That is true, but good lord, Maegor actively worked to be hated. Whereas we are indeed only facing disdain. And there is not much we can do about being a woman. There are large swathes of lords who will flat out never love us. But we can make them respect us. Already some, like the Northerners, seem to lean that way, per the starting post. We can build on that. But that means we might need challenges that can boost our reputation, as if we were a man.
Pretty much the reasoning behind my second write-in. We need to get going on building a legend for us that the lords can't ignore.

Though I would say you want to bridle the horse from behind. For the singers to sing our songs, we first need to have something they can sing about. And if it is even just tourney victories! (and tourneys that make sure the intended person wins are pretty damn common in Westeros)

That's what I want to do, earn respect, which is why I voted for the option that has us determined prove ourself worthy of the throne, rather then just scorning what people think of us.

I'd be willing to try a write in that has us decide that we want to earn respect and prove ourself worthy of the throne while asking for a specific challenge in order to do so.

Eh? I don't understand how you came to that reading.

The intent is to get our girl to desire proving herself in public to build that reputation.

The Otto converstion was the most predictable one but the choices for Daemon feel like they're more about how we want to deal with Otto than a strategy for Daemon personally I think a "keep your friends close and enemies closers" strategy is probably the best plan for both of them.
This would be my favored approach... Agree with him that whereas Daemon would not betray Viserys Daemon is a troublemaker and a pain in the side, but we would rather keep him at an arm's length...

Oh, right. Well, I guess that is the difference. I was thinking in terms of concrete actions already, not just acquiring attitudes...
We don't really have something concrete to go on and I think we will have a better time to get things done long-term if we remember that we play a character and not just steer a vote enacting vehicle. Getting Rhaenyra to want the things we want will make it much easier to achieve them.

Edit: On that note, we must to speak with Alicent next turn. Iron is hot.

Might I interest you in a write-in?

[] To Otto: Agree that something should be done, but not that exile is the right option. Daemon can plot and gather power in Runestone just as well as in Kings Landing. Maybe even easier.

Otto can be a great ally as long as we work to keep it that way. As long as he pins his hopes on us instead of, say, grandchildren by Viserys, we'll have the Lord Hand in our camp.

With all the talk of marriage, I've come around to the idea of marrying Gwayne and using him as a beard for Rhaenyra and Alicent. The son of a second son wouldn't be prestigious enough to usurp us and rule jure uxoris per say, but he's noteworthy enough as the Hand's eldest that we wouldn't get too much flak for marrying him. I regret not getting the measure of him this turn.

We also get another convenient excuse for keeping Alicent around, besides her being Rhaenyra's childhood friend.

[X] You will prove them wrong and that you are worthy of the throne.

Listen, I'm not saying a monarch needs the consent or support of the elites to rule effectively, but we need the consent or support of the elites to rule effectively.

[X] About the Lords: [Defiant] If you were a man, they would praise you for the very same things that they now wag their tongues about and you will not settle for their mere acceptance just to have your memory tainted by their slander like Visenya. The bards will sing of a warrior queen and your name will live long after your detractors have been forgotten. You will make sure of that.

Is this ok?
[] Write-In: Responsibility has not worked, nor can he truly be trusted to govern, so too will a distant posting be considered tantamount to exile. Perhaps a military campaign to settle his humors and allow him to excise his ardor. Recommend that Daemon be sent to subjugate the Valean Mountain Tribes or the Stepstones.

I am trying making my own write-in...

What I want to say to him is that even if Daemon would never betray Viserys, he is still an immature troublemaker and a pain in the side, BUT we should still keep him at arm's length where we can minimize the damage caused his shenanigans

This is sounding a bit like we're implying that Daemon needs to be executed because sending him away won't solve anything.

But what about farcical aquatic ceremonies instead?

He is a prince of the blood. Probably something more like house arrest.

As much as I hate Daemon as a person, he is too valuable and loyal a piece in the Game of Thrones to throw away. Unfortunately, he needs to be ridden hard in order to control himself (both ways). We might want to start trying to bring the Velaryons into our orbit, if only to balance out Otto and unite the family.

[X] [non-commital Write-In] You can appreciate Daemon as dangerous abstractly, in general, but not deliberately harming you, or his brother. You cannot truly imagine it, even as you increasingly cannot decide which of Daemon's audacity, his cruelty, or his fierce passion for his family rules over him, and see the potential dangers to the crown, if not the king.

[X] About the Lords: [Defiant] If you were a man, they would praise you for the very same things that they now wag their tongues about and you will not settle for their mere acceptance just to have your memory tainted by their slander like Visenya. The conversation with Otto has really driven home some of the deterioration of Rhaenyra's relationship with Daemon, but I think that places her at muddled and confused now, not wholeheartedly agreeing to his danger to her family. After all, tentatively reaching out with Visenya-lore turned into a genuine heart-to-heart with Viserys, and at this point OTL without reaching out Rhaenyra was kinda halfway convinced he didn't truly love her or her mother Aemma, with some of the same conflicted turmoil as I imagine for the noncommittal option.

I don't think that Otto will just up and go off him just because I don't make a suggestion after shooting down his. Though, to be perfectly frank, it's not as if I would mind as long as our hands stay clean.

@Teen Spirit Would this be an acceptable Write in...?

[] Agree in part, but disagree with his solution. Daemon wouldn't betray your father despite how much of an immature troublemaker and a pain in the side for anyone on the court, BUT you would rather keep him at arm's length to minimize the trouble that his sheneigans will inevitably cause.

We're not actually saying house arrest though, and if I got an implication of an execution from that statement, then perhaps Otto would also think that was what we were implying, given in his heart he would probably, really, really want to execute Daemon.

[X] To Viserys: Some lieges will never be loved, but are still followed because they are respected. Request challenges that will allow Rhaenyra to prove herself, the same way male heirs might be put to the test.

@Teen Spirit : Does the latter work as a write-in?

My issue is that seems to be effectively the same as the Agree in part option I already put in.

Yeah that's fine.

We might want to ask any man we intend to be our beard what they think about being one before designating them for the position though.

Well, in my Write in we don´t agree with Otto that "should not be allowed to return, lest he create more problems." but that we should keep him in Kings's Landing because we wouldn´t be able to have a certain control over him if he leaves

Works for me. Daemon going on some far off military campaign is what he ends up doing in canon anyway so hopefully wouldn't be too resentful if he hears we had our hand in this.

I really dislike Azel's write in for the implication that could be read into it of us hinting Daemon should be executed. That's not the sort of thing I'd want to get out about us at this point.
