Oh yeah.

If the trainees liable to fall to chaos have already fallen, and the sanctioned ones too, would that mean the remainder have effectively passed a more grueling test than would normally be required for a psyker to graduate? Because it mean we're going to get one of the best pass rates in the history of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, period. And all the graduates would already be veteran level, or higher.

@durin

Is this correct?

1) Also, can Minor Psykers eventually increase their power to a higher level, enough to qualify as a major psyker?

2) For non-primaris psykers, is there a level above 'elite'?

3) Did our ordinary psykers have their power increase (As in, minor to major, delta to gamma, etc) as a result of this invasion?

4) Does Ridcully get even better Divinations? (Maybe a roll twice, take better type of reroll?)
yes, you will have a drop in fail rates for the next half decade (fifteen years for the major psykers
1. yes but very rarely
2. yes, master then gradmaster
3. no
4. no, he got other benefits

Still, there were daemons who witnessed us doing it, so Frederick likely has a reputation in the Warp now as someone who is scary as hell.

Aaaaand next we have the problematic aspect of some Khorne cultist going 'nope, sorry, not attacking Governor Rotbart. It's against my religion.' For extra trouble, this happens on another of the nine worlds.

Frederick Rotbart already had a reputation in the warp, what with that cult revolved around converting him. It just got way bigger.

(If belief can create a warp god, what happens when it's focused on a person, ala the Emperor?)

I had a thought that an Avernite cultist trying to kill Rotbart would suffer major maluses to morale, since he's their beloved governor.

That might be in the local Warp, but rumors of this are going to spread far and wide among daemons. (and probably become exaggerated somehow - not sure how "killed Greater Daemon in one hit" can be exaggerated, but it will be)

The Emperor is currently ascending to godhood. That should tell you. Of course, the person would need sufficient psychic power most likely.

@durin in regards to the turn results before the invasion started will basically every action be canceled and replaced with repairing/hunting down cultists/retraining military/take back lost cities/etc?

In Warhammer Fantasy which is similar enough to Avernus venerated heroes who are still alive get empowered.

@durin will Rotbart get Warp effects from the belief of his citizens of how awesome they think he is while on Avernus?

I still don't like the usage of "ascending" to describe what's happening to him. The Emperor probably doesn't like it either.

EDIT: Yeah I know it technically is ascension but I can't help but feel dirty whenever I think of it like that.

Read the last update. His popularity took a massive hit due to not preparing enough.

We lost some popularity, not a massive amount. The update even says "your peoples trust in you remains high". Most of the morale hit was from people experiencing great amounts of personal loss - dead friends and family. We are still above 10 morale, so we won't even suffer any morale penalties for this.

this was the final part of your turn so no, they just all happened before the invasion
you will have the chance to pause most of the locked actions however

In the updates, the proportion of deaths in the main text seems a little off compared to the proportion of deaths in the spoilertext.

e.g.
Casarrondo, Gormec and Helm's Deep all lost almost their entire defence force, along with around half of their population to demonic attacks.

Casarrondo Defenders Severe damage 10.7% of the population killed
Gormec Defenders Critical damage 12.9% of the population killed
Helm's Deep Defenders Major damage 9.4% of the population killed

What is the discrepancy?

edit: or is that the percentage of the entire region?

We're still above 10 popularity and no sane person would have suggested that we prepare for a demonic invasion of this scale before it actually happened.
"no sane person" does not apply when literal daemons have just killed a bunch of your friends and family and clawed at your mind so they can eat your soul. It's illogical, but it's just how it is. In fact, it's actually healthy for them to think like that, even if it would be a lot better if they completely placed their misgivings on Slaanesh.

I get that most of the morale loss was from personal loss and I accede that we didn't lose a "massive" amount of popularity, but it's still enough to firmly prevent any true cults of personality from forming.

Yup, already mentioned this.

My point was that those people were the outliers not the norm and that hindsight is 20/20.

What about a psyker like Xavier, or Ridcully?

(Or someone who is more of a psyker, like Syr.)

Maybe, but from just a single planet's population it probably wouldn't be a large effect. Mostly I think it would make the local Warp easier to access and use, since a good deal of it would have emotions that resonate with the person in question.

pretty much this, they might get a bit of a home ground advantage but nothing more

Aww. And here I had this idea of a situation where a demon summoner on Avernus might end up with a one in six chance of summoning an Avernus Nationalistic daemon or similar. Nationalism is emotion-driven, after all. Heh. Sadly, it does not really fit with 40k.

Please, let it be that a critfail for a chaos daemonologist psyker for damage results in something like that.

Blaming the Governor for "not being ready enough" to deal with a daemonic invasion is perhaps the most absurd thing I've heard of for a while. I suppose rationality takes a breather for situations like this but still...
