I think we should finally get started on anti-psyker training for our militia. It's so cheap it's practically free and we have a lot of big ticket items to spend on. Plus we'll likely need that bonus later. Probably another power armor action for the second slot.

Void is pretty obviously implementing gravity sensors and continuing shipyard expansion.

Administratum should be the Tarascon railroad and trying the education reform again. The ion projectors seem too expensive for a benefit of unknown value, particularly total. Even now half a billion AM is a crazy high cost. I don't think they're likely to be worth that much. Maybe the lesser version would be worthwhile, but I'm kind of dubious on it.

Hecatoncheir I think we should just go for the Eldar target and get out. Risking corruption of Vlad more than that is just too big a downside risk. I'm unclear on if Hecatoncheir consumes all our diplomacy actions or not. If it doesn't I'd like to talk to the Lizardmen again to see about revised pricing and new stuff.

Mechanicus those new Grand Cathedrals are quite impressive, in expense. As far as I can tell we have to go with the EM version, because the 32 RM upkeep on them will be too much for us to afford without the RM producing version. Overall not sure if we want to start that this turn. Otherwise I'd probably go with some Fundamentals.

Lin's paragon trait is nearly irrelevant since he's going to die in a few years anyways and there's no more peace treaties to be made in that time. We should probably try to fit in a few rounds of firming up the peace treaty though, at least get some use out of it. I'm not even sure what we could even do with Honourbound favors from Secundus considering we already traded for all the tech they had and they're too far away to provide us any military forces.

Telepathica we should probably be finishing as many resonance actions as we can. Probably have to start one of the housing expansions as well. I'd just go with expanding the psyker quarters in the hives. Expanding the Unseen University is really expensive in RM and we'd be running dangerously low if we tried to do that and the grand cathedral before it completes to rebuild our stocks.

@Durin can Lin transfer his sainthood , knowledge and as much of his power as possible to Guilliman at the expense of any chance of Lin surviving the healing ritual ?
Guilliman would be kind of be under powered compared to his brothers who had thousands of years to grow and develop the transfer would give him a better chance of staying alive and also let him continue Lins research too

sucks that lin's new paragon trait won't work for much....maybe he will help some folks hash out some minor stuff on his way to Guilliman
Well, the obvious target for peace deals would be the Tau, if Lin survives for that long.
could we maybe send him the anti-warp artifacts that Richards had? (I recall him having 2 anti-deamon/warp ones right?) and even if not that maybe we can request some.
Assuming the anti-warp effects can be disguised so as to not give Vlad away.

Do we know if "Chance of Success: Low" is calculated with or without assistance from Fred and Ridcully?

we* already know that high psykic resistence is because he is a khorne warlord.

*not us-us, I mean them them, the chaos are the us.......

wait that doenst make sence do u mean what I know?

gah! english!

I'd go for the Grand Cathedral of the Machine-God if only for the -1 Unrest, but the nids are coming pretty soon, and I'd really like a larger stockpile of vortex shells and torpedoes. It'll help compensate for our not researching Tyranid Frequencies.

So, it's apparently so big it takes a while to hammer out on it's own.
To bad it'll probably not see any play outside of securing the lizardman peace.
Both the Grand Cathedrals will lower unrest by one wether or not that only applies to one of them and not the other or if both reduce it only once we need to wait on Durin to answer.

Vortex weapons are not worth the cost for the new Nids. The main advantage of vortex is the ability to pen heavy armor. The New Nids don't have heavy armor and our regular weapons already have enough Pen to deal full damage.

Stirrings of Ash Pt.1
Stirrings of Ash Pt.1
Though the Imperium is long dead and its ashes scattered. There are a few from the Imperium left who remember what it was like. The most concentrated portion of such peoples is in the Imperial Trust. Though slowly these people are fading away, having built this nation do they go quietly to a rest well deserved? Having built something smaller but infinitely better then the imperium of old. Or maybe find that ash too can spark one last time, and leave one last mark?

