So.. Avernus has the best divination capabilities now?:o
Well considering our best diviner saw two gods (one of which he saw the birth of) and entered the domain of a third...

Didn't see that. Also can't we just ask a rogue trader to go for us and give us some type of rundown?
A Rogue Trader wouldn't have been able to get as much information on the galaxy as the Dark Eldar have, especially without the Astronomican.

Where are you pulling that rogue trader from? We're in the middle of a Warp Storm, and I bet that there aren't any rogue traders anymore. Either they died in the warp when Big E died, they were on am Imperial world when it happened and they got absorbed, or they made their own Petty Imperium wherever they were when Big E died.

What concerns me is that the Necrons have fallen into a vicious two-sided civil war. The only reason I can think of is that one side has become followers of the Void Dragon, who'd have become unshackled after the Fall of Sol.

If that's the case, the only way there could be a Necron civil war is if the other side had something equally as powerful as the Void Dragon. If the Deceiver was on the other side of that war, the Laughing God would probably help him out, but there's no evidence that Cegorach is involved in the Necron war at all. If it's the Nightbringer, we're fucked either way. If it's the Outsider, we might just get left alone, but the Outsider doesn't really do things, getting into wars included.

Huzzah, Durin is encouraging the growing SB/SV meta-lore! I always enjoy watching 40k quests make mention of other peoples games, gives a sense of world building based on community input and good game mechanics.

So more or less good news all around? I mean sure having a lot of the Imperium fall to Chaos isn't great, but it could be a lot worse. I kinda expected most of the Space Marine chapters to fall to Chaos or the Abomination.
Eh, I'd say that most Space Marine chapters would die out rather than fall to Chaos or the Abomination.

Space Marines in general are one of the few groups in the Imperium to not worship the Emperor, rather seeing him as a Great Man. There's only some exceptions that went into full Emperor worship.

The first founding chapters would likely survive pretty well.

also while some chapters will fall to Chaos (or the Abomination) it will take a lot longer then the hundred and fifty or so years that has passed
currently most if not all of the senior officers were alive in the time of the Emperor, that will change

Does this quest use the fluff from the new or old necrons? If its the new fluff it might just be a throw down between the Silent King and the rest of the Necron in an attempt to make a new empire. The type of thing that would have happened regardless of Big E's death.

I'm not so sure. The Abomination runs off Order right? Who's gonna be more ordered then most Space Marine Chapters? I was at least expecting the Ultramarines to fall to him. I kinda figured we'd left with Space Wolves, Salamanders and maybe Blood Ravens.

No the Abomiantion is a Chaos God with the domains of Faith and Obedience

I worded it poorly. He runs off Faith and Obedience which are pretty close to just running off Order.

Out of Curiosity do we know of any Space Marine Chapters that were in the area before the Warp Storm? Maybe a "local" recruiting planet? Cause I'm looking for any canon Space Marine chapters in the Pacificus and I can't seem to find any.

Others may have been sainted before him. We know from what he's told us that other locations received the Emperor's message as well, including many of the First Founding Chapters.
That sounds more like telepathy than sainting to me, but let's just ask durin and avoid an argument.

@durin, did the Emperor saint anyone besides Saint Lin? How did other locations receive the Emperor's message?

We probably couldn't try to arrange for a care package/slight reinforcement of Cadia could we? I'd wish to keep Chaos in check as much as possible.

Warp storm dickery as mentioned before, also time is advancing at least 7 times as fast outside of our sub-sector, any ship/convoy we send out would have low odds of getting to Cadia in any reasonable time period. Higher chances of them being eaten by demons or appearing in a completely different part of the galaxy.

So for me the biggest news is the time differential. That has been a lot of time for other groups to establish and a lot more time before the trust is out of the Warp storm

While the time differential does give the others more time to set up than us that's only for the stronger Perry Imperiums. It also give us less time to fall apart unlike the outside so when we pop out a number of them could very well fall apart from the inside leaving us to pick up some choose pieces.
