Spending 6 years on the Dragonfruit, for example, would be a waste if it turns out we can't weaponise it. Same with the other stuff.
I'm not saying we do that. I'm saying get a bunch of creatures we want to study, do Prelims on them, and then Complete Examination the ones that we can weaponise, starting with what the Prelims say would be most useful.

Let's use dragons as an example. If we have 6 types of dragons and can only tame 3 of them, we'll be wasting 18 years if we do Complete Examinations on all of them. If we do Prelims then Completes, we only "waste" 6 years.

There are some exceptions, of course. Some species are very obviously something we'll want to Complete Examination so Prelim can be skipped. Blink spiders are an example.
Shouldn't we have to do a Complete Examination for our Biologis to be absolutely sure we can't weaponize/tame it, though?

Sorry it took me to reply. I was actually busy with work for once.

Hmm that changes things. Of course if it costs political will we may not want to do it. Because of the upcoming conference and of course for other "stuff" we want to do.

I propose a compromise of bringing Syr back to Avernus and getting her married with some kids.
Since she now has the fleet master trait her military score is not hinder from either leading the army or navy. But on Avernus we can keep her challenged enough. Leading the Hellguard would be the best for growth but also the more dangerous job. We will need someone to take Sarnow place and it would be good for Syr to be in charge of a large fleet.

I am only concerned with ensuring the Line of Rotbart continues, TBH. We could have Syr's Grandchildren be raised as her successor if she got married and had children.

The thing is no one has written any omakes to make a character for Syr to marry. At least not one that I can remember seeing. I do remember some ideas being thrown around but never saw them go to far. Those are the best way to get more grandkids.

Doesn't matter at all to me, tbh.

We have a solid chain of succession. Syr will, if she becomes governor, have one too.
We have a good system and ensuring the continuation of the bloodline is an outdated concept we have absolutly no reason to keep up.
Just go for the best successor.

It's not even that useful for CKII-eugenic reasons. We have a lot of people with very good stats in our higher ranks, Syr's kid wouldn't have any inherent stat-advantage over them.

I like the narrative of the Line of Rotbart being generals okay. >.<

It's just particularly cool to me, which is why I want that trait surviving.

That is my main concern as well. Well, that and making sure we get a decent beard to stroke when pondering wise words to say to our grandchildren. :V

I'd like a personal action next turn to find a suitable suitor for Syr.

Surely she must have people she'd like to marry and is asking Rotbart about it by now! I'd go with whoever Syr prefers, but if she has no preferance I think Asgard Noble (Ask Sigurd to intro Syr to one), then Muspelheimer (ask Surt) or just Sound Out (Syr's Marriage Prospects).

Model Defenders
These Cities were exemplars in their defense, and a model for all the others to emulate:
Cassarondo
Belagost
Roke Island
Yphax
Alexandria
Waset
The Fens

As a notable Mention, I am nominating Gormec for Medallions of Courage. They were incredibly far north and never rolled above 63. You just know that it was some brutal fighting there.

Now for our Heroes!
Jacob just had a straight up +94 bonus, as compared to Jane's +74 bonus.
Mashal Khol rolled a Nat 100 and defeated a Bloodthirster in a duel.
Mineyev is still Unwillingly Immortal, despite some Khornate Daemons trying to help him out with that.
Xavier got a Nat 100 on the last turn. LET SLIP THE TIGERS OF WAR!
Areatha was the expected level of bullshit.
Richards did surprisingly well.
Cheshire must have been a never ending murderblender of "WHERE THE FUCK DID THIS ASSHOLE STORE THE LAST 30 WEAPONS SHE WAS USING!?!? JUST RUN OUT OF AMMO ALREADY, ASSHOLE!", "Okay." "OW, I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU JUST RAN ME OVER! I AM GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR COMMANDING OFFIC-" SPLAT
Saint Lin had a +150 bonus.
Grandmaster Aria had +134 bonus, what the hell
Companions of Varen rolled a Nat 100 against an Honored Bloodthirster that we couldn't kill.
Rotbart did poorly in this Incursion. Ajax had to sacrifice himself to save us. o7

Zhuzrhan Rageblaze was just bullshit. a -50 malus for survival.