The Governors Shadow
Odysseus was in a less than optimal situation, mending several cut tendons and expelling shrapnel from his wounds. Bleeding heavily and hiding in a ruined house, I considered where exactly it had all gone wrong.
- Could it be when I asked Jane Oak heart of all people on how to improve my skill?
- Maybe it was when I Ignored the tiny smile on her face afterwards??
- Or the fact they where going to have this "sparring" match in the ruined district from a beta attack?
- Or that the "Veteran" Psyker team he was meeting was way better armed then a veteran team should be??

Clearing the lactic acid from my body, I calmed down and accessed my attackers. Two were skilled swordsmen who while could press me, weren't enough to match a Lifeguard. The other two pestered me from range and generally tried to make his life annoying by setting explosives and other traps.

And the last one…..well he was just a cut above. In his movements and his blade work I saw a bare shadow of Jane Oakheart. The bastard was a dirty cheat to boot, darting in and out of the shadows. A grandmaster in the making, a hero really.

The bastard had hounded me across half the district haressing and tiring me out. A state of affairs that could not be continued.

Body healed; I accelerated my neurons, time almost seeming to slow down. Optimizing other body processes as I thought.

Why, why am I doing this. Why fight a battle I'm likely to lose, it's been weeks since I've last slept. And days since I've last ate, a test in control.

Or why I throw myself daily into harder and harder regimens, only letting myself recover enough to continue my duties. Freddie surely knows but says nothing for he pushes himself almost harder and he has no powers.

Ajax, a name even now hard to say. My brother who died protecting my other brother who we were both charged to protect. He died and the world keeps turning, I've experienced so much death for so long and yet why does this one haunt me?

I think because for all his skill Ajax could only push Freddie out of the way and die in his place.
He'll have no chapter dedicated to him in a history book, no song sung of his final battle. For all of his skill he was no paragon and, in this universe, its increasingly clear to make your mark you have to be.

Ajax didn't want that, he just wanted to stand next to Freddie and protect him. To surpass those things that faced us, and take them on head first.

He fell short of that goal, but that doesn't mean someone can't pick up that torch? Does it?

Footsteps all around barely heard with enhanced hearing, channeling strength into my legs I jump just as explosions rocked the room. Bouncing off the wall I slash four times in an instant cutting a hole in the wall crashing through it

Shots zip past me as I emerge, a few grazing and burning my skin. Rolling I start jumping from building to building making my way towards the shooter.

Scooping a piece of rubble up, I chuck it with speed at the sniper at a building a few blocks away with inhuman precision as it rocketed into his head with a resounding *clang*!
Pain, blade sticking through foot quickly withdrawn strength being sapped. As the other sniper starts firing while my foot has a hole in it, clever bastards.

I do the only reasonable thing and stomp with both feet hardening them and crash through the ceiling onto the poor schmuck crushing him. No time to laugh as two blades come at me from above I can barely parry them, tearing and reforming my muscles I push them off. And engage both in a melee that barely lasts 5 seconds, 94 strikes in those seconds are exchanged. Before I manage to disarm one, kicking him in the chest sending him flying into the wall.

The other tackles me forcing me back a few steps, fists raised I start to bring them down before an explosion rocks us both sending us flying forward. Shrapnel tearing into my already compromised armor and body, standing up the last bastard makes his appearance spinning under my slash and stabbing a dagger in under my ribs.

The airs leaves my body the dagger having punctured my lung. A wound that can't be healed easily at least in combat and leaves me at a serve disadvantage against my practically fresh opponent.

I should call the match now but I look at my opponent, his eyes barely visible through his visor.
I see much the same look Ajax had in his eyes when we fought "is that all you got??"

I remember not being able to cut through the daemons fast enough to reach them. My muscles tearing as I try to push my way through but being stymied every step of the way. And the look on his face as his body spun having been cut in half……...

And I take a step forward.

@Durin Got inspired to write this because one of our best biomancers has been stagnant for over a century and I think he has potential.

