If we go with the full data wipe, will we be able to possibly finish the superweapon designs that will be of most use to us? The Ionic Ring Ship would be a great way for us to speed up the terraforming of planets we intend to colonize and the World Devastator would really help us build up our fleet and obtain vital natural resources for our industries.

Also, would the Maw researchers we retrieve if we choose this option provide any substantial boost to Learning?

We need to take into account the fact that Thrwan also has to prepare for the outsiders (I forgot the name, it was Yuzhan von something) and a superweapon might help us with that. The superweapon that is created might also help in finishing those enemies that can't be defeated normally, like the virus that lives in a planet (something like that), the MOTHER (aka. ABALOTH, sorry I suck at names) and stuff like that.

Edit: The name of the plague/virus/symbiote I was talking about is called Mnggal-Mnggal

Wait. The quantum-crystalline armor isn't developed yet?

More Thrawn isn't sure if its actually that powerful or just being exaggerated by the initial designer so I haven't mentioned it in the update.

You could but it'd be extremely expensive. And if you do shut it down it depends on what Isaard does to the researchers. Depending on what she does you might be able to retrieve them for your own research, but she also might kill them or put them into another hypersecure installation.

I'm supporting letting it run.

It drains the empire who is our enemy at the moment. Plus any research they get we get for no cost.

If we get around to launching that coup and taking them over then we can take them and have them research more useful things.

Besides, if we wipe the research lab they will just put them somewhere else and do a security sweep. Sabotage at the super secret lab is a pretty strong indicator of a security problem and we want as little looking that way as possible since we currently ARE their security.

You know, if we end up doing the coup before Palpy initiates Shadow Hand, I had this funny image in my head of him loudly announcing his return, only for the entirety of the Empire to tell him to shove it. His reaction to what Thrawn has done with the Empire in his absence would be even better. Non-humans being embraced, superweapons being used for purposes that don't involve mass murder, the light side of the Force being taught in Thrawn's Force Order, and best (or worst, in Palpy's eyes) of all, no (overt) mass murder or enslavement of sentient beings!

We pick the useful ones like the World Devastators and the quantum-crystalline armor to develop. Though with the World Devastators, we may want to remove the self-upgrade protocols and just strip it down to being mobile factories with quantum-crystal hulls.

The research is not actionable in the short term. Leaving it as-is is basically a free fundamental research slot. It also doesn't run the risk of compromising our spy network. If we they get close to a working prototype we will know in advance and can take action.

Some projects, such as the Sun Crusher, even as envisioned, give us options on dealing with the Outsiders that don't involve literal scorch earth policy on all lost planets. Since we have Thrawn we should be able to engineer a Malanchor V type battle with the Yuuzhang Vong and wipe a significant portion of their fleet. It will not make the war trival, but even managing to reduce total galactic casualties to 1% will be a huge improvement to cannon and save literal trillions of lives.

On the other hand, if the Empire does pursue the use of superweapons, it means a whole lot of things diverted to them, meaning they'd be more shorthanded in terms of conventional assets. Dunno if my reasoning makes sense though.
Not really because the Maw isn't in contact with anyone. The Empire doesn't waste anything or gain anything from the Maw. It took a completely random and highly lucky blind jump for the Maw to be made aware that anything had changed in the outside galaxy. They spent more than a decade not knowing that Tarkin was dead or that the Emperor died as well. So them running does not affect the Empire until they are discovered and leave the Maw itself. Which means we don't want to give them time to develop tech they will use at that point. Wiping the data completely is the best for us. We keep the information out of the hands of everyone but us, and we gain the principles of the tech which is what we want not the worthless superweapons. Even the sun crusher is worthless and all we need is the torpedo. The armor will never be applicable to anything large scale.

The problem with the Empire is that they will soon have to make a choice. Either keep the superweapon project alive or kill it, without the entire galaxy under their thumb I doubt they have the funding to continue on the research to the projected ends. Even assuming the most lopsided rolls for the Empire's economy, that won't change the fact that its in the process of disintegrating as various provincial powers arise and the New Republic gets their feet under them.
No they won't because the Empire doesn't know about the Maw nor are the actually doing anything with it. The Maw worked on its own until it was forced to come out of hiding. Wiping the data forces them out of hiding but they will have nothing to show for it do the Empire will just focus on normal production.

None of the superweapons are worth building. The tech behind their function is what we want. The ionic ring tech doesn't need to ship. The world devastator is all about the molecular furnace which can be built on anything and just fed materials.

There is no reason to leave the Maw running. They don't hurt anyone like that and just help our enemies later on.

And the world devastator tech is already out anyways since Palpatine had that tech before Endor and is building them at Byss and the deep core shipyards right now.

Should probably vote as well. Like I said leaving the Maw running helps no one except our enemies when they finally come out of hiding.

Two reasons why.

One, more R/D data.

Two, if the Empire wants to keep wasting cash on Wunderwaffen rather then actually useful shit, all the better for us.

Nothing better than getting fruits of other people's R&D

Let them continue to split their focus and waste resources on ridiculous superweapons. Similar to the intelligence vote, I would rather not tip our hand.
