The Dawi in Arda (Hiatus)

We start with a steam engine then figure the rest out via experimentation. Luckily our young guild is not saddled with the traditionalist Guild of Engineers breathing down our neck.

Eventually they will build a copter from our theoretical understanding.

It wasn't serious.

But not being on a Deathworld and fighting constant war is going to do something interesting to the Dawi.

One thing for sure long bouts of peace will make us a nightmare to dislodge from our hold and I will not be surprised if by the war of the ring we have a core of runic weapons and armour wearing dawi And we like will have lots of guns and some interesting toys

I am concerned by the plan regarding the young Rohan King. We don't know how to speak his language, it will make teaching tough.
I'm absolutely planning to take it next turn. I considered switching it but learning the language means 1 less turn of apprenticeship. In the end the two plans were similar enough and the other plan had us learning the language first so I decided to just leave it up to the voters.

Fingers crossed on the Prospector roll. We need more of those Underhalls when we can get them. The sooner we have more goods coming in the better!

i guess we could try finding other valleys that maybe arent really accesiable in the neighbourghood if we want to find more surface area to farm . And rely on its remotness . Build a tunnel even to connect the place to us and quarters and defenses i guess . Like 50 miles or so from us tops tough considering my tunnel idea. I dont want to leave the mountains to keep the dawi theme going properly.

It could also be a new place to start mining at if our hold doesnt find rare resources aswell . I guess mithril mainly or other rare stuff as another bonus maybe if we roll good. + there is the warning in delving super deep so instead you could keep the mining not as deep as usual but in diffrent places maybe .

edit:
Basicly my thought is maybe be like a alternative version of karak eightpeaks eventually , with several valleys connected to the main hold and even maybe settled if population growth is great enough if enough valleys are found and are in range to be connected.

Or maybe use this idea to find the fort/city we are building for the proto rohan we are caring for maybe but probably keep it near the pass rather than deeper into the mountains or connected to the pass would be best.

Even if you could physically fly up there it would not matter, when they got close enough your pilot would try to claim the ring, and I doubt they would get as far as Frodo so that literal God Almighty could save the day.
Get a hobbit in the Gyrocopter, and don't tell the pilot what they're carrying.
Hell, Give the Pilot a Rune of Spellbreaking and a Master Rune of Balance.

That should keep him from succumbing to the ring for long enough to get the hobbit to the volcano.

You do not have to tell them, the Ring will happily tell them what it is itself and the Ring of Power is a work of craft and malice beyond any dwarf runes ability to contain, except maybe those forged by the Ancestor Gods. Now I like our runelord, but he is no Ancestor God. :V

Boromir, an Umgi, resisted the whispers from Rivindell to Amon Hen, practically on the doorstep of Gondor. A journey that took months.

We can probably fly from Karak Drekfut to Edoras, then to Minas Tirith and then to Mount Doom in 4 days.

With some logistics, we can minimize the amount of people that are exposed to the Ring.

And yes, I'm assuming that in a thousand years, we'll have Gyrocopter refueling networks in the major human cities.

My alerts got dicked up, now it's too late to write something for bonuses on finding an apprentice. I hope fervently we get a nat 100 there.

As soon as they get over Mordor and likely sooner the Ring will twist the mind of practically speaking every mortal creature that does not have Sam's extreme self-effacement or Frodo's self sacrifice. This is less a function of time that you can beat with the physics of a faster gizmo and more a function of the metaphysics of the setting.

Gandalf at Rivendale calls Sauron wise in his malice and later calls his hope that the Ring will be destroyed 'a fool's hope'. I do not think the angel in old man's guise was fishing for reassurance, he was stating a fact Sauron was not afraid that the Ring would be destroyed becuse to destroy it you had to bring it into the place of its greatest power where no one could resist trying to claim it.

The only reason he was wrong about this was that Golum was there to fight for the ring and then fall into the fire with it, which was both a reward of Frodo and Bilbo's mercy and a literal act of God acting at a time and a place where mortal strength could no longer hold, as known to Sauron who had been Marion, child of Eru's wandering thoughts.

What if we built a Mithril box covered in magic suppressing runes that dampen the rings effects, lock it and give the key to Frodo.

One would literally pitting a piece of a god (or something that is one for any practical standard) against 'magic suppressing runes'. As I said above ancestor gods might be able to do it, not our post Time of Woe runelord

As for Frodo, well we do not know if he will even be born, the butterflies were let loose centuries before his birth, it takes self-sacrifice mercy and faith to get rid of the ring not specifically 'that one hobbit'.
