Hey guys what's-

*returns after not keeping up with the quest for a while only to see that Avernus has casually defeated a deamonic incursion with Rotbart personally killing a greater daemon in combat*

...You know for some reason I am not really suprised at this news.
Dude, you should see all the omakes that were made. The people of this thread put out a massive amount, especially Reynal. A lot of them were canon too.

That's still about 1 in every 50 people in Dis killed in just this attack alone. If not for our massive growth rate (I mean really do our woman spend most their lives on their backs and all have triplets or something cause I don't see how we keep up with this kind of death rate) this would have crippled us for years or decades.
Fertility drugs for triplets + Top-tier medical facilities + rejuv-drugs for female fertility past 100 + ... ETC

@durin: did we get video footage of Frederick taking down a Greater Demon?

And then it turns out that this is less of a demon invasion and more of a recruitment drive since Avernite cultists would probably cut through the Abomination's forces like a burning power chainsword through something that is, light, soft, and easily cut through by hot bladed objects.

Much to both of your surprises your seemingly doomed attempt to parry the first blow was not only successful but cut of the claws that were making the blow. As the Keeper of Secrets was stunned for a second by the pain you took advantage of the opening and killed it with a single blow.
Hahahahaha. top that space marines!
we should prioritize having our psykers research the remaining black crystal items so we can unlock their full potential, and possible locate any missing from the set

@durin

1. Did we unlock any special rules for killing a Greater Daemon in single combat?
2. Is it heresy to worship a made-up god, even if you still primarily worship the Emperor? I'm just wondering if we can create Morr or Shallya or something.
3. Is xenos love still heresy?

our population growth is helped by the fact our citizens are starting to have the ability to keep having kids even in their triple digits thanks to rejuv, that's a factor that will snowball at somepoint
many also live basically until killed violently since our current rejuve rate is ... was it 600 years? 900?
something really high that will be a long time coming. and the more segments of the pop get rejuve the larger our pop growth rate will get

In case anyone is curious, here's what a Keeper of Secrets looks like.

I'd also like to think that Frederick shouted lines about Freya's being more pert and full as he fought the Slaaneshi.

~700 is the age limit with the Advanced Rejuvenation Drugs.

Inspired by the city roll, I'm writing a post campaign analysis omake that asserts that the enemy over concentrated on Dis, resulting in an overall reduction in forces that was send up against the Azure Islands and Lindon, with Storm's End and Mirkwood benefiting in particular. As an additional benefit, the diffusion of the horde has results in Avernus having a great many more opportunities to pick off forces piecemeal.

I'll need to get more material to work with though. Preferably the results of the rest of the Spine.

All right, I've got something. It was a pain to make the syllables match up (or close to it). Not too happy with all the lines, but hey.

@Enjou, is this sillier than yours? :p

A World Worth Fighting For!

For a long time we've been marching off to battle
In our thundering head we feel a lot like drunkards
Like the pounding beat our aching heads aren't easy to ignore
Hey, think of instead a World worth fighting for
Huh?
That's what I said a World worth fighting for

I want it deadlier than the warp with razorgrass that
shines like blades
My world causes marvel at its sirens, fear at its battle penguins
I couldn't care less what invaders it kills next
It all depends on what she kills with.
Kraken, Seal, Raptors, eep

Bet the local daemons thought it was quite the ripe fruit
And I'll bet the phase tigers love to eat daemons
You can guess what we have seen the most Since chaos started this war
What do we want?
A world worth fighting for

My world will treat me the same as the rest
Like I belong there
How 'bout a world that's calm n' gentle
where kids don't fear the spiders?
Nah!
The deadly ways and blink of spiders are sure to thrill us
He thinks he's such a tiger killer

I've a rifle back home that's unlike any other
Yet the only impaler he's got is much smaller
But when we come home in victory we'll line up at the palace
What do we want?
A world worth fighting for
Glad that I have
A world worth fighting for
A world worth fighting for

+1 to all defence rolls

Omake: For Her Sake

Henry had been reviewing the completed installation of the new DAoT void shields in Casarrondo when the sky turned purple. Then the void shields started up, flashes of pink skittering across them. Immediately following, the earthquakes began.

- Note to self: Have the various regions resurveyed for fault lines. Hereto unknown Geo-instability will require updating the building code.

It took a moment to get back to the local city headquarters, where Henry found a harried Major-General John Smith rapidly sending orders to increase the deployment of forces on the city walls. The Major-General glanced over at him when he came in. "Prefectus Volkiss, glad to see you are alright."

