First off, that is very clearly a metaphor so there is no reason to answer it seriously.
Secondly, there are a lot of problems in the world where people have only gotten lucky that their current model of work hasn't blown up in their faces. Sooner or later, something will go wrong. It's not a matter of "the only way." It's a matter of humans not generally turning away from methods that have given them success so far, even if that method is dangerous in the long-run.
Quick info dump for people who don't know, Disney has a huge comic book line that is big in Europe, Disney comics are often national best sellers on like a weekly basis in Europe. It's huge.
Can confirm this, I probably have a thousand comics or so gathered over the last 15 years (..not really in the best conditions really...), though it's been a few years since I bought the last one.
They literally cover any genre and include parodies of pretty much everything, from star wars to beautiful to casa blanca to superheroes (paperinik= Donald duck as batman, both as a joke and taken COMPLETELY SERIOUSLY. Superpippo = Goofy as superman...) To horror stories.
A whistleblower could do it too.
An investigation, willing to look at facts objectively but not the hype could do it too.
But that will be hard. Because looking at such stuff objectively means admitting that the Shuttle is not going to work. That the goals and promises made are impossible, and have always been impossible. There's a lot of politics tied up in this.
Here's a decent article, from 1980, that pointed out some of those problems.
Granted, the issue is, we'd have to justify that to the board. Wait until '86. New Universe flopped, should drive the price down. But if we do buy them, we need a plan. Granted, just aping the MCU is a good plan, but we should be..... careful with it.
-[*] Have an Opening Day Ceremony. This will take an action next turn, but you might be able to see if you can't get Elizabeth on semi-permanent retainer. She's done an outstanding job on this, and having her around for some other projects would be a major help.
-[*] Deluxe, needs 20 successes. You want to pull out all the stops, and make the next Contemporary or Polynesian. Construction DC is 20 per on Deluxe hotels.
-[*] Marty will be at the Reedy Creek Improvement District
-[*] Hollywood Studios. Simple, clean, all parties can agree on this.

-[*] Contact Nintendo: Disney helped the company out before, licensing out Disney characters for their playing cards. The company seems to have changed focus a bit, but given how successful they've been with that new focus, it might be worthwhile to talk to them and see if there's anything more you could do to foster cooperation.
DC: (30-10) 20.
Benefits: Chance for closer ties with Nintendo, may convince them to sponsor a ride in the parks. Gain better knowledge of the video game industry.
You had expected to meet with Minoru Arakawa, but were surprised when Hiroshi Yamauchi flew over from Japan to meet with you in person with his son-in-law. You hastily run over some basic etiquette (although you still feel at a bit of a loss regarding the whole bowing thing) before heading out to meet with them. Continued in "Nintendo Power"
You meet with Mr. Yamauchi and Mr. Arakawa in the room normally reserved for board meetings, although you do bring some of the Tomorrowland 2055 sketches with you. There's a chance you can swing a sponsorship out of this, and you don't want to be unprepared. You think you manage to get through the greetings alright (still not certain about the bow, but neither of them mentioned anything), and then it's down to business. Mr. Arakawa (Arakawa-san, if you have the honorifics right) is the primary speaker, with only occasional comments from Mr. Yamauchi as you discuss things such as the new ride system using light guns you're hoping to work out for Galactic Enforcers, although Mr. Yamauchi mentioned a possible licensing agreement to give the ride a theme based around an upcoming Nintendo release, to how Nintendo might best take advantage of one of the tech showcases/stores available to rent in the upper level of the redesigned land.
However, during a lull in the conversation, Mr. Yamauchi fixes you in his gaze, and begins asking several questions. "Mr. Eisner, your company has been in the news greatly, as of late. A resurgent animation department, major developments in technologies far removed from your own business, and continuous rumours of expansions. And yet, arguably the largest of these accomplishments, the rapid development of solar technology, you cast aside instead of attempting to fully profit from it yourself. Why do such a thing?"
You take a moment to think before answering. "Well, to be honest, Disney is not an energy company. If I were to hold onto the patents and attempt to expand in that direction, I imagine that I would rapidly find the company stretching itself too thin." You pause for a moment, further considering the answer. "In addition, I would hesitate to say that Disney hasn't profited from the release of the patents. With further development in the field, spurred on by easily accessible technology, energy costs at all of our parks will drop. And most suppliers are more than willing to give us favorable deals, thanks to the good will garnered."
Mr. Yamauchi mulls over your words for a moment. "A wiser decision than I made, when I had the chance, I think." You're momentarily caught off guard, and Mr. Arakawa shifts uncomfortably. "I believe it would serve you well to keep such concerns in mind as you move forward." A small smile appears on Mr. Yamauchi's face then. "I managed to snag success with Disney before, and I almost instantly wasted it spreading Nintendo thin." He takes a moment to himself, looking out the window. "What is it that drives you, Mr. Eisner? Where do you see Disney in five years, or ten?"
Unbidden, your mind conjures up images of EPCOT the city, a project you've long wanted to start work on but still haven't found the time to actually begin. You think of all the expansions you've got underway, and the new monorail system nearing completion in Florida. You think of the revitalized animation studio, and the recent success you've had in reorganizing the live-action department. "I can't say for certain what the future holds, Mr. Yamauchi. I don't think anyone can. But I know that in five years or twenty, Disney will still be there, inspiring and entertaining." You take a moment to collect yourself. "We're a company of artists, from the animation studios to the imagineers, and some might think that makes us less adept at handling some problems. I don't share those sentiments. Whatever challenges we face, we'll meet them and continue on, just as Disney always has."
Mr. Yamauchi sits there for a brief second, before chuckling slightly. "You are much like Mr Disney, Mr. Eisner. I think our working together will be most fortuitous."
And with that, the talks continue, now much more productive as you get into the details of what exactly a deal between the two companies will look like.
You start with 5 points. Choices in the first list cost points. Choices in the second list add points. You cannot spend more points than you have.

