?? There was one left that sent the Orks into Beast?
Yeah his name was Qah and he was a radical (in Red Flag's quest). He was the last and was working on the Beast so he could visit vengeance on the galaxy that wronged his race. He wanted to watch it burn, all of it and everything in it.

He could not control the monster, he was weaker than the monster. So he died as the strong took from the weak because it could.

That reminds me, didn't we have that omake a while ago that Durin said would reduce the penalty for diplomacy with Necrons the next time it occured?

Just a bit of food for thought - we already do sacrifice the souls of people for power. Innocent people, even, and not just cultists, but you're just not thinking about it. You see, we live on Avernus willingly. It's entirely within our power to construct new cities in space or on the moons, and move our population to those places. Instead we keep our population on Avernus so they can train to be badass deathworlders who can be trained into the deadliest pure human soldiers in the galaxy. But the thing about willingly living on Avernus and inhabiting certain areas of it is that you know that by doing so you're consigning people to having their souls devoured.

Living in Azure Bay? Well, even if you've managed peace with the Sirens there's still the soul devouring Deep Ones who will eat your people by the tens of millions when they wake up from their sleep. Living in Avernus's Spine? Well, Magma Worms will sometimes attack your cities to devour millions of tasty soul treats. Oh, you want to live by the delta and the lakes in Duat? Be ready to consign a number of your citizens to having their souls eaten by Amut Crocodiles. And there's certainly more soul devouring xeno monsters out there in the regions we haven't yet explored and colonized, but we will of course colonize those places because we need to increase our Deathworlder bonus and make the Helltroopers that much more deadly.

Oh, sure, you're not exactly just handing those souls over to the xenos, but as the head of the government you've made the willing choice to continue living on a would where there are xenos who will devour the souls of your citizens and where it's practically a coin toss to determine if a baby will survive to the age that it can crawl away from the Blink Spiders, but hey, at least you can sleep soundly knowing your armies can kick the shit out of almost any foe, am I right?

But surely handing over a few cultists to the Sirens so you can ensure more of your people survive and don't get devoured by daemons is monstrous, right?

For us its fine, but they don't live there... oh and you must remember another thing.

The old saying is 1 man's murder is a tradgedy, 1 million is a statistic.

Well I fear that holds true here as well, we lost about 60 million first time a Deep One surfaced, but that's not as vivid as 200 Cultists.

We could also use that as an argument, but I doubt it'd hold much weight with the other governors save maybe Alfric.

And depending on the mechanism by which they animate corpses Anubis jackles as well.

I suppose it is all relative in the end, but yes I have to agree with this. Is it truly more monstrous to sacrifice the souls of people that already for fitted said souls to the Gods in hopes of gaining access to wards that could save the lives of what, hundreds of thousands, millions, billions of lives in the grand scheme of things?

It is fucked up, but it is not that fucked up by 40k standards or even our own worlds standards.

Yeah, you would not be wrong at all. Perhaps a minor would have some apprehension, but the real radicals would be saying this is a pretty sweet deal for the wards the Sirens are offering.
*Flash back to Ultan mentioning that the Inquisition would have used and burned entire worlds to get a set of books on chaos hunting as good as Jane's.*

They'd probably throw a segmentum wide party for such a good deal

Just because we are a Warm And Fluffy petty Imperium, doesn't mean we aren't still descended from the Imperium. Human lives are an abundant, self replenishing resource to be expended as the situation requires.

Right I'm done justifying this for now, I'm going to think about something else...

Like wondering about Angelsteel.

Chaos.

Should be is no sure bet.

Be interesting if it can make armor, though. Investing in a set of even better PA for Rotbart'd be nice.
More seriously though it should have resonance with Sanguinius (who's a pretty powerful presence) and thus hopefully not the abomination.

And yeah it would be interesting.

I mean its probably really hard to make, but we've got DAoT tech so who knows.

Worst case scenario its another relic material that we can use to make super weapons.

Angelsteel barrel for our grenade launcher sounds nice. Or just upgrade it with the stuff.

Don't expect it to be easy to make, though. Dead hard, likely.

Ya, but the BA were able to keep making enough for weapons sized for astartes in the Imperium, so we might be able to make it in larger quantities.

On the other hand it could have some kind of barrier, like only make able if you have the BA psycic signature, though I hope not.

This is of course entirely presuming that the Blood Dragons would be willing to give up the secrets of Angelsteel, or that's it's even something we can reproduce. They may not be willing to give it up, or it may be impossible for anyone other than a Blood Angels descended Chapter to make it.

Yeah.

From @Durin mentioning they have it I'd surmise we can get our paws on it, but who knows.

Still we survive and they don't we will probably get it via refugees or salvage.

Still preferable that we both survive.