"What is happening?" Henry asked.

"Daemonic invasion, that's what is happening." Major-General Smith bit out, before turning back to the scrum of subordinates waiting for orders.

- Note to self: Void shields are working effectively. However, they were never tuned for this purpose. Consider re-evaluating Void Shield effectiveness against daemonic invasions. Consult with Tranth.

Henry noticed that the general was giving preference to the military subordinates. Perhaps understandable in a normal crisis, but likely to be a problem in a situation such as this. Henry motioned several of the other waiting people over.

The Arbiter among them spoke first, "Tell the general that there will a large number of cultists and chaotic psykers, I require military forces to support my Arbiters in maintaining order."

Henry nods before motioning the anxious looking young man to speak. In the transportation department if his clothes were any guide. "Sir, the railway south to Gormec has collapsed less than two miles outside of the city walls!"

"Has the collapse exposed any part of the tunnel to the surface?" Henry keeps his cool while gathering more information.

"Yes sir," the young man answered.

"I see," Henry motioned the other waiting petitioners to wait before interrupting the general. "General Smith, I require one of the Siege Brigades to secure the underground railway." Henry continued before the general could respond, "Also, I recommend a division of labor, you focus on commanding the defenses, while I will focus on civil order, logistics, and infrastructure."

Major-General Smith hesitates a moment before nodding, "Agreed, you can have the 29th Siege Brigade, I'll notify them to expect orders from you."

Before the general can turn back to his other subordinates, Henry spoke again, "Also, as the conditions prevent any scouting or harassment, I require that all your scouting units be reassigned to assist the Arbiters in suppressing cultists and rouge pyskers. I also require five Infantry regiments to be assigned to support the Arniters as heavy response teams. In addition, I need the militia prepped to respond to any request for aid by the Arbiters."

Henry pauses a moment at the general's long look. "Internal threats are are the greatest danger in this scenario."

- Note To Self: Increase training around internal threat scenarios, emphasizing interdepartmental cooperation.

Major General Smith waves his assent, "Let me figure out which units are best to assign, but you'll get your men." He then turns back to his subordinates again.

Henry looks around for his assistant Tom, intending to tell him to find a- oh nice, he already found a desk and is having it moved into the command center. Henry takes a seat, sets his rifle down next to him, and begins unleashing his greatest weapon: memos.

Memo 1: To 29th Siege Brigade, secure the underground railway leading south to Gormec. Construct staggered defenses, while engineers rig the entire tunnel back to the city limits with mines and explosives. Then retreat back to the city, and prepare to detonate the mines once the enemy has entered the tunnel.

Henry gestures the young transportation mechanic over, and gives him a message for his superior about the coming military aid and orders to assist them in every way possible.

- Not to self: Railways are potential vulnerabilities. Consider design improvements to both avoid collapse and to ensure collapse does not expose the city to unexpected entrance.

Henry looks up as a young officer delivers a note from General Smith listing the Infantry regiments provided, and promising the militia commanders have been notified. Swiftly, Henry writes up a second memo for the harried Arbiter, assigning the new forces for her support.

The administrators and other heads from non-military organizations are starting to gather around Henry's desk.

Memo 3: Arrange for clearing all civilian traffic from the Artford tunnel crossing. Ensuring it will be clear for military traffic.

- Note to self: That crossing has always been a choke point, consider traffic realignment.

Memo 8: Rock fall at Springfork has blocked traffic, divert supply lines to Matheod and Clifton.

Memo 23: Riot in the Grenfell section has cut water lines to the fire lines. Reroute using secondary piping to ensure sufficient fire fighting.

Meanwhile a trickle of memos and notes between Henry's desk and the General's table began to become a steady stream, as Henry ensured a quick response to any need by the military by the other departments, and in return the general responded to each of Henry's reported needs in the city for military force.

After the first bloom of the crisis was over, and things began to steady out, Henry actually found a few moments to rest and contemplate. When he did he noticed the whispers for the first time. Henry smiled sadly, what greater pain could there be than the loss of his wife... was it really sixty years ago? And what greater pleasure than to sit and talk with her? All lost, and no illusion would bring her back. Henry gazed out at the command center of busy people once again caught up in the struggle to survive Avernus, and the sadness faded from his smile. This was his pleasure now. Protecting the people and world that Adrienne had protected.

So, that's what he would do. For her sake.

Exhausted and a little burnt out. Didn't really come off the way I wanted it to, but oh well, there it is.
