Well, that's possible.

@Durin, do we need to specify what exactly kind of sword we order?
you do not, I will consider any write ins but it is Jacob that gets the final choice
@Durin
1.Would this work with the powers that make up Neo-Astrotelepathy?
2.If so would it have separate effects for projectors and receivers or one total effect?
3.Is this action a general study thing or a power-by-power thing? because it sounds like it should be a general study thing, but the phrasing almost sounds power by power.

4. What do current Admech tech preservation protocols look like? We're a small polity and losing stuff in a Trust-wide invasion or civil war is a serious risk.
What I'm hoping for is a vault in every fortified position in the Trust with significant Admech presence, and some fortified areas without that, but with a couple of Admech guards specifically to keep the vault safe(and destroy their contents if breached), each containing a copy of our useful technical knowledge, some vaults on stealth ships in the deep void, and maybe a couple of time capsule vaults they paid to setup in the nearly impossible to scry, incredibly challenging to travel through, sections of Avernus(Under Dis? Underwater near the coast?).
5. If tech preservation protocols don't look like the above, or better, how can we fix that? write an Omake?

6. I had an idea I want to ask about:
Can we use the heads up displays or the indirect perception of the vehicular sealed video cockpits to break up or block out (visual or auditory)perception of memetic hazards, then highlight their position well enough to attack them unimpaired, as a means of reducing the mental load involved in resisting Chaos corruption while fighting Chaos?
I think this might be worthwhile because it's the memory of a chaos rune or daemon existing in their mind that makes people especially vulnerable to corruption a long time after their exposure, even if they never went anywhere near them or were subject to any specific attempt to corrupt them, so not only might it help with the aftermath, but it might reduce what has to be resisted to active telepathic and soul altering attempts.

7. What does Saint Lin think of including some training against harmless illusions and mental intrusion as a side goal of religious proceedings(possibly across the Trust), to get some kind of bonus against Psykers and Chaos?(after meditating on divinity)
8. Would we need to study more animals with potentially harmless illusions to do that?
1. unknown, probebly
2. unknown
3. it is a general study that allows power by power actions
4. a mix of that combined with tech being divided into levels of value and use and only being kept in places it is needed and vaults, there being several dozen vaults in the core worlds and none outside of them, also none on stealth ships or hidden as the chance of them being found is to high. the Mechanicus relies more on keeping dozens of copies in fortified locations rather then security though obscurity, which has issues against good enough divining which is hard to counter
6. you could try, would have issues with the programming aspects however
7. he thinks that the idea as a whole is not a bad one but that it should not be made part of religion, he is uncomfortable linking religion and illusion
8. no
@Durin, I have some questions:
1) I think that electric on vanilla power sword will work for Jacob better than fire sword, since it may be too flashy for stealthy fighter like him. Is it valid assumption?
2) IIRC, shape and size aren't much important, so he can adapt to it with ease?
3) How good would such a variant work?
"A power sword with straight medium sized blade and handle that can be used with one or two hands. Electric effect is invisible and almost inaudible until connects to the target, and can be turned off for situations where it's undesired. Blade is made of opaque Angelsteel. Rune of banishment provides a boon against psykers and daemons."
4) What about this?
"A power sword with straight medium sized blade and handle that can be used with one or two hands. Power Field generator of the highest quality allows incredible efficiency, greatly increasing both armor penetration and damage, as power field of such strength damages material of the target in some radius from the cut itself. It has several regimes, some with lesser power in case that it's normal settings would be excessive, and possibility of temporary bursts of even higher power, after which cooling down at lower setting will be necessary. Blade is made of opaque Angelsteel. Rune of banishment provides a boon against psykers and daemons."
5) Can we specify the sword to be made by Granalf personally?
6) If so, how much will it increase quality and cost?
7) How much time would it's making take?
1. probebly
2. yes
3-4 not bad
5. yes
6. 10* cost, increased quality
7. years, how many is unknown

Wait until I stT up a primarch or Phoenix Lord before saying that
@Durin
1. This might seem a little weird, but would it be fair to say that the Primarchs now are stronger than their 30K incarnations assuming they were healed to full strength? They are after all significantly older (age=well not power, but you get the idea) and are significantly more experienced than they were what with being 15+ years.

