Actually its Primary defences (Outer and Inner Walls), Secondary Defences (Walls around each district (around 15km2), Tertiary Defences (fortifications on each building)
They shoot at the districts 3-15.

1. How many districts are in the outer part of the city?
2. How many districts are in the inner part of the city?
3. How many districts deep are they arranged?

All the ideas I have is trying to get rid of as many weird boys as possible. How doable that is is questionable...

this is for Salem
1. 45
2. 5
3. four deep, 3-15 means it is on the fourth (outer) layer and is the fifteenth on that layer, the center of the city is district 0-0

Avernites are Scary, I wouldn't be surprised if we could take on an entire old Imperium sector with just our planet....
Well maybe not.
IIRC Avernus could outmatch an old Imperium crusade fleet quite some time ago.

Without Defense Bonuses.

(Although as I understand it the Imperium Crusade would just Exterminatus us.)
/
So obviously our main concern at this point is Salem.

@Durin

1. 1 Ork Warband = How Many Orks?
2. Do the (incomplete) Psyker Quarters: All in Salem provide any bonuses of any sort to our psykers and our defence rolls against Weirdboyz?

1. an average of 10,000
2. no

Durin once posted that General Schwarz is sure he could beat/archive parrity with the ground elements of an old Imperium Crusade only with the troops native on Avernus. He included the militia in that so it is not as crazy as it sounds.

So the orks are assaulting and bombarding a single of 45 outer districts with not much to show for it? *trollface*
And after breaking its walls they have to fight in depth through the buildings (geanted. That is what orks love) and through two more mini forts befor reaching the inner wall?

@Durin I have to ask: Do the orks have fun still? Or is at least Garkill starting to get angry/frustrated?

Good thing for us that the orbiting fleet hasn't joined in the artillery duels at all. Still, with the Salem Macrocannon all gone he can drop another hundred Roks on the city. Or one of the Hulks.

Attrition favours him, stalemate favours us. Call it a draw.

If the orks are any indication apparently not.
the Orks are using their numbers pretty poorly, if they could concentrate their artillery properly they would have breached your walls at several locations and the initial assaults were futile
an Imperial force would instead of trying to press the attack so fast have concentrate on building a fortification far enough away from a city for your Basilisks to be out of range and filled it with siege artillery and then pounded the city for a while while slowly creeping siege trenches and fortifications closer to the city
it would take a lot longer but not result in the massive casualties that garkill has suffered, they would have also only landed an army in one location and would have deployed enough scouts to locate the tunnels so that other forces could be landed to destroy them
in other words while Garkill is a military genius by Ork standards he is still an Ork and has Ork troops, a professional human general would be far better at assaulting Avernus then he is

the Orks are having some fun in most places

1. How many days out are our reinforcements?
2. What kind of numbers does Garkill have left in terms of ships?
3. What kind of numbers do our reinforcements have?

around 22 billion have been deployed and you estimate that 5 billion were killed in space
that leaves at most 3 billion Ork in reserve
…I feel we somewhat overestimated how dangerous the Orks were. At this point the only dangers are weird boy shenanigans or running out of ammo.

We can beat a typical sub-sector no problem, but for an entire sector would probably have sufficient numbers to drown us in their blood.
Just imagine how un-conquerable we will be when we actually finish colonising the starting continent.

If we ever settle the entire planet I expect it to take the sum total of the old Imperium's armies to break us.

Lets not get cocky, we haven't beaten them yet and for all we know Garkill still has a trump card, and even if we if the situation is as good as it looks, (and only on Avernus would several billion orcs trying to kill you ever seem like a good situation) we could still take significant damage to valuable infrastructure.

Indeed, the multiple instances of "unless something major happens" are triggering all sorts of alarms here.

Also, do we have more Deathstrikes? If we take out all or most of the Roks around Salem, we could go for another voley.

We should build like, five hundred thousand deathstrikes after this is over.

Pretty sure the cities have a ton of Lances, don't they?

they do and the Orbital Defence Lasers are currently intact
