur or something.

Hrm... should I heart, or smiley Halpo's post... can't decide... wait, we can do both? You lied... wait, who are you and how did you get in

Maybe we could diffuse the situation by letting him in on the joke?

[X] "Relax, Draco. They only laughed because the way you introduced yourself reminded us of a very famous movie. In fact, they would have cracked up just as much had I responded by saying, 'Potter. Harry Potter.' Your actual name had nothing to do with it. Now, you want to join us? I'm about to teach the others how D&D works, and the more the merrier!"

Get him in on the joke, do a bit of self deprecating humor (because seriously, they'll definitely giggle at us saying "Potter. Harry Potter."), makes it clear that it wasn't his name itself they found funny, and casually have him join in on the game.

Draco is a terrible person with no redeeming qualities.

D&D is a little too complicated for now, I think.

And 'redeeming' Draco.

Hell no.

[Q] Invite Greg and Vince in to play DnD with you, but inform Draco sadly that there isn't any more room in the compartment.

I don't know about the other people voting to let him in, but I'm doing it less for a redemption quest and more to simply not make an enemy out of him any earlier than we have to.

If something good comes of it because of the Gamer Mechanic where we can see exactly how much someone likes us and influence it, that's fine and dandy, but I'd just rather avoid the pointless School Rival plot... especially with how silly it would be for any one student to be The Gamer's rival.

Would we get an explosion resistance skill if we do this?

The other leading option also does that, without forcing everyone to interact with him further and risking making an enemy of him anyway if he says something rude.
