Call them Hrafnar. Ravens! Odin was associated strongly with them, after all, what with Huginn and Muninn.

Or maybe Morrígna, after the plural form of the Morrigan of Celtic mythology. Gudemain is a word for Phantom as well.

Or we could just call them Helghasts, Helgeists or Helghosts, if we want to be boring about it.

Or... Beowulves, maybe?

Question: What's the difference between Helguard and HelTrooper? They both seem like power armored infantry.
Helguard are Grenadier elites who receive far more intensive training. Their gear is also more advanced with individual soldiers using Neutron Laser, Plasma, and Gravitic weapons.

Helltroopers are Guardsmen that are a tier below the Helguard. Their advanced equipment are relatively sparse, being limited to heavy weapons and assigned on a squad basis rather than individual like in the Helguard.

I was looking in there but which tab? ALso got it so Helltroopers are 1 per guardsmen squad?

Honestly, the more I think about it, Choosers of the Slain really fits for them.

They're the best of the best snipers, who hunt down and kill the finest of the foe.

They bring death to the strongest.

They choose who is slain.

One shot. One kill.

And there is no Valhalla.

Maybe we can have some fun with silly acronyms?

B.A.D.A.S.S.

Brutal Assassination Department of Avernus Special Service?

I'd suggest Choosers of the Slain, but that seems a bit off.

Too long, IMHO.

Ulfhednar are also called 'wolf-coats' also I think. An the originals are berserkers. An the Ulfhenar are basically berserker vikings with extra skill that work for Odin.

I already suggested that, but people think that they are too similar to berserks and berserks are tied to Khorne... I think that they're overthinking it.

The Elite Operative Order should be given a totally bureaucratic name befitting Avernus' strong Administratum culture. Since it could do with an air of ominosity let's use Doublethink and go with something like the "Ministry of Peace", with the Elite Operatives being referred to as "Brothers" or "Sisters".

Close, but not quite on the nose. "Ministry of Mercy".
Or "Social Welfare Agency" if you want to be a little less obvious.

About names for the SEOs: I think we should stay with the naming sheme that lead to Hellguard and Helltrooper. Hellshadow? Hellkeeper? Hells Raven?

@Durin

1. What's the typical power increase for a chaos psyker? Just curious.
1. no such thing as typical, but it ranges from +3 power to gaining entire categories
that and Chaos has access to sorcery which is far more powerful then psychic powers, though at a price

While I won't go so far as to say that this is the worst trade deal ever, China Siren Queen is ripping us off in trade. :p

We are the sole suppliers of the "delicacies" while this runic knowledge can't be exclusive to this particular faction of Sirens. Maybe if we manage to contact other Siren factions we might be able to get a better deal from them. We might even be able to renegotiate our current contract with these Sirens because then we will have a bigger market for our "delicacies".
you are also trying to buy military tech with small amounts of tasty food, there is no way in which you have the advantage
1.@Durin, how was Ophelia's performance in combat after Xavier was wounded? Was there any notable differences?

2.@Durin, is Jacob home-schooled or does he attend a school?
1. no
2. he attends a school, though he also has private tutors
@Durin

1. What do the sirens think of us trading psychically active wildlife materials for runes?
they are not interested saying that can get anything they need
@Durin, I have some questions:
1) How bad will conservatives react if we start to give Sirens Chaos aliens?
2) Non-chaos aliens?
3) Can we get action to contact the other Sirens?
4) Did IT scouts found any alien civilizations, even minor?
5) Any rumors of non-chaos space marines other than ours and Dragons?
6) Do we know anything interesting that Trolls can offer us? Things and knowledge from caverns?
7) They're known to use our looted/stolen/found weapons. Do they also use ork weaponry?
8) What's their tech level? Can they make metal items?
9) Are they still hunter-gatherers or do they have agriculture and animal husbandry?
10) Did they already invented writing?
11) What psykery other than their innate powers do they have?
12) How Sir Pellinore describes Questling Beast? Sorry again if it was asked too.
1. not at all, trapsorting them on the other hand is not so easy
2. not at all, Saint Lin and the Progressives on the other hand...
3. you can try, making contact with a group that mostly spends it time deep is not easy though
4. a few minor ones
5. there are rumors of Lamenters in a range of places, though given how scatter and legendary that chapter has become there are always rumors
6. not really
7. no
8. yes they can but they prefer crafting out of stone and have troubles taking material with them
9. they have agriculture and animal husbandry. though given hat this is Avernus that involves inventing defensive siege warfare
10. yes, very basic though
11. geomancy
12. you can't remember his description, no one can

As amusing as that might be I fear that is not the case.

