[X] Defensive- Concentrate fire on one target.- This will allow your artillery to have a major impact on the selected target at the expense of have no effect on the other targets.
[X] Defensive- Target the outer city.- Firing into the outer city with an aim to ruin as much of it as possible would most likely kill a decent number of slave-soldiers and some Dark Eldar as well as reducing the benefit of the Dark Eldar's knowledge of the city. This option will make future assaults on the outer city easier and should be seriously considered.

[X] Aggressive- Concentrate fire on one target.- This will allow your artillery to have a major impact on the selected target at the expense of have no effect on the other targets.
[X] Aggressive- Targets designated by ground forces.- This will allow the artillery to provide a major advantage to your forces in the city and would be a major advantage for them. This option will make it far easier to take ground and deal with the hit and run attacks and ambushes that so plagued your previous advances.

[X] Wait One Day before attacking – This will allow a decent amount of preparatory bombardment before you begin your attack without sacrificing to much time. - This is the moderate option and can work with any army composition or attack plan.
[X] Do Not pause after attacking – By continuing to to attack until you have claimed the entire outer city you will ensure that you maintain any momentum and quickly take the outer city but will leave your forces vulnerable to being overextended and ambushes.

[X] Attack cautiously- You could have your forces slowly and carefully advance, reducing the amount of enemy territory that they can take but reducing both your total casualties and the kill to loss ratio of your troops.

[X] Begin to fortify six hours before dark- This will reduce the amount of territory that you take by a massive amount but will allow your forces to erect good fortifications at their positions, clear killing fields and search for secret passages before dark making it near impossible for the Dark Eldar night forces.

[X] Have a mix of Midgardians and Avernites lead the attack– This is a balance between the other two options and will involve having the Avernites support the Midgardians allowing them to more effectively engage the Dark Eldar but preventing you from having the casualties concentrated over your worst men or having the fire-power to make an attempt on the inner walls. - This option would be best if you are quickly taking the outer area.

Why the heck is everyone voting to target the inner city walls after we just committed to taking the outer city first!?

Especially when the option explicitly says it's a minor priority!

If you wanted to take the inner city then you should have voted so last time.

This zigzagging focus is just going to get all our men killed.

Target one thing: Defensive target the city, Aggressive target support for our ground forces.

Period.

That is the obvious optimal artillery targeting.

Additionally we should have the AA target the city in general. Since right now we have massive AA, but they are useless until the Eldar attack with their fighters.

With how heavy the inner wall is defended we will nee to spent days softening it up.

So we have the options of not targeting the inner wall but having to wait for days until the refocussed artillery can soften them up
or
we start now to soften them up wich still will not reduce the time we will have to wait after taking the outer city by much because the inner wall is so heavyly fortified.

Given that we will have problems in two weeks and it will take us with the curently favored plan at least 1 week to finish taking the outer city because of the waiting times I do not want to wait another week after that to soften the inner city up first to prevent the attack on it beeing a massacer on our troops. As long as the DE has AA defence positions the navy will be limited to resupply us. Voting for taking the inner city first will not help it as the AA defences are scattered around the city in the various defences so we have to take the entire city to shut off the DE AA.

So yeah. We run out of time and if we start to run out of ammo we will run into desperat situations.

@durin How caple is our artillery to damage the inner city walls while spillting its attention?

[X] Defensive- Split fire between two targets.- This will allow your artillery to target multiple areas while still having a significant impact.
[X] Defensive- Target the inner walls.- This will make the inner walls easier to take when the time comes but will not have any effect on the currant fight and will take time or concentration of fire to cause major damage. This option will be needed before attacking the inner city but should be a minor priority until then.

While on the defense, soften up the inner walls and the outer city. This will make taking both easier later on.

While on the move, it's best that we support the troops as they advance so they can take ground with minimal losses.

[X] Attack as normal- You can have your forces attack using their standard operating procedures, which will have them gain ground at a moderate rate and suffer moderate casualties.
[X] Begin to fortify four hours before dark- This will reduce the amount of territory that you take by a major amount but will allow your forces to erect basic fortifications at their positions, clear killing fields and search for secret passages before dark making it very hard for the Dark Eldar night forces.

I think this is the best way to go about things. We'll use a single day to soften up the outer city to support our initial advance. Once we've done so we'll attack and stay on the attack, but take enough time to fortify positions before nightfall that we shouldn't be vulnerable. A mixed composition will ensure we take the outer city quickly.

So we have the options of not targeting the inner wall but having to wait for days until the refocused artillery can soften them up

We have two weeks worth of ammo to work with and the orbitals will be cleared within a week. Why not just wait for the fleet to finish up and provide ortillery?

What we should focus on is conserving troops. We have lost the highest percentage of men by far compared to the other armies. Our forces are close to the edge of combat ineffectiveness. We should take our time and focus on one objective at a time. Anything else is just spreading our already weakened forces/assets thinner.

[X] Pause for a day after attacking – By pausing for a full day after attacking you will be able to take the time to better fortify the ground you hold and for your artillery to soften up the next section of the city at the cost of time. - This option should be taken with either a small wait before your first attack or an aggressive attack plan.

[X] Attack as normal- You can have your forces attack using their standard operating procedures, which will have them gain ground at a moderate rate and suffer moderate casualties.

Slow and steady, the ball is in our court right now, we should make the most of it.

I understand the advantage of focussing. OK. Lets focus to support and conserve our troops.

We will lose troops while attacking. We should take the time to fortify our positions as we will be stretching our forces quite a bit thinner than they are now.

[X] Attack cautiously- You could have your forces slowly and carefully advance, reducing the amount of enemy territory that they can take but reducing both your total casualties and the kill to loss ratio of your troops.

If we have time to move cautiously than we should take it. We have supplys for another two week and during the next week the navy seems to be done with orbital clean up and can resupply us and maybe even provide ortillery. Why should we advance normal and not spent as much time as we can fortifying our positions for the night raids?

[X] Valerian

Assuming three two day cycles we should have the outer city within a week or so. That gives us half a week to smash down the inner walls before assaulting them, and another half week to take the inner city without suffering supply issues.

it is capable and will take around twice as long then if you focused it on the walls

@durin Once we get the orbital support, our fleet will be able to send us more resources?
In the orbital bombarddment, we will be able to assign objectives for the fleet?
The bombardment will be helped by the diviner choir?
Are the orbital bombardment precise enough for not destroy our forces while pounding the city defenses, or we will need to abandon the city before it starts?

your fleet will be able to more easily land resources for you
you will be able to request orbital bombardment but should be vary careful with using it within the same city as you, for sustained orbital bombardment you would wont to be at least ten kilometers from the city even with the Diviners