AN: I couldn't find a good set of guidelines as to how honorifics would be used between CEOs meeting in person, so I've mostly avoided them. In any case, this vote is open for 48 hours.
[X] Plan: Stay Focused on Parks

This is around maximum benefit to the parks, and the ads's increase to Nintendo character popularity should also help our parks as well. If this deal goes well, we can collaborate in the future with additional options so let's focus on the sure winners.
I count us at negative 5 points with that plan. Did I miss something?

EDIT: I'm dropping this plan
The legend of Zelda is coming out as we negotiate this, Mario showed up late last year and they're already getting a Sci-fi series that fits perfectly with our new Tomorrowland. They have IPs that are ripe for cinema and no cinema know-how. Meanwhile we have much beloved characters that kids would love to play in a game and no game development skill. Each company could benefit greatly from this deal, so long as they don't have EXCLUSIVE rights to Disney character games.
EDIT: [X] Plan: Partnership
It's obviously too late in the day for me, when I originally read the one about always releasing on Nintendo I thought it meant we HAD to make a game for each Nintendo console. Overminds plan is better and I'm changing my vote, as expected of a vast hive-mind entity.
Until you renegotiate the deal with them, at some point down the line.
EDIT: Also relationship board is updated, major points of interest:
Jeff Katzenberg: +75 to all animated film quality rolls (stacks with initial bonus). (50 bonus)
Don Bluth: Adviser bonus changed to +2 actions. (50 bonus)
Disney/Bluth: Reroll any animated film quality rolls below 25. (25 bonus)
I really really wanna start up a video games division we would be able to make money so easily with the licenses that we have and may be able to get in the future.
What Disney gives to Nintendo: -[] Disney will always release a game on a Nintendo console, even if it also releases on other consoles. +3 points
fair, and until the first playstation (which was actually a nintendo-sony joint project initially) nintendo was definitely the best console. nes, snes and nintendo 64 all deserve praise. Maybe we can convince them to adopt CD and DVD instead of cartridges by that point. --[] Disney will exclusively release games on Nintendo consoles, and no others. +7 points (total +10)
this is a maybe. I'm willing to do this if they have something we want enough -[] Nintendo will receive the licenses to use Disney characters in their games and marketing. +5 points
acceptable -[] Nintendo will receive a more generous payment from Disney (-5 Board Approval). +5 points -[] Disney will produce TV ads and other promotional materials for Nintendo. +5 points
easy enough
18 (only green)/25 (all) points
now, what do we want..

yes!. this is perfect! -[] Nintendo will provide their latest consoles to Disney hotels at cost of components. 3 points --[] Nintendo will provide their latest consoles to Disney hotels for free instead. 7 points (total 10)
We can probably afford to simply pay for them. I especially don't believe free consoles are worth 7 points -[] Nintendo will provide the licenses to use their characters and products in Disney films and animation. 5 points
we DO have 2 bonus actions in that category next turn... -[] Nintendo will provide the licenses to use their characters and products in Disney parks (for example, if you wanted to have Link and Zelda walking around Fantasyland). 5 points
parks ARE our major income source after all -[] Nintendo will help Disney set up a dedicated video games division of the company (a new category with associated increase in actions each turn). 5 points
I think we should avoid this for now. We can leave disney games to Nintendo, and focus on animation, movies and parks, at least for now. We might maybe create a joint Disney/Nintendo of America game division in the future maybe. -[] Nintendo will release special Disney-themed editions of their consoles. 2 points
It's basically free publicity. If we have the points I'd like this. -[] Nintendo will rent a tech showcase/store in Tomorrowland 2055. 2 points
why not
all green: 20. Add 4-5 points of yellows to reach 24-25.
I'd go for disney consoles and consoles at costs, so that we can get all disney-themed consoles for our hotels!

By my count this comes to 20 points take to 20 points given. Given that Yamauichi seems to share our appreciation for our characters, and the fact that we are helping majorly with Nintendo's rollout in America (I mean come on we'll have Samus walking around Tomorrowland, Link and Zelda in Fantasyland, and a tech showcase). Also we don't incur Board wrath.

This actually makes it so that we are one point ahead. i think it hits all we want and need for what we want and nothing more. We focus on what helps us and what helps Nintendo.
I really really wanna start up a video games division we would be able to make money so easily with the licenses that we have and may be able to get in the future.
That's a good point, but I'm thinking that allowing them to use the IP won't prevent Disney from doing their own games. An example in RL would be Kingdom Hearts. And in the real world, Kingdom Hearts and Ducktales are probably the only two Disney IP games that I think are good (not just ok). There's a whole bunch more that are ok, but ideally I'd like another company that specializes in games to produce most of the stuff and have an internal division that's focused on just a few real quality titles.
This one I think has us giving too MUCH away. We start with +5 points, so I think you could cut out something there. Unless I've added up wrong (again).
