A Beast in Chains
A Beast in Chains
Freedom!! That is what it wanted most of all to run, to hunt,... to kill yet it remains shackled, caged, pathetic. It seethed, why?, Why!? WHY!? it's brother the great serpent and Sister the Lady maybe satisfied content on being bound never to leave yet not it. It will be free and it will devour all in it's path it's jailers if they still exist will be devoured brought low, It's cage will be nothing but dust it will feast.

This smell it thought it knew this smell... corrupted ones it struggled against it's chains the desire to hunt, to kill overwhelming but try as it might it was too weak it could not even move when once the chains would have rattled and the earth shook millenia of imprisonment had left it weak. What is this? it thought why do I feel my old strength returning.

It sent it's senses outward (A trick it learned during it's millennia of imprisonment) and found a hairless monkey the only fur it had was at the top of it's head it prayed to whatever would call out to help him kill the corrupted ones it granted the monkey an insignificant portion of it's power and watched as the monkey fought and killed those who would try to kill it and in exchange more power flowed through it a small amount only a drop in an ocean but still more power than it gave the monkey.

He remembered that event the monkey no human it tested the word in it's mind was eventually killed by the corrupted ones but not before it read the human's memories it now knew of it's people's culture and knew that the human would have been killed regardless by it's own brethren no less.

So for the first time it had hope it found the humans that it liked and gave them a bit of power some thought it was a gift from their so called "God-emperor" others thought that they had been corrupted but those who did accept his power fully slowly and discreetly moved away from their cities and began to live in the wilds hunting and truly being free.

Yes for the first time it had hope and through these humans' worship it will break these chains, it will have FREEDOM.

I had this idea for a while now and I thought that aside from hopefully making a new great one I will write omakes for the other great ones... so what do you people think?

Just wondering but, during the whole chaos incident, were there any cases of chaos cultists surrendering outright when faced with Rotbart?

Like, because he's there, out of some loyalty or thing.

Probably not, they're Chaos Cultists faced with Loyalists after all.
They probably tried to capture Frederick to enlighten him to the true way or something.

What's the travel speed for a troop transport ship:
1) With Astronomicon & Navigator
2) With Astronomicon, without Navigator
3) Without Astronomicon, with Navigator
4) Without Astronomicon, without Navigator

5) Can you put this in the FAQ?
1. unknwn, fast
2. 1ly per 2.5 days
3. 2ly/day
4. 1ly per 2.5 days

I was just wondering if the sheer favor Avernites have for Rotbart extended to the point where a combat between cultists and Rotbart would have the cultists get like, -50 (It's Rotbart we can't shoot him) Morale penalty.

Huh, that's only 75 days. That's... actually pretty doable. Once we secure the sector we're totally championing a decapitating strike on Rome. Surt and Sigurd to beat hir down, then we land the finishing blow, and back in time for Sanguinala.
I'd say it's too dangerous just to remove a curse on one warrior, besides, if you have a guy like that who's settled down on a planet, I bet you money that it'll eventually come for him.

Field Study 205-D4E-52W
You know everyone and their brother keeps coming up with alpha predators, parasites, and warpy super beast for @durin. How about some pray animals? The Loins have to have had something to eat before we showed up.

Field Study 205-D4E-52W
Forward to Magos Biologis head Maximal:

As the newly built cities of Duat were being erected a Biologis Genetor team led by 2rd rank Xenos Biologis Meh'Fes was tasked to observe the native life near the construction site of Iota Four in the Delta by former head Archmagos Biologis Saren. Priority study was given to the most common known threat in the area, the Ammut Crocodile. Do to it's known ability to devour souls two Zeta Demonlogist Sanctionites were attached to the team as support to observe this power in the field. During observation and oddity was noticed in the behavior of the Ammut Crocodile toward the plains pray animal GEZ-65-Y referred to as the "Flowing Gazelles" *(see attached picture below) by the local workers and military staff. The Ammut Crocodile has an observed preference for Gazelle over any other pray up to and including five separate accounts with witness, two by the team itself, of it abandoning an attack in process on a human for a chance at a Gazelle.

In an effort to learn why the Gazelle was such a chose target the Zetas tried to learn what powers it had before making an astonishing discovery. The Gazelle is believed to have exactly no Pyker powers at all what so ever. Repeated attempts have reviled no powers of any sort that the Zetas could detect. It was noticed however that the Gazelle has a soul many times the strength that a creature it's size and intelligence should.

Further testing shows that what the Gazelle has is a willpower and sense of self so strong as to be able to resist Pyker attacks almost entirely. Several times Implantation Spiders were seen to try and implant a Gazelle and fail to do so, the egg sack materializing outside of the Gazelle and falling to the ground unnoticed. According to one of the Zetas "It's sense of self is so strong that the presence of the eggs in the wrap was rejected by it's soul during the teleportation before it could materialize inside it's flesh."

Attempts at Telekinetic and Biomancy attacks on Gazelles are noted to be nigh impossible for all but the strongest, Delta level or up, pykers while even a Pyromancers warp flames only left mild burns before in escaped where as the Anubis Jackal that received a similar level attack for control was left a charred skeleton. The Pykers tasked with the testing stated it was most likely that willpower and sense of self anchored it's body from warp based powers so well that it forcabley counteracted any attempt to change it by any non physical means.

This belief was further strengthen when it was observed that even after killing the physical Gazelle an Ammut Crocodile still had to struggle to "kill" it's soul with many even getting away. However after eating a Gazelle soul no Ammut Crocodile marked as such was seen needing to eat again for a month or more. A possible trade idem for the Sirens in the Gazelles should be noted.

I have to admit, the prospect of finally fulfilling Avernus' purpose of fighting on Daemon Worlds - with Dark Age tech no less - is an appealing one to me.

Soooo

Who here thinks going after and killing the Daemon that cursed the chapter master is a good idea before he wastes away into nothing?

you have no clue if the greater daemon is still there, and if it is the planet is now a daemonworld

So as someone mostly unfamiliar with Warhammer 40k what are the differences between Avenus and a Daemon World besides Chaos?

I don't think we've implemented any special training for survival on daemon worlds. Klovis-Ultan certainly hasn't released the details on how to raise Inquisitorial Storm Troopers or any file on the Ordo Malleas' experience with Daemon Worlds.

Ahh Citizen there is no such thing as a Daemon world. No such horror can happen as long as the golden light of Terra..oh wait.
