It kinda sucks to see how fast the crusade overran our static defences. We should invest in some Ramilies once we get the time.

we made a conscious decision not to go all in on static defenses over avernus since we couldn't afford that and a fleet. We consider the enamy being able to land troops on avernus acceptable because holy shit is trying to wage a land war on avernus a terrible idea.

durin, another two questions.

1. how is our fleet on strike craft.
2. could we replenish our stores of strike craft by transferring the ones in the defense stations around Deiphobe to our fleet?
1. you have more strike craft then launch bays
2. not needed
@Durin

1.How did the attack on leadership elements go ? Did we get anyone important ?
2. Does the Abomination fleet and army get any maluses due to it ?
1. not really
2.yes but only for the battle
random question, does anyone know how many orbital platforms Deiphobe actually has? the info sheet says at turn 83 it had 15, I know we went on a bit of a spree at some point and I don't know the exact number
4,500 Weapons Platforms, 830 Heavy Weapons Platforms, 99 Defence Stations, 1 Ramilies Starfort
there is no way the Abomination Fleet would stand a chance against the defences as it is

Jesus, I knew Deiphobe was unassailable, but I didn't realize how unassailable. I don't think they would even survive the approach.

*grumble grumble bullshit rolls not in our favor grumble grumble*

Eh, nevertheless I'd say we're around where we want to be strategically. Sure, I'd have loved to do more to bloody their nose here, but we still have a fleet, and their fleet is still badly limping. The deciding battles were always going to be on the ground, and so long as they don't have uncontested naval supremacy over both the Avernus orbitals AND going into/out of the system our general plan can continue without needing to worry about what their navy can get up to totally unopposed.
what was the rationale for not doing that again?
Desperation moves are scary, and we don't want them to either have just fucked off and raided the rest of the Trust or started trying to pull those with their full strength behind them.

Ouch, we still got a lot of our heavy intact but our light ships have been wrecked, trying to harass the rest of the waves is going to be damn hard if we try, maybe we can get lucky and bring part of their transport escort fleet into a pitched battle. Really wish we saved the plans. Ah well.

durin, if we called for the reserve forces the day the transport fleet left would our reinforcements arrive before or after the next wave of abomination transports?

It's Not Failure
It's Not Failure

#1

"The-Your plan is working perfectly, sir. Only two transports lost so far. They can't get past our screening elements."

"Of course it is. The fools can't see that the transports hold our armies."

#2

"Only a single transport lost, sir, and we've claimed a Battlecruiser in return."

Just a smile this time, lording over the space.

#3

"S-still as planned. The vast majority of our transports go untouched."

A slight frown, but one quickly replace by magnaminous approval.

#4

"They haven't been targeting the Transports, they've been going for the light craft!"

"Well? Remind me what our Admiral's doing?"

#5

"T-the Admiral desires approval for his plan. He- he says our Transports are too-well guarded for us to strike them, so-"

"Granted."

#6

"It-it- we've lost all our attack craft. A Grand Cruiser, dozens of.."

"Well, they've succeeded in finding the ambushes, haven't they?"

#7

"Could their Diviner have gotten the plan? They've done too well.."

"Mere luck given by their so-called 'Saint'. Proceed with the plan."

"Sir-"

A gunshot, and a body crumpling to the ground.

"Proceed with the plan."

@Durin why do we have no Martial bonus?
I think its the skill bonus, but we're using Sarnow's ATM.

@Durin
1. Something I will note in the update is the ground support seemed a lot less powerful than it was last time? Against Garkill they got their own rolls to take down ships and provided +25 to the fleet and you said earlier that the bonus would be higher because we're a level stronger than we were against Garkill, but here it only provided a +10. I can imagine why this might be the case, but it still rankles.
2. I take it the Lamenter's didn't make it?
3. Can neo astropath messages be intercepted?

3. Can neo astropath messages be intercepted?
IIRC the answer is yes for this and also Astropaths (And Astropaths/Neo-Astropaths can do it also, plus daemons, warp entities, etc), and is much more likely with broadcast messages - which is why they do encryption on the messages to make sure only the recipient can decipher the message, and also do directed message sending (which is also easier and more efficient). Occasionally even the Astropath sending the message doesn't know the meaning of the message, but that's not considered a reliable defense, since psychic echoes and whatnot can garner meaning.

Just checking but it wouldn't be viable to teleport Lin to Diepheobe and have them slaughter themselves against the defences there would it.

I figure jumping through the warp with chaos after you would be dodgy, but am not certain we couldn't pull it off.

If that's the case, maybe we can use our Neo-Astropaths to aid us in the battle? We can have them jam any psychic communication the enemy uses. Maybe we can even jam the coordination boosts available to Abomination forces.
I don't think they'd use astropaths for inter ship communications...

Radios should still work if nothing else.
