Operation Hecatoncheir: Eldar Targeting- The safest option for Operation Hecatoncheir is for Vlad to use his new position to follow Eldar directions and lure a forming Orkish Conflagration into the Black Imperium. As well as getting you a major favour from the Empire of Ashes this would make the purpose of his infiltration clear, further obscuring the Imperial Trust.

This is my preferred option for Operation Hecatoncheir, it keeps the task force away from us, gains us a major favor, paints the eldar as the handlers of the infiltration and could occupy 2 major galactic level threats to the sane for a considerable amount of time.

there is an option to have Vlad try and get promoted and THEN do what the eldar want. Which would take 30 years, have a mid chance of success (likely made better with help from ridcully/rotbart), and I can only imagine would be even more useful to the Eldar as he'd have an even stronger force behind him when he finally started screwing over the BI.

Damn it Richards. You will be missed.

@Durin There is no option to build Harvester tanks.

Gravatic sensors for sure. Also we still need that Gravitic Array program.

Railway! It is beautiful. Massive benefits all around.

Ion Projectors: Total seem like a very good idea to me, if we can afford it.

Oh my. So many great options for Hecatoncheir. Long term infiltration is tempting, but that chance of corruption (without additional efforts such as artifacts I presume)... Also, would cost us an Eldar major favor but far more importantly the opportunity to set a T4 Waaagh on the BI. Yeah, lets leave such infiltrations to others, not our speciality.

Huh, Jane taking a break from hunting Psykers? Interesting.

Behold the size of our industry! Omnissiah those Grand Cathedrals are expensive. AM or EM+RM? I am a fan of shoring up our foundations first before racing off after the shinies.

Paragon Diplo Lin! Yay! Damn shame that the trait is not ready yet.

I dearly hope that Lin survives. This galaxy really, really needs a peacemaker.

Only a decent chance of dying trying to heal Papa Smurf? Thought that it was death or transcendence. Multiple honorbounds... whoah.

We really should do Making it Stick a few times at least.

Lol that Tormod education trait :lol

Sigh. Which Marshall to choose? Khol looks pretty good, but not sure.

If you are tempted by the long term infiltratration, but are worried by the corruption chance, and not getting the favors from the Eldar, be aware we can instead do BOTH. Have Vlad go ahead and try and get promoted, and then after some time, work for the Eldar using a much bigger fleet. Its got mid chances of success (someone asked Durin on discord about it), and it'd almost certainly be better success chance with divination support from Ridcully and battle planning support from rotbart.

@Durin
1. Do Avernite Orks cultivate squiggs?
1.1. Do they have any breeds unique to Avernus?
1. yes
1.1. not that you have seen

actually the Eldar would not be the only possible candidates, there are quite a few people who might want a Waaagh to hit the Black Imperium, including some of it who want to get one up on their rivals who are in the line of fire

Redirect an ork waagh from the Blood Angels and take some pressure off? Then we can smash the fleet into the tier 4 waagh the Eldar want.

The last five years have been interesting with Vlad and He-Who-Walks-Obliquely managing to pull off the utterly crazy idea that is Operation Hecatoncheir. While you have heard of Chaos infiltration hijacking Imperial Fleets in the past, this may actually be the first time that the reverse has happened. Despite Vlad's success Hive Fleet Grábakr still remains a major threats, and the Imperial Trust Fleet is currently in the process of burning those worlds between it and the set of warring Orks that was until recently Ironbusta's Domain. As they are now the Orks will be able to put up little fight against Hive Fleet Grábakr, or your fleets, but as such will not be a source of a major amount of biomass. If united they would be able to hold off the Tyranids for a significantly longer time, and with help and luck may even be able to triumph, but will feed Hive Fleet Grábakr a far greater amount of biomass.
haha crazy bastards continue to amuse. For the nids, I would rather deny biomass than gain extra time.
General Richards has recently been slain by a rampaging Fire Dragon while inspecting the defences at Balatonix. This has delayed any new project proposals from being finalised until after the new General has settled in.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn it we have lost the teacher of heroes that was in the perfect place!

All the upgrades and artefacts were incredibly nice though I worry Robert will have trouble getting a pistol in his style if we find the black crystal one before he dies.

The best option for vlad and I do not care for the argument for long term infiltration we don't need it and I do not want to subject vlad to prolonged chaos expose just because we could.

The question was about him following orders to destroy Tyranids and then going for Eldar target. Not playing the long game and trying to get promoted.

Go along with what the Eldar want. Vlad being corrupted would be horrifying, Tzeentch might just get a new Changeling.

Strongly against Vlad sticking around. He might be discovered and killed. He might be corrupted, which is a DOOMED scenario for us as it means the Black Imperium knows everything about us. More than this however is the fact that Vlad would be unavailable for several decades even if everything goes perfectly.
No, best to just cash in for that Eldar favour and get out while the getting is good.

So. Last turn saint lin checklist.

1) are there any more worlds above minor corruption that we need to worry about?
2) does his last act take both actions?
3) if not, what should we do with the other action?

I'd go for the Grand Cathedral of the Machine-God if only for the -1 Unrest, but the nids are coming pretty soon, and I'd really like a larger stockpile of vortex shells and torpedoes. It'll help compensate for our not researching Tyranid Frequencies.
still working on it, should be up tomorrow
So, it's apparently so big it takes a while to hammer out on it's own.
To bad it'll probably not see any play outside of securing the lizardman peace.

sucks that lin's new paragon trait won't work for much....maybe he will help some folks hash out some minor stuff on his way to Guilliman

I wonder if Vlad has any artifacts?

could we maybe send him the anti-warp artifacts that Richards had? (I recall him having 2 anti-deamon/warp ones right?) and even if not that maybe we can request some.

that probably would negate most if not all the chance of failure for vlad getting corrupted in the long-haul attempt and CERTAINLY for the normal one. (some of the artifacts give +300, so 2 together would mean +600 (!!!) against warp effects ONTOP of his runic-armor.