@Durin you forgot about Aridia in the last update.

1. What about the other Marshals?
a. Paolo Donovan (Azure Islands)
b. Taneka Stumpf (Everglades)
c. Dieter Bruhn (Elysium)

2. What exactly are Heroics?

How about you guys literally not harass Durin about Syr and Marriage. As it says in the fucking FAQ,

Q: When can she get married?
A: When their is a politically viable match
We will have the option once Durin says so. Constantly bringing it up and whining about it will just result in Durin adding the Grey Knights clause her FAQ entry

3. you will be able to start working on the grey Knights Genseed when I tell you you can, and not before. asking does not speed this up and may slow it down
So please actually talk about something constructive. I don't know, maybe find out what our Titans were doing, or what the hell "Let Slip the tigers of War" means...

PS: Yes, I would like her to get married and have heirs, but I am not going to bother with it until it becomes relevant (either Fred or Syr dies, Syr randomly gets pregnant, Fred Randomly gets Pregnant, or we receive options concerning Fred or Syr getting marriage proposals or somesuch).

Shouldn't we have to do a Complete Examination for our Biologis to be absolutely sure we can't weaponize/tame it, though?
No. The idea is unsupported by the action descriptions. Furthermore, given that testing viability takes only a fraction of the time compared to implementation and CE includes implementation, it's reasonable to be assured that Prelims will do their stated job every time. (On the flip-side, it's unreasonable to assume that the Prelims will fail to do what the description says it'll do, at least in most circumstances.)

If, hypothetically, there were situations where a CE is needed to ascertain viability, it'd be because viability was very difficult. If that's very difficult, you can expect actual implementation to be impossible or at the least very difficult. All in all it means we would've been better off moving on to the next subject with a Prelims instead of unwisely going all in on something that really wasn't worth the investment compared to other things.

I thought Syr could only get potential marriage candidates through Omakes, due to almost no one wanting to live on Avernus.

The Second Daemonic Incursion Part Five: Aftermath
The Second Daemonic Incursion Part Five: Aftermath
T=21:00:00

For the last three weeks the daemons of the Blood God have been pushing against the walls of your cities, and in a few cases beyond that. While casualties have been far lower then they were in the last incursion you still lost over a billion men, including several mighty heroes, and tens of thousands of psykers. Your air forces in particular suffered extremely heavy losses, due to the fact that they were operating outside of your cities and in rather dangerous skies. While you lost a large portion of your Battle Psykers enough psykers earned their promotions that you suffered only a minor reduction in psyker combat strength.

This experience has tested those of your soldiers and heroes that survived, pushing their skills to a new level. In particular Lieutenant-General Mineyev and Mittens have reached a whole new level of deadliness, though in the case of Lieutenant-General Mineyev it came at the cost of surviving when the majority of the Black Irons didn't.

Al heroes bar Governor Rotbart, Syr, Admiral Sarnow, Marshal Cheshire, Jacob Oakheart, Saint Lin, Inquisitor Klovis-Ultan, Fabricator-General Scott, Archmagos Tranth, High Grandmaster Ridcully, Grandmaster Xavier and Priamris Ophelia gain trait Survivor of the Crimson Skies (+1P, +2C, +5 to all rolls against daemons)- Having proved him/herself against the most dangerous foes in the galaxy during the Second Daemonic Incursion … has had his/her faith and combat skills tested.

Governor Rotbart upgrades trait Master of the Blade (+2M, +1D, +5C, +50 to melee combat rolls) into Grandmaster Swordsman (+3M, +2D, +1P, +8C, +80 to melee combat rolls)- Between your traiing by Jane and your experience fighting against some of the most deadly foes that the galaxy can throw against you have have developed your skills with a blade beyond mere mastery.

