I don't like how our vast shipyards are basically sitting empty while Vanahiem has decades upon decades of backlog, but there isn't an option for that. If we could use a sound out to ask about taking some of the load, that might be sensible.
They're not sitting empty. Some of them are working on System Defence Cruisers and Monitors, while the others are being integrated/upgraded into larger shipyards.

I'm pretty sure everyone's voted...

Do we have any plan for if Garkill is coming for us beyond shoot at him?

Do we have any plans for capturing his hulks, cause I want any shines on em.

We've passed that point a long time ago. He's really encouraged to fight us.
I know... I really don't want to turn him into our version of Ghazkul and unfortunately Avernus being an Old One world might turn into Armageddon 2.0.

It wouldn't be the first time something big in ork history has come back to them as a "valhalla". Remember Ullanor Between the wildlife and us "Dead 'ard hummies" we're a very nice for orks.

Challenge him to come down from his hulk and fight us in single combat, man to ork.
…then when he turns up we shoot him. Preferably with a Titan or pyromancy-choir, although the massed might of the Governor's Own should suffice to soften him up.

I don't think he's that dumb.

Hell most orks are not that dumb.

To capture hulks, send in the Marines/Fire Giants/Jotun/Hellguard and expect heavy losses.
Even that propably wont work. There are literally billions of Orks on a big Hulk.
Those groups could push through to kill the leader or break the generator, but actually cleaing it from Orks would propably take years of campaigning.

Its been done before, its how they took the Small hulk over Aflehiem, Fire Giant strike force, with Xavir and Phase tigers with Helltrooper back up.

Took the whole thing with comparatively low casualties.

I think we're at the point where our troop's lives are worth more than the 'loot' from an average space hulk. Our general technology is at a very high level after all, and our troops are very highly trained.

Now, if disabling the hulk is inexpensive from a military standpoint I'd be down with exploring it, but I don't think we should risk reducing our effective defenses for potential shinies.

Let's make a few special space hulk clearing teams grenadiers and use them to spearhead countless Midgard troops.

Just blow up the hulks and loot the remnants?

Like, what's the deal with space hulks?

Space hulks sometimes have archeotech hidden away in them since some of the wrecked ships that compose their structures can be really old. Or sometimes xenotech, since the ships can be of xeno origin as well. The chances of finding something are good enough that it is worthwhile are high enough that the Imperium would send in boarding teams to clear them out when they could, but the chances are still fairly low overall for any individual hulk.

They can have a second Well of Urd built in, for instance.

Exceedingly unlikely, given the Well of Urd was probably unique. Plus the fact that if there was one it would be extremely wrecked.
