[X] Back in her Apartments.
Yes, people will gossip, but it's not like "Rhaenyra wants to talk with her friend alone" is an earth-shattering revelation. The secrets are what's spoken about, not who were speaking.

[X] Agree to Lady Johanna's suggestion. It will be held in the throne room.

Honestly, I just feel like Rhaenyra would want her own opinions on the location of her future wedding respected, and having a bit of control over said wedding would be a balm to an arranged marriage for her. As such, I feel like it fits for her to extend that grace to others as well.

[X] Talk about her home. You know little of the Crag or the Westerlands in general. Perhaps she could tell you more about them.

We are going to rule these lands one day, this is a good way to learn about them.

"ask Alicent to meet us by the river, ask a friend to help us, or just flirt discreetly"?
Does Syrax count as a friend in this scenario?

[x] Plan Safe Curiosity v2.0

We show interest in cats, then Otto brings his own cats to curry favor. Then the other nobles copy him. Soon it'll become court fashion to have a cat. It's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

She likes cats? Johanna continues to have awesome vibes

Hm... not completely sure about what options I want, but I can't wait for us to learn about what Otto did. I'm gonna write the joke now and repeat it after the next part.

Alicent to Rhaenyra: My father told me to comfort your father while wearing my mother's dress.
Rhaenyra: WHAT?!

Rhaenyra to Viserys: Otto forced Alicent to try and seduce you!
Viserys: ...what?

Viserys in a letter to Daemon: Otto forced his daughter to try and sleep with me!
Daemon: Oldtown smells a little crispy for some reason.

don't take sides between the couple, it won't end well. instead, side with religion, because
-[X] "It would be best not to risk giving those eager to criticize the match a slight against the faith to exaggerate."

[X] Bring up her cats. She seems quite fond of the beasts.

cats.

Alicent probably won't appreciate us telling others something she is being very clear is being told to us in secret.

Viserys doesn't have one.

What year is it in Quest?

Because you mentioned Grand Maester Mellos on a few occasions despite him not becoming Grand Maester until 112AC.

Additionally in book canon despite claims that he was voice of moderation, he was one of major supporters of the Rhaenyra/Laenor match despite Laenor being open with his proclivities.

Johanna on the other hand wanted to have the vows exchanged in the throne room. Her reasons were vague, but you got the sense she believed it would make her be seen as more of a legitimate consort in the eyes of the realm rather than just your father's second wife. This would naturally make you flying with Syrax rather pointless if it was going to be indoors.
Show what all that training was for, obviously. You and Syrax will hang upside down on the ceiling.

I feel we should back up Johanna's preference in solidarity. What woman, what queen, doesn't want control over their own wedding?

I would argue that Viserys already married once, let Johanna have her way. Besides we already will be flying on Syrax on the Royal Progress anyway.

To be fair, it's Viserys' wedding to. If the point is to not come across as favoring the groom over the bride I'd figure the sept would be where to go.

Also remember that its been all but said that Johanna is favoring the throne room due to wanting to make her position as a royal more prominent, as opposed to just a replacement for our mother. That's nothing too terrible, but the divide here strikes me as more one of the importance of the new queen compared to our mother then anything else.

This is the sort of event I could see people 20 years from now pointing out to say that obviously Viserys only meant that we were heir only until a son is born to Johanna, why would he reduce the claim to the throne of the children of the wife whom he married in his actual throne room? And that's probably something similar to what Johanna is thinking when she insists the wedding be in a throne room out of all places, that is, to associate the marriage and her line with the actual throne.

I'm just saying, that if the secret that Alicent is so worried to tell us about is 'just' that her father wanted his daughter to marry the king, then it seems like kind of a non shocker given how even Rhaenyra was repeatedly thinking about how if more people knew about it they would immediately rush to try to offer their own matches to Viserys.

Eh there's a difference between normal marriage brokering and Otto loudly saying Rhaenyra should be heir while shoving his daughter at Viserys while Aemma's body was still coldwarm. Otto is in a position of trust, and it would behoove Rhaenyra to know about his squirelly schemes in character.
