So, thoughts on the turn.
Five years until we're out of the storm is big news. Fortunately, we've known this was coming for quite a while, and we're reasonably prepared.
1. For Munitorum, I would like to use a PA to do some readiness training. Once we're out of the storm Ridcully is probably capable of giving us some real notice about incoming invasions, but I'd like to avoid getting caught with our pants down when that drops. I do want to rearm our Helltroopers at least, but right now I feel like we're too action-poor and that getting Admin running smoothly and Void into shape are larger concerns.
2. For Void, readiness training seems to be the name of the game. I'd like to prioritize fleet readiness over defenses, but we should do at least some of both—and maybe also double down on the readiness here in years where we don't have anything that really demands DD.
3. Admin. Well, shit time to lose an action here. When we're deciding on who to use as the replacement, we do need to remember that if we assign Thaddeus, we lose the Thaddeus expertise letting us do some extra admin options at a higher cost. We also need to expand our mines ASAP—we're slightly in the red on metal already, and having a surplus will allow us to accelerate the expansion of the admech as well as start to close our massive trade deficit.
4. Yes please on the Knights for diplomacy. Also, I hadn't even considered that looking into ways to cure the curse would be a sensitive subject. Whoops, at least Klovis caught that. The Grey Knight disappearing is worrying, and certainly worth a year of Ridcully's time to investigate, but I think any panic is premature. Otherwise, I think we might want to focus on improving relations with Vanaheim now that that's possible.
5. Super-elite operatives are going to be a hell of a thing, and should keep Oakheart busy for a while. Given the duration, as well as the number of favors we owe from putting the program together, we probably want to start it up ASAP.
6. Space Marines will be very, very scary in some Tranth-designed armor. I also think it's well worth throwing a DD on it too—both to prevent it from the small chance of failing and also for the possibility of a crit.
7. For Biologis, I'd really like to get started on examining the Sun Beetles. Right now they're both a real threat to our cities and a potential avenue of advancement for our pyromancers, which make up a large portion of our combat psykers. That or taking a look at the Temple Cats.
8. For the Fabricator-General, first off I'd like to know how the expand and upgrade affects defenses over the duration of the upgrade in both the regular and the expedited path. I'm sick and tired of having so many of our cities be defensive liabilities on the ground. Otherwise, I'd like to design the Marcharius, as Garkill does seem to use Gargants, and possibly start work on the Forge-Cathedral. I do not agree with any attempts to work on Sanctus Furorem—while I can accept debate that we shouldn't be upgrading it, doing so while Tranth is too busy to do his Examine action there is just stupid. Plus, we've got like four cities to upgrade, followed by making the relevant forges, before Scott loses the Young trait.
9. For Lin, I'd like to do a split with maybe two Keeping the Faith (one Vanaheim, one Fyjol IV) and three Those in Shadow.
10. Telepathica is tricky. We obviously want to start the reorganization this turn, as well as do some preparation in case we're invaded right after the Warp storm drops. However, we certainly don't want to risk hurting our long-term growth. My idea would be to have Ridcully spend a year doing the meditation, the investigation if the option is provided, and finally starting the reorganization. Having Ridcully with boosted rolls and a choir to help our fleet should Garkill 3.0 show up is a very high priority for me. Xavier and Tamia would mostly cover the remaining work—I would like to take both mentoring options to help improve the growth of our high-powered psyker numbers (we have 7 Betas in training, and only two Betas in the Sanctionites, and Gammas are also a bit thin on the ground). Probably also have them start compiling the information on wards and force weapons too.