As for the phoenix lords... I guessing that between their innate skill the tens of thousands of aspect warriors that make up their beings now, their age and their empowerment by Ynnead they're easily some of the strongest beings in setting...

yes
and the phoenix lords are not so much as empowered by Ynnead as able to use their power to their full potential now that the tie to the Dark Prince no longer exists,

1. Still could a character like Jian Zar pull of feats like we see in Age of Dusk...I think I remember her taking on a planet solo.
2. A possible submission for sword assuming certain things "Unlike normal power weapons the blade does not glow, it's angel steel blade coursing with runes of banishment. But still there is a sense of hidden danger to the blade. He remembers when he activated the shear of the weapon obliterated anything that it came into contact with the only indication it was active being a slight distortion around the blade and small blue circuits lighting up along it's length. It was a dangerous blade, remarkably subtle. New and Old at the same time. Excellent." Basically a Grav Shear blade which I kinda invisioned as being the next level up in human weapons (so above Plasma and grav ect.), though obviously this assumes we got the STC for it and not some examples we have to reverse engineer or schematics we have to repair.
3. How would Leman Russ now (assuming he was healed/fed) compare to the Leman Russ of the Burning of Prospero?
4. When Ridcully saw the Aspect shrines were the Incubus there or were they still with the DE enclaves?

Damn I genuinely thought that our military would be able to, like 3v1 or 5v1 your standard 30k legionaire and our heroes like for example Jane would be able to rip a part veteran terminators and even fight primarchs for a while.

Now my head fanfic of the great crusade running into avernus has taken a beating.

According to @Durin the Varangian Guard at full numbers would be able to take a legion at around 40-60K members (so during the middle of the crusade as they were almost all over 100,000 by the end by which I mean the drop site massacer)

However add in the Primarch and it's a stomp, I don't know if they naturally all have base 50 in all stats (excluding power save in Magnus's case, diplo in a couple of others i.e. Perterabo and the Lion) and a base sixty in their main stat (combat Angron/Leman Martial Lion and Horus), but they'd beat us...

Against a normal human force I think we'd do a bit better until they focus more and more stuff on us.

Sorry but I parsed your post as "Give the Imperial Trust 300 to 500 mote years and we will stomp them so hard their test tubes back on luna will feel it and crack".

Would you say I read you correctly?

1. yes
2. yes
3. badly due to being out of practice, once he has a few years of practice he would stomp his past self due to a combination of even more raw power, massive experience and being more willing to use psychic powers
4. both

While we are on the subject...

@Enjou @DeusFerreus I didn't get an answer about why we aren't buying relic equipment for First Councillor Aryz of the Quartok. The last turn result states that the AdMech will allow it. We don't have an option to make him relics ourselves so the trade is the logical action for it.

James Thorne
James Thorne

James Thorne knew he was going to fail. 25 years of age and a month to go before his trials, he was.. weak. Merely containing his powers was a trial for him, and using them was fraught with danger. The only psychic discipline he could manage with any proficiency at all was Telepathy. The others he foundered in. Going to the trials, he was going to die.

It wasn't supposed to be like this.

Found, aged 7, in the districts of Dis by a Witch-Finder and taken from his family, whose faces and names he couldn't bring to mind. Finding a new home in the Telepathica. Meeting his new family, a teacher who was so much more like an adoptive father. That one day when everything turned green.. He'd learned so much, so much, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough..

There was a knock on the door.

The door would probably be in pieces now if he'd tried to open it with his mind, anyway. At best. This power of his was just an endless well of frustration. Yeah, one of the strongest psykers in the Telepathica. Can't actually use it for anything. Useless.

"Are you coming out?

James opened the door, using his shaky hands. Was that her?

