Right, lets ask Mibu for help. They'll probably provide something on the grounds of "If you guys go down we're utterly fucked." Only question is how much tech to bribe them with.

So as protoplan I was thinking of this:

1. Attack Ironbusta's domain to quickly stem the flow of Orks hitting Amir-Ka, maybe drop his Waagh level by 1 step.
2. Outright announce that there are Tyranids incoming about to hit Amir-Ka, maybe have the Eldar tell Amir-Ka instead of us?
3. We can preposition task forces in the worlds to be attacked by the Tyranids, IIRC we can put out about 12 fleets. The Eldar will use the webway so we can achieve utter supremacy in each battle. This will probably let us kill 20% of the first fleet I think, hopefuly Amir-Ka can kill more.

@Durin

1. Are the Eldar lending us use of the Webway for this crisis?
2. Is it alright for them to ferry Rotbart for each battle so we can always use his super Martial score?

@Durin
1. Are the Eldar better at piercing Tyranid stealth than us?
2. If so, how much so?

3. I don't suppose the Tyranids have a predicable staging area(s) many of them will gather in before attacking Amir Ka? So we could hide/transport via webway Exterminatus bombs on those planets in the hope of disrupting their efforts and causing some splash damage while they're stripping those worlds.

How advance are the Mibu? Because if they aren't we can bribe them with xenotech. Or if they are not too advance we may not want them since they be a hinder than help.

1 We need to warn ever xeno, human world in the way be prepared.
2 Ridicully can nudge chaos diviners into finding out we would like High council permission and Eldar assistance if possible.
3 The Nyne believe they can get sample of a Tryanid Norn queen they can develop a poison. We like permission from the HIgh Council to get HWWO ( Talking warp lion) to get samples. If he Fails we would like to ask Eldar to get samples. If the poison proves successful we like to mass produce as much as possible.
4. We need to get to the Human and Xeno worlds and put enough forces to drive them away, also See about using the human worlds for FOBs' to harass the tryanids.
5 ask the LEdar to Harrass tryanid forces.
pre plan looking for more suggestions

@Durin
1Can we ask the Eldar to assassinate Ironbusta next turn and will it cost a favor?
2 Can we get the eldar to assassinate BloodBusta while the chaso forces invade? Causing both to take damage and casing the ork forces in disarray.
1. Yes and yes
2. Yes and they have a good chance of failure

They are right beside bloodbusta

1. Yes
2. A bit but not a lot
3. They do not

We can probably also start invading the ork worlds most likely to be hit and then fry them to husks with orbital bombardment.

@Durin
1. How long would it take, after conquering an ork world, to just fry it and leave it lifeless? Without exterminatus. I'm thinking just hitting it with plasma and las until the world is mostly molten.
2. How long does a naval battle take on average?
3. How much more forces would we get with a Minor Favor?

hm....I'm guessing durin woulden't want us to have the eldar drop a few cyclonic torps of ours (or some other planet-cracking weapon) on any planets that the nid's actually take?

it would be way to easy if the eldar could just pop by and drop the bombs and disappear into the webway right?

I also note that it seems that most of their threat is their Battleships.

1400BB is more then everyone else combined by .....alot

maybe what we could try for now is:
(1): defending the human/non-chaos planets (no durr)
(2): harrassing the orks and maybe sniping their leaders if possable,
(3): send our fleet to take out the dreadnought, if we are lucky that will disrupt the entire rest of the fleet. ...we probably have over-wielming numbers on the fleet that is with the dreadnought right?

No let's wait till the Tryanids invade than exterminatous the world with the Tryanids on them. Sometime the Imperium has decent ideas.

1. A year
2. A month
3. Double

I'm pretty sure we have 22 at last count....

but we need more info then jsut that however.

how many torps does cracking a planet take?
if its just one then the 22 that we have is actually quite alot, enough to put a pretty decent hole in how much the nid's will get from amir

btw
if the worst comes to worst, we might need to have the entire trust (or as much room as would be possable) come to avernus.......(*jumps in a corner and hides*)

95+% losses to avernus is better then 100% to the nids afterall.

Actually, let's check on our stock. We've been making more. Delivery to the correct targets at the right time (ideally after the Nids have landed forces) could make a big difference.

@Durin - How many cyclonic torpedoes do we have in stock?
22 right now 23 when they show up

@Shard we have enough to take out half the ork domain or most of the Agri worlds in Amirka. Doing either would be a big help.

So, ideas for fighting the Nids

The Eldar have a huge strategic speed advantage over us. What we could do is time our attacks so that the Eldar can pop in, do crippling damage, and then move on to the next target to be attacked by the human fleets. That means that we won't need to send nearly as many of our dudes to each fight while still having a massive advantage in the fight and the Eldar can skip the time-consuming cleanup operation. The Eldar can leave early thanks to webway transit being unblocked.

