Taking the Mickey: A Save Disney Quest

Sorry to double post, just had to say this:

Merry Christmas Guys, and Merry Christmas Slynnwen! I wish you all the best!

Let's make Disney Great Again!!! (or for once? Can Disney classic be considered great?)

So, saw Cats today (blame my sister) and yeah, it would have been way better as an animated movie. And then I realized that in this quest, we could totally do a good Cats movie. Heck, Steven Spielberg almost made an animated Cats movie, so Andrew Lloyd Webber clearly isn't against the idea. We should probably put Don Bluth's team on it, though, since I think there were some concerns that animation would soften the cats too much.

So long as we don't go the movie route where (from what I've heard) the cats apparently are fighting so that they can die then I don't why we can't try it.

I just realized, man, the climate recession is probably screwing over the Middle East right now isn't it? Wonder what's happening there. Can anyone say "Operation Desert Storm"?

Frankly, without the oil money supporting them, there's not a lot that they can really do at the moment. OPEC must be in a frenzy though.

It depends on whether the Soviet Union or China will still continue using oil. As we have seen China has put a limit on how much oil is to be used, and the Soviet Union seems to be trying to move away from it (with...results) but in the end, the U.S.A technically has all the oil it needs or wants within its borders and Canada, but would keep on buying it if only to deny it from his enemies.

Furthermore, even if they are trying to move away from it, Oil is still used not only in vehicles (which they are still being made) but also in industry and in the military. I think the Middle east is safe for the moment, but by the mid 90s beginnning of 2000, if the U.S.A. keeps on working on electric power and revamping their industry and military to work with new power sources, then I see them loosing their power and importance by then.

I have made A List of all the anime that can dubbed and aired on the Disney Channel with minimal editing (obviously, most will need some names changed, but these were chosen for being episodic and targeted at young children- Pollon was considered, but dropped for featuring an alcoholic character- the censorship of which would negatively impact the show)

edit: I forgot one- Pretty Creamy the Perfect Popstar

I thought of a couple more questions and notes I want to mention while we wait for Slynn to deal with whatever she needs to.

Are the Cosmos and NASA shorts we commissioned going to air on the Disney Channel? I presume they're going everywhere else, so might as well? And if so does that have any impact on improving the channel?

And, we're accumulating some pretty big bonuses for research between NASA, Time, and John Avise I think it's +20 to Research rolls.

Makes me want to build a research division next turn along with all the other shiny things we want to do since all the board goals are now done except Fill in the last two major vacant areas in Future World in EPCOT, by the end of 1986

So many things I want to do, like attacking smoking in the parks, more female leads, go greener, learning french and japanese, hydrophobia and hurricane proofing, opening the vault again for the Disney Channel (it's been a couple years and we have hella PR, we can totally do that and a strong Disney Channel is good), starting a water park in WDW, focus groups, Usenet, improving the Skyway, bringing Tomorrowland California to WDW, video game division...

...Geez that's a lot of things to do. 14 actions on my wish list, ignoring all the ongoing stuff and other things that are necessary. I guess I'm just excited about this quest still :p

Not sure that's a good idea at all. Like, it would do better as an animated movie, but from what I remember of it, the whole design behind Cats the musical is to show off the elegance of dance and cats were chosen as the characters due to their characteristic flexibility and ability to fleetly move about. It wouldn't really communicate that as well off the stage, even if I do once again agree that it would do better animated than live-action.
I remember a few years back when this was actually showing for about a year or two on Disney channel as part of their anime block. It was pretty nice. I'd seen Doraemon before, but I was glad it was getting some mainstream recognition, especially given how big a figure Doraemon is in Japan.