"Emmy?"

She always managed to brighten his day up.

"You can't keep wallowing in your pit of eternal despair, James. Lin's coming here again. You're seeing him."

She tugged his hand.

"Come on."

He followed.

"You've got to have something you want, don't you? You're look like you're a condemned prisoner!"

Always so cheerful..

"The trials, Emmy. You passed yours last year, didn't you?"

"Of course I did, dummy, otherwise I wouldn't be here! Unless you're saying you're hallucinating, I guess, but then everyone would notice, y'know? I mean, you're not even trying to hide all that bleakness that's all around you. You actually look like a condemned prisoner."

"That.."

"Tell you the truth, it was mostly Lin who got me through it all. I mean, I had a despairing boyfriend, panicky moods, and all that. Miracle I got through, really."

"Really?"

"Really."

/

"Be true to yourself. The greatest lies are those repeated to yourself." The Saint advised.

Thorne found himself unable to reply, unable to even form words to deny the words. It was.. true.

"Fears do not last long when confronted. Don't ignore your doubts. Look into them. There is no need to stay in the shadows."

He was so earnest. And..

"I-.."

The other word, 'will', that half of the sentence, 'I will.', refused to be spoken aloud.

"I'm sorry. I-"

'Can't' also refused to be spoken.

"You can."

It was certain, and Thorne nodded, unable to deny it. It was true.

/

Hop.

Run.

Left.

Forward.

Right.

Eat
-

Arrrghhhhhh.

"You're focusing too hard." Xavier noted.

His lesson with the legendary Ash Hound had numerous fatalities already; Three unfortunate rats to various brain injuries. One from an excess of power applied for the simple Dominate power, another having had it's brains melt on of it's ear, and the last was desperately trying to eat itself up (and also everything else).

"It's easier to imagine what you want of it, than each individual instruction. Relax. Just nudge it." The Primaris said, encouragingly.

Once more.

Clear mind. No thoughts.

/

Rat No.4, as she was called by the two Beta psykers observing her, desperately wanted, no, needed a bite of bread. She knew what they were like - Soft, white, fluffy- absolutely delicious. And she knew where to get her bite. She ran through the maze as though possessed (which, granted, she was).

Nevermind that she never had any bread in her life!

For in less than a half-minute arrived at the promised land, where a wondrous chunk of it was waiting for her.

She bit-

/

"Somehow, I think she was disappointed by her meal. But it was all well, I've to say."

Waiting outside the Sanction Hall, James managed a smile, less than an hour to go until his execution. There was quite a number of others here as well, to take their inevitable trials. And Emmy, to see him off. Dressed in bright colors, so much unlike today.

"You're not missing them, are you, James?"

"The celebrations? Doesn't he wait for the results, first?"

"He sets them up for everyone. Long before we ever make a step inside."

She shook her head.

"So don't miss them."

He nodded.

/

What actually transpires beneath the roof of the Sanction Hall?

Decent people shouldn't think too much about that.

/

"You made it."

Thorne, lying on the bed, was distinctively aware that he was alive.

"I made it."

A/N: James Thorne, the Telepath Sanctionite who literally passed with a margin of success of nil.

The AdMech might be fine with it, but would Svartalfheim's artisans want to make relics for a xeno?

We should ask and find out.
Conveniently we already have an action in the plan to ask them about making stuff.

It should be noted that Svartalfheim is generally less conservative than the AdMech. If Scott's mod isn't going to kick up a fuss I doubt the Artisans will.

It should be remembered though that Svart is still in the conservative camp without a doubt.

They're in it mostly because they're afraid of tech getting into the hands of Xenos (and possibly tradition?) though they don't have the ideological problems the admech does.

So it's a maybe maybe not kinda thing.

Stiil with any luck the current divination will clue us into the Khan and Vulkan being around :)

Updated plan to have Jacob's blade made by Granalf (and be Grav-Shear if possible, since Granalf's paragon trait means superior technology gives even better bonus when made by him).