Marshal Khol upgrades trait Master of the Blade (+2M, +1D, +5C, +50 to melee combat rolls) into Grandmaster of the Blade(+3M, +1I, +2D, +8C, +80 to melee combat rolls)- In her duel with the Bloodthirster Hellmourn Fate-Stealer Marshal Khol pushed her skills with the blade to the level of a grandmsater in order to triumph.
Marshal Cheshire gains trait Hero of the Crimson Skies (+1M, +2P, +3C, +5 to all rolls against daemons)- Marshal Cheshire led some of the most successful battles in the Second Daemonic Incursion, slaying countless daemons and overseeing one of the most critical battles in the war.

Lieutenant-General Mineyev gains Paragon Combat Trait: Always the Last Man Standing(bonus depending on danger level +50 to roll if no threat, +100/25% damage reduction if low threat, +150/50% damage reduction if medium threat, +200/75% damage reduction if high threat, +300/90% damage reduction for extreme threat) - Lieutenant-General Mineyev seems to thrive as the battle gets more dangerous, a trait which has allowed him to be the last man standing in countless battles both small and large, much to his displeasure.

Jacob Oakheart upgrades trait Angyl Slayer (+1P, +25 to rolls against Angyls, cause terror in Angyls) to Deamon Slayer (+1C, +1P, 25 to rolls against Daemons, cause terror in Daemons)- Jacob has slain or banished powerful Greater Deamons of several Gods, feats that have earned him the terror of the deamons he encounters.

Saint Lin combines traits Survivor of the Pink Skies (+1P, +1C, +5 to all rolls against daemons) and Champion of the Emperor (+8M, +1I, +2A, +2L, +1D, +7C, +5 to rolls of troops under his personal command, +15 to friendly morale, -15 heretic morale and daemon stability when fighting against his personal command) into trait Saint of Battle (+9M, +1I, +2A, +2L, +2P, +1D, +9C, +10 to all rolls against daemons +5 to rolls of troops under his command, +25 to friendly morale, -25 heretic morale and daemon stability when fighting against his command)- Saint Lin embodies the valor of the Emperor as much as the wisdom, and has a mastery of all levels of battle that few can match. When this is combined with the shining beacon that is is presence when roused for war no there are no better foes for the forces of chaos.

High Grandmaster Ridcully gains Battle-Forged ( +3C, less likely to die) - In the Second Daemonic Incursion High Grandmaster Ridcully found himself as the prey of the Honored Bloodthirster Kurrun Ashstriker, who was immune to almost all of his powers. This forced Ridcully to push his combat skills to a new level in order to survive, if only just .

Grandmaster Xavier gains trait Wraithwalker (+3I, +2P, +1C, +25 to all stealth rolls vs psykers or deamons) - In the Second Demonic Incursion Grandmaster Xavier, Mittens and the Phase-Tigers killed countless daemons via stealth, learning how to hide even from the Warp touched eyes of daemons and earning the title of the Wraithwalkers.

In the right terrain you would not be surprised if he could sneak up on an alert Honored Greater Daemon, and possible kill it with an ambush.

Companion of Varen gain Paragon Combat Trait: The Bigger They Are... (+50 to rolls/20% dodge chance vs large, +100 to rolls/35% dodge chance vs huge, +150 to rolls/50% dodge chance vs gargantuan, +200 to rolls/65% dodge chance vs colossal, no negative size penalties)- The Companions of Varen have fought countless large foes, ranging from Gnaw Worms all the way to Cavern Dragons and the Honored Bloodthirster Zhuzhran Rageblaze. I cannot like the traits enough. Mittens' paragon trait made be laugh aloud. Rotbart is also just shy of a combat paragon. It seems he had to go plus ultra just to survive as long as he did against the khornate general.