We can use some of our Exterminatus munitions on any of the Chaos agri-worlds that look like they're likely to fall as well as potentially on the Ork worlds that are part of the current Waagh. Reduce biomass available and screw things up for both the Orks and Chaos. The webway gates might allow us to do so at least somewhat reactively due to granting us an ability to sneak out even if the Nids are in system, but there will still probably be trouble deploying them if the void is contested.

We need to know if the Nids are capable of easily recreating their whole order of battle of if taking out, say, their single Dreadnought will prevent them from being able to construct another (or if it would take a seriously disproportionate amount of biomass to construct one). If not, we can do some massive damage by stacking our own fleets even more to take out the ones they have with the heavy assets. If so, ignoring the fleets they have with the heaviest assets and focusing on the fleets with comparatively easy to destroy ships is preferable.

Setting up a forward operating base in the area targeted by the first wave seems like a very good idea. If targeting the Dreadnought is a reasonable strategic move, maybe take up Muspelheim's city conversion idea and move it into place ahead of the Nid wave so that it could double as a useful defensive position on top of a logistics/repair hub. That would require it to be over a world that isn't evil/stupid, of course.

While we need half our fleet at home, we should see if we need to have it be half of each type or if it's just half of the total strength. For example, Dreadnaughts and Command Battleships are generally far more useful in pitched battles (like we're going in to) than cruisers (which would be useful in raid defense at home).

If we're going to use another Eldar favor, I'd support using it on another warfleet rather than an assassination or picking up Nid samples. A single warfleet is an amazing combat force with excellent strategic mobility and would allow us to wipe out far more of the Nid fleets in each wave. Plus, Chaos fighting the Orks should weaken the local Chaos powers enough that they won't be able to effectively take advantage of our attention being focused on the Nids. Sure, them focusing on the Nids as well would be good, but counting on Chaos to not come down with a sudden attack of the stupid and backstab us is a poor survival strategy. If they don't manage to finish off the Orks, it should still be a minor favor to assassinate the warboss.

@Durin 1 is the Nyne Tryanid poison something that can be mass produce.
2 could it be made into a gas
3 if we can not mass produce can the Nyne?
4 what would the Nyne want for doing it?

Depending on how the self-replicating poison works, getting it delivered onto the Dreadnought and the Command Battleships could be a big boon. Taking out the biggest synapse ships would likely delay the Hive Fleet significantly.

An idea I have is using Rid's to prevent Bloodbusta from uniting the Ork domains just lont enough until the Nids get here and with, minimal, coordination with chaos hit their least defended worlds while they are busy fighting the Nids which would not only stop the Nids from getting much more biomass but also severely weaken the Orks while preventing Amrika from losing too many forces to the Orks.

This is still good for us since Amrika would not only be able to put up more of a fight but they would still get eaten by the Nids anyway while buying us more time hopefully.

Wow, that Eldar contribution is wonderful.

Nice to know they are taking this seriously.

Since the average Eldar ship is several times more effective than our own, they have quite a bit of concentrated firepower to wipe out splinter fleets.

Here is the splinter fleet size again for reference:

28 Hiveships, 300 Cruiser weights (50 cruiser Squadrons), 3,000 escorts (~58 flotillas)

The biggest hassle with these Splinter Fleets are how many Battleships they have on hand.

Due to that, I don't see much recourse other than to keep our expeditionary forces in very concentrated groups and strike with overwhelming force.

That means we can only be killing 3, perhaps 4 Splinter fleets at any given time without risking non-negligible losses and damage to the Expeditionary forces.

As such, we need all the time we can get in killing those fleets early, before they can snowball.

Some suggestions:

1) Burning those Agri worlds in their path while focusing on killing off the Splinter fleets not heading thru those worlds would be one of my first suggestions.

2) Another is to alert the local Necrons and hope they have the forces on hand to pop a splinter fleet every year or two.

3) Kill off planets and splinter fleets in an effort to shape the advance of the Swarm as a whole (example, wear down the flanks and encourage splinter fleets to bunch up if possible thus reducing their world consumption rate, burn certain worlds to make fleets alter their paths, etc)

How exactly is the poison supposed to work? I recall it's supposed to be self-replicating, so is it meant to be used on a large bioform like the Dreadnought or the Command Battleships and kill those big ones with the small dose we're able to make?
basically, it is a powerful weapon not a I win button
If I ever give you an I win button I advise you to look very closely for the costs

@Enjou
the poison could also just be a flat bonus for ground troops or something.

like "poisoned gas, half again-damage to nid's caught in the gas" or something.

Ok, mini-exterminatus meant to be used on the big targets. Still very useful. If we can get enough to take out even a few of the main ships, that will have large impact.

It can't be mass manufactured, so it can't be a flat bonus.
