True, and I'm willing to expend Administrative actions to expand the factories to get more material.

I just can't agree to spending Mechanicus actions on it when we have so much stuff to do.

What about exotic material? We are really dependent on trade there. Without trade we have a net income of 435 and the greater forge project is going to take 121 per year, 7 more from the naval refit, 22 from merchant production which is 150 total. When we do the recon armor that will be another 96 taken up which gives us 189 left. Which can be reduced further when we start expanding our fleet numbers. Unless we manage to keep our trade going it can start becoming our limiting factor.

Also right now we have two martials available next year and will likely be used on 3 turn actions next turn (vanquishers and one of specialists, artillery or more siege). That leaves three turns before any new research can be implemented and it would be competing with two actions we want to take (three if you include recon armor for the phase tigers). Two turns of econ research and one military research would still have us pick and choose between what to build in martial.

Econ research also is better the sooner we have it as that is more turns for us to gather resources at an improved rate to build up a stockpile. As for why materials, we had 1.2 bil in material reserve the turn after the WAAAAGH at the start of this turn we had 680 mil. It is pretty easy for us to have a negative income for a turn, even more so with expediting some of the more expensive projects. So I would like the automated factory to help build the reserve back up incase Avernus is attacked again so we can expedite repairs.

Now if you want to research two military production techs (say stealth planes and land raiders) to produce when the martial actions come free again that would still leave one year to research an econ tech as we would not have a free action to implement a third researched item.

That cod piece though..I LOVE IT!

JK in all reality they're just wearing a more heavy/augmented carasace armor right?

I still think it's better to do the Admin Reorg before doing other projects. We've been putting it off for a while and the sooner we get it done, the better. Seriously, the Administratum as a whole is so terrible that there's an entire Ordo dedicated to cutting through as much red tape as possible. Taking this opportunity to actually fix it is something that'll benefit us for centuries to come.

It is, but it's gotta get modified so it actually looks like it's from the Imperium. That means paint, purity seals, and skull ornamentations.
Drop the skull ornaments. They are tacky and represent Khorne.

We can't use the acquilla either cause it is probably being used by the Abomination.

A armour with camo paint would be best.

Heresy! Skulls represent humanity. It's something that everyone has in common, regardless of age, sex, or social status. It also serves as a warning to the many denizens of the galaxy that mankind is not weak.

The Abomination uses pentagons. The Aquila is still holy.

I'm pretty sure that the Abomination using the Emperor's intellectual property isn't going to stop us from using them. Really, the difference will be in what meaning we preach the symbols representing. For example...

Imperial Trust Aquila: Do not be blinded by past glories or hatreds, but rather pursue a better future for humanity through reason.

Abomination Aquila: Blind yourself to the past. It is irrelevant. Only your future orders matter.

Or something like that.

That is nice and all but the effigies are still the same, a constant reminder of the Emperor's absence an helplessness at stopping the symbols of his church from being corrupted.

We may have to bite the bullet and have the church change its symbols.

Giving up the symbols is giving them up to the Abomination. I don't think that can be allowed - those symbols belong to the Emperor, and just because our equivalent of Satan thinks it has a right to them doesn't mean it actually does.

I think it would be a matter that would be determined by Saint Lin at the end of the day, though, given he's the head of the church.

We have gone back to the Imperium Truth - Revised Edition

The book that teached something that is not religion and is more a philosophical school of thought.

We all know what the Emperor thought of religion and iconography is tied closely to it. It should be possible to change symbols of what things represent. It doesn't matter what we use as long as they are not already taken as symbols of Chaos have power and the Abomination may cross contaminate if we keep using what are now its symbols.

Now canon says that humans are predisposed and need to believe in something. With this being the major factor why the Emperor's campaign to stamp out belief to put it plainly not very successful.

But where does this say that something people should believe in would be religion or a god? There exists systems that don't fall into any of those categories and could fill the human need for such a thing.

Example I give is spiritualist, Buddhism, some people replace it with science and other schools of philosophy.

As for Emperor symbol. I am partial to continue adoption of norse culture.

Damn, I'd forgotten about the memetic dangers. We have to get rid of those symbols they are a metaphysical liability, the same as having symbols of the Four scattered around the planet.

There goes a good chunk of morale...

Here's the thing you are forgetting - the New Imperial Truth is a religion. The Emperor has accepted being worshiped and that he's ascending to full godhood. He doesn't like it, but he's accepted it. The Imperial Trust worships the Emperor.

Also, the iconography we have was largely given by the Emperor himself. The Aquila was a symbol the Emperor himself used.

As far as Buddhism goes, I remind you that the Emperor tried to create multiple religions back on Earth to solve problems, but they all failed. It's quite likely that in 40k he was Buddha.

Again, I would leave this decision to Saint Lin. He'd know best whether or not the symbols need to be changed. Since thus far to our knowledge he has not advocated this, I don't think it's needed.

IMO what matters regarding the symbols is what people believe they mean more than the actual symbols themselves. The weight of an object or symbol in the Warp is determined by emotion, not something inherent to the symbol itself.

But we can always just ask @durin - has Saint Lin given any thoughts or opinions on changing the Emperor's symbols?

while the weight of an object is decided by what people believe it means it is the total belief that matters
so while the majority of people in the galaxy think of a symbol as a symbol of the Emperor it is fine, when a significant portion view it as a symbol of the Abomination it becomes a slight risk, when the majority view it as a symbol of the Abomination it becomes near as dangerous as any other sign of a Chaos God

The problem is that it is not just the local emotional charge that matters but the universal one. You could dedicate a symbol of Khorne to the God of Fluffy Kittens it would still be a symbol of Khrone because Khrone says so and all his cultists agree.

Edit: ninja-ed by the GM. It seems we are not in danger yet.

Personally I'll worry about it when Lin tells us we should worry about it. Until then we've got lots of other stuff to worry about.

So we're not in danger yet, and abandoning the symbols now could actually hurt the chances of other people resisting the Abomination since we'd be conceding the symbols in our area.

If we need to we can always make altered versions of the symbols that differentiate them so they are related to the True Emperor.

It has to be a clean break. The symbols of the dark gods have some variation to them. All are dangerous.

The longer we put it off the harder it is going to be to do.

As for allowing the Abomination to get to the tipping point faster, the Imperial Trust is a drop in the galactic ocean, us abandoning the symbols will be near-meaningless on that scale.

Again, this is something I think will be up to Saint Lin. @durin - has Saint Lin given an opinion on this?

That may have been retcon'd. There's been a crapload of evidence that Emps was only born towards the end of the DAoT, and the shaman thing was only propaganda in recent books.