Astartes are always relevant due to training, biology and being the best of the best.

Our guys are even better than that as they too have our kit, many of them are Avernite and they are being trained by the 15 ancient guard members.

@Durin
1. Was the Super elite who sniped the Overlord one that was recuited by the Inquisition or one of ours
2. The Vangrian guard are participating in this campaign?
3. Is Azshara willing to say what is scary about the deep ocean sirens?
4. Have the Sailors encountered any of them?
5. Can we hire people like Pellinore to reduce the time it takes to explore a new region?
6. Have the BD released a list of things they're willing to trade?
7. Can we... for lack of a better term, store up credit with the Sirens? I don't think keeping Cultists around is a good idea so can we just hand them over every turn and later we can spend the "credit" we earn through this on runes rather than just buying one and then sending them over and getting it eventually?
8. Just checking this, did you miss a bonus for this action

I could be missing it, but there's no cheating bonus

Unless you just added it directly to 9% chance of success?
9. Probably redundant, but I feel it should be asked, can we use cheating on Sanctus Forum, due to its age and being in the presence of the emperor ect. it should be enough for Ridcully too see.
10. Can he use cheating to help with the upgrade (like by how he helped Tranth by showing him notes from himself from the future)
11. Can the Siren's speak Gothic? There was some uncertainty about the exact meaning of the Sirens when they talked about the banishment rune because of the dialect of Eldar they spoke (and ya know eldar) so are they capable of learning it?
1. one of yours
2. of course
3. their attitude skills and weapons. also they are crazy, you would have to be to live down there
4. seen a few from the distance, they were Rune Armour and have a mix of melee weapons
5. they are already involved
6. see next update (which will be a few days due to work)
7. yes that is what I assume is happening
8. effected base success chance
9. you can
10. no
11. yes they can but have trouble with describing more technical aspects of the Warp with it, they say that there are not the right words in Gothic

I have a few questions @Durin

1. IIRC we have taken Heavy rearm for both Helguard and Helltroopers, but we the only rearm option we had for the PDF was "light", how long until we got the other two PDF rearm?
2 Capturing and moving the Chaotic Psykers to the sirens is very difficult, but are they sure to move if they are in a stasis field/chamber?
2.1 If chaotic psykers can be safely moved during stasis, can we equip the psyker and/or witcher hunters with stasis grenades and stasis chambers to capture the psykers feasible?
3 How much "regular souls" is worth the souls of the different categories of psykers for the sirens?
1. will offer it soon
2. it is impossible to move something in a stasis field and getting a psyker into a chamber would not be easy, that and they are expensive (and I mean EM and a tiny bit of RM expensive)
2i. see above
3. several, less then ten though

5. there are rumors of Lamenters in a range of places, though given how scatter and legendary that chapter has become there are always rumors
1. The Lamenters are legends? What for? Besides being the lamenters of course.

2. I take it all offers to buy this have been met with a piss off?

1. not at all, trapsorting them on the other hand is not so easy
2. not at all, Saint Lin and the Progressives on the other hand...
So damned if we try either way.

Yeah the Lamenters are out and doing things! It also appears that they are finally getting the recognition they deserve now that no one cares that they were part of the cursed founding. Can you tell us some of the rumors about them Durin?

Not really. Sacrificing Chaos-tainted/aligned souls of anything to the Sirens is okay, the big problem is getting them to Avernus. We essentially have to either be content with the supply of home-grown cultists, or wait for an invasion.
That's why its damed either way either we risk transporting desperate chaos cultist through the warp or piss off Lin.

Neither of these are good so lets forget it.

Don't get your hopes up.

They might have gone completely batty.

Or become an entire chapter of mephestions/lemartes.

I think we can use Ridcully to bait Valinor into a raid or minor invasion, but that's, you know, pushing it. Let's hold to the spirit of our pitch to the Trust and not play with Chaos. It's a slippery slope.
Lets not, that sounds silly in the extreme.

If they attack on their own heads be it.

Given Lin lives here its only a matter of time.
