I wonder if Tranth is in line for some sort of archetype. Considering that he has restored more dark age tech than anyone else that we know of, I feel as though he is a good contender for something.

It might not necessarily be ground shaking, but I don't see many who are able to compete with him on the restoration front.

Perhaps an archetype of the Restorer or the Scientist is possible.

Also, considering that he was given a title that is basically the equivalent of Living Saint by Scott, perhaps the shared belief of the Trust's Mechanicus will be enough to grease the gears towards an archetype.

We got the malus because of us feeding cultists to Sirens, not for bombarding our cities due to chaos corruption.
It was also decided that the Imperial Trust would start using Exterminatus weaponry and start trading the souls of Avernite cultist to the Sirens for knowledge. While you were the one to suggest this action and to convince the High Council to allow it the concept still rankles and seems morally dubious. It has also combined with several of your previous actions to give you a reputation for ruthlessness and the willingness to do anything to win, a reputation that is not entirely accurate but one that will be hard to shake.
Just quoting Durin for some minor clarification.

How come Turok didn't manage to see Areatha coming and the Eldar assistance? He can see through deceptions and has precognition.

Was Turok sane enough to beg for his life against Areatha?

If there are any chaos infected xenos and humans with their humanity and will intact like Turok, How does the Trust and the other sane factions justify genocide, no matter how you look at it. Its insane to do it on a galactic scale and makes the good guys look just as bad as the orks and daemons. Chaos wants to assimilate people while we want them all to die.

Fundementally Chaos is compelled by its nature to spread itself among the uncorrupted. Either by preferably turning them or destroying them.

Peace is impossible because Chaos cannot resist its imperative to try and further spread itself. Chaos's very nature is fluid, and the word of any Chaos God is untrustworthy so any agreement made with them should be taken to be broken the moment it is convenient for them to do so.

Only against mutually destructive foes, like perhaps the Orcs, would I even trust a ceasefire with Chaos, even then I wouldn't trust to have their ships fight alongside mine.

Chaos contaminated humans are irrevocably bent towards the whims of their patron god and cannot be saved or redeemed. Especially in the cases of the Abomination they behave less like sapients and more like machines working within narrow constraints.

Simply put, any regime which wants to continue surviving has no choice but to treat chaos as hostile. And the more they constrain themselves, when their foes will not, the greater the chance they will fall.

Personally I would go so far that the elimination of every chaos infested person in the galaxy would be a net good. Ending someone'

The Ruthless trait bugs me.

Don't cultist souls end up as playthings of their "Gods"?

Destroying them is a mercy compared to that.

So selling them to the Sirens is a triple win. A mercy for the cultists, weakening the Four by denying them souls, and gaining psytech that is extremely valuable to our survival, and the safety of our souls.

What's so horrible about that?

As for bombing our cities, it would be sheer insanity not to. I would like THEM to withstand our wildlife (such as the berserker fungus), rampaging Alphas, and multiple daemonic incursions without resorting to such.

And for these acts we get called ruthless and willing to do anything for victory?!

We did those for survival.

Fuck those judgemental asses.

Hypocrisy is sadly endemic to the human condition. The 'right thing' to do would have obviously been to freeze like a deer in the headlights like Lyn and refuse to render moral judgment.:V

Again I propose that not everyone knows that including Avernites who are at best suspicious of psykers. I've asked this before and the response was "our education system is so good that information like that is public knowledge".

Which I just dont buy because only psykers could really know certaiknthings like that and maybe Lin or Ridculy. And even if they certify that something like that is true then it just comes to show you that fear is a powerful thing in and of itself.

It's also got major associations with the Dark Eldar....

Probably the most fucked up non chaos faction in setting which is saying a lot.

This is cultists not psykers. The logic for cultist's being ruthless is the DE associations and because it is likely that even though their souls are damned to eternal torment they may be saved by emps when he returns so true deathing them isn't a mercy.

Probably not and Lin knows that, but its either that or admit that everything is ****ed post mortem.

So your saying that the average avernite knows that

1. Cultists souls are sent to the warp and feeding them to Sirens will permanently destroy there souls and not allow the Emperor to reclaim them.

2. That those who give birth to psykers are normal and not neccessary under the seay of the warp.

I hope durin weighs in on this soon, it doesnt seem like this conversation is going anywhere productive....

my opinon tho is that rotbart should stay back...the malus is huge and can take decades and a lot of work to repair the damage that could happen. we can send someone in our stead anyway.

once the trust has been introduced we can send rotbart another time.

If one's morality functions by association rather than reason that's a serious failing.

It's analogous to saying Hitler liked dogs therefore dogs are evil.
Maybe, but when the only associations for soul trade and soul eating are chaos and DE there aren't many positive alternatives to turn to.

Only maybe emps depending on how the GT is presented, but even then that was to the Emperor not to Aliens. Emps is able to get away with a lot of shit no one else can because he's emps.

Yes.

1. Given that it was so controversial we'd likely have explained it to our people.
2. I can't do the math, but if there is a single person on Avernus who does not know someone who is related to a psyker, or isn't themselves, never mind someone who birthed one them-self I'll eat my hat.

So in order faulty logic and hypocrisy, that's what I said to begin with.I never claimed either of those things were unreasonable IC.

Dogs are evil, though. Nothing that friendly is natural, they must have something to hide when they're bouncing around declaring eternal love over a biscuit.
You're simultaneously correct and incorrect. They are indeed evil, but their friendliness is entirely natural. It may seem contradictory, until you realise who it is they're friendly to: Man, the most evil, destructive species in all of history.

Yeah andres is right dogs have learn to latch on to a bigger meaner worse predator human beings. Dogs would be no where as they are if not for humans population wise.

Well the population figures are outdated and psyker numbers only track living ones but… At a guess psykers make up about 0.036% of our population. Or three and a half in every ten thousand. Might not seem much but Avernites have big families and live close. They check up on their neighbours and get to know their community. Each psyker will have known hundreds of people personally and several thousand at once removed before theie powers manifested.

Never mind the potentially vast numbers of unconscious psykers.

What if the emperor could purify and reclaim chaos infected souls from the chaos gods, if he could then won't it be better to let chaos have temporary custody of the souls until they are defeated then to feed them to sirens without the emperor having a chance to reclaim them?

Not really.

Every single soul is a battery for Chaos, every single soul strengthens them.

In addition even if he can save the ones forcibly turned, he can't save those that fell willingly even if they were tricked into it. And even then most of them will be insane dead long before he gets there.

Then unless he gains enough power to directly confront one of them he's never going to be in a position to save them.

And of course are you really OK condemning them to eternal torture for anywhere between 4000-14000 years?

Give them peace.

Its better than most people can hope for given that the majority of humanity just goes insane then gets insta nommed by random daemons.