Absolutely. We have some absolutely crucial fundamentals to get started on as soon as possible, like Juvenat and anything to help our strategic naval speed.

[EDIT] No wait, I think I get it. But would Vlad's new subordinates really buy that a saurian-looking shield that actively resist chaos effects is in fact a proper chaos artifact, and not an anti-chaos artifact?

As for everyone who's absolutely against leaving Vlad in place to get promotions, I get that it's high-stakes, but the greatest threat is him becoming corrupted, which there may be artifacts for. If he's simply discovered, he can at worst still kill himself, if not escape entirely with HWWO's help.
And think of what we can potentially win. We were ready to attract terrible amounts of attention from Chaos to share technology with the major human polities. We can potentially manage something as large right with this. It's going to require a lot of support from Fred and Ridcully, and maybe a favor from the Eldar, but it's overall a small price for the good we can do the galaxy.

I agree that it would do a lot of good....on the other hand I'm not sure it would make THAT much difference on a galatic stage that its worth it....

unless we can get some anti-corruption artifacts to Vlad, I think eldar targeting is the one to pick for now.

We've done that already, we've also given him as heavily warded armour as we can done up as a collar of Khorne, which are the bonuses he's currently operating under.
did we really? I don't recall him getting Sariuan artifacts...just the stuff we personally could get him.

edit: if fact, I recall him leaving the turn before we started getting the sarian artifacts so I'm not sure it would have been possable to get them to him before he left.

We didn't we loaned him artifacts from other people.

This is the obvious one
Marshal Waters gains Artefact: Blade of Xe'achtor (+4C, pen 12, doubles kill limit)- This jagged blade was wielded by Xe'achtor the Slaughterer, who slew so many of the defenders of Itza that the plains were dyed red for decades to come.
Even sounds like a chaos name.

hm......it is painful that even with a paragon trait in piety, at least 1 anti chaos artifact and a full suit of anti chaosed up runic armor he STILL has a chance of getting corrupted.

dang it chaos!

do we know what the approx chances are?

why can't we send MORE artifacts? especally since 2 just got freed up? is there a limit to how many artfact-level equpiments he can have?

do we know what the approx chances are?
Operation Hecatoncheir: Long Game- The most risky option for Operation Hecatoncheir is for Vlad to attempt to keep his new position as long as possible, and maybe even rise up in the ranks. This would increase the risk of him being found out, and make his corruption an actual possibility, but could end up with him having control o a significantly more powerful forces, and giving you a high ranking agent in one of the most powerful hostile forces in the galaxy. This would be a high-stakes gamble.

Time: 2 years (to choose), unknown (to complete)
Chance of Success: Low
Chance of Corruption: Low
Cost: Regular actions for an extended period
Reward: Maintain high ranking agent in the Black Imperium, possibility of him becoming even more high ranking

Operation Hecatoncheir: Follow Orders- The most low key option for Operation Hecatoncheir is for Vlad to use his new position to carry out his current orders while making sure that the Imperial Trust is not noticed. This is likely to result in no one noticing that there is something wrong with him even in hindsight, but there is still a chance that one of the countless spies implanted within his task force would notice the Imperial Trust.

Time: 2 years (to choose), 10 years (to complete)
Chance of Success: High
Chance of Corruption: none
Cost: Regular actions for an decade
Reward: Wipe out Hive Fleet Grábakr, avoid notice from Black Imperium

Operation Hecatoncheir: Eldar Targeting- The safest option for Operation Hecatoncheir is for Vlad to use his new position to follow Eldar directions and lure a forming Orkish Conflagration into the Black Imperium. As well as getting you a major favour from the Empire of Ashes this would make the purpose of his infiltration clear, further obscuring the Imperial Trust.

Time: 2 years (to choose), 15 years (to complete)
Chance of Success: High
Chance of Corruption: none
Cost: Regular actions for 15 years
Reward: Major favour from the Empire of Ashes, war between Orkish Conflagration and Black Imperium, obscure motives.
The chance of corruption is only low if he stays for 20+ years or so.
